i never hated on the change either and it wasnt until ORAS were announced and i started reading here that i realized people hated the change lol. idk from what ive read people just thought it was a downsize, that wallace was like 53252x easier than steven and could easily be defeated by spamming electric attacks.

but as for what i want in the remakes, i hope steven is the champion again, but i wouldn't care if they kept it as wallace

It never really bothered me who was champion in RSE, I liked both characters and you still got to battle them both anyway. I'd like to think Wallace would be the champion, Juan taking 8th Gym Leader position and Steven being the "ultimate trainer".

Okay, on a serious note, they'll probably use Steven. But I'm actually hoping it's the Emerald set up (Juan as 8th gym leader, Wallace as Champion, Steven is the ultimate trainer, etc.)

Steven, because I just feel that Steven has more champion-ish traits...
Heck, I hate to say this but I feel that Juan is a better fit for a champion than Wallace.

Just cannot imagine him with a Mega Aggron though.

IMO Steven is the better Champ. That position just suits him better than Wallace. Not sure why, maybe because he's stronger, or because you meet him a couple of times during the game, I don't know.
I think every Champion throughout the game does that. Cynthia, Lance... it wouldn't feel right if Wallace was made because we only see him once lol
There won't be a surprise factor there.
But then again, if Steven is the champ, who will be the 'ultimate trainer'? Wally?

I did used to think it was weird when I found out Wallace was the champion in Emerald instead of Steven, but it didn't really bother me that much. Though Steven I feel suits the role more, don't really know why.

I think they may use the Emerald set up. Kind of like how HGSS used the way you catch suicune like in Crystal version.
Personally I like having to vs an ultimate trainer at the end like Steven in Emerald

I prefer Steven as the champion coz he's obviously stronger. And having two Water League Trainers just seems silly even if they are in The Land of Trumpets and Water :P

I think Wallace is perfect as a mini boss in the Contest area js

I would play the hell out of this game even more if this happened, I love Wally's character and he sorta just vanished :/

While I want Wally to succeed and be the Champion, it'd be much more preferred if Steven was Champion because he was the best imo, that way Juan can stay leader and Wallace can be a contest participant/expect!

If they are true remakes, as true as it can get with all this 3D and new features, Steven is probably the champion. Since he was in the original R/S, while Emerald is sort of an extra thing.

Personally I preferred Wallace because I found him a lot harder to beat than Steven....

BUT STILL, I HOPE IT'S NEITHER OF THEM. I hope Steven's still doing his own thing so I can bother him whenever I want to and that Wallace is doing Contests as well, so he can be my contest rival *w*

Ooooh yes, Steven being some kind of helping hero, Wallace being an actual contest rival, maybe with a sideplot of his own so that you'd feel like it's worth doing contests, and then Wally doing a Gary/Green and becoming the champion before you despite you beating him numerous times across the region already, because of his super sensitive connection with his pokémon... /ramble

Though, that would feel like you're beating him for the opposite reason as to why you beat Gary. Gary didn't have any love for his pokémon but was strong, while Wally has a lot of feelings all about the place but is frail as a leaf. Not really morally correct xD

Steven!! I hope they bring him back. I was so sad in Emerald when he was shoved to the sidelines. I'm crossing my fingers they they'll put Juan off to the side somewhere (where he could maybe still be battle-able once in a while or just one time even), Wallace as final gym leader, and Steven as champ. I think they might do that since they are Ruby/Sapphire remakes, but we aren't entirely sure since, let's be real, they probably made 2 versions for more $.

I really liked Juan, but I imagine that Wallace will stand as the 8th Hoenn gym leader, while Steven remains as champion. It makes sense given that these are remakes, Steven will ultimately be the most logical choice. Though I never thought that Wallace ever made sense as the Champion in Emerald, if I'm honest. I have played the games dozens of times and found it to be a pretty unnecessary alteration. That said, it did add that bit of variety to Emerald. Juan is Wallace's teacher, so I always found it a bit odd how Juan returned to the gym after his student not only surpassed him, the E4, and the previous Champion.

They'll stick with Steven though, I'd say. He's a fan favourite, and was the original Champion in Ruby & Sapphire. That said, I really would like to see Juan make an appearance. He is an accomplished co-ordinator in the Anime; so perhaps we'll see him involved if Pokémon Contests return.
