Is it fair to assume that at this point in PC's life. that people from GF or Nintendo in general have viewed this forum and even made accounts here to join in on the fun? Is it fair to assume they have taken ideas users have said on this forum for the latest releases? What do you think?

Honestly? I don't think so. Plus, the more cool fakemon people create, the less ideas are left for GameFreak haha. What if somebody came and claimed that GameFreak stole their design? :)

Game Freak is Japanese and this forum is English - if they took ideas from anything it would probably be a Japanese forum. And since Nintendo has no control over what's in the game since they don't develop it themselves, it doesn't make sense that they would join to poach ideas.

I'm sure at some point someone has joined that had a position in a job related to Pokemon but I doubt they spent any amount of time here - they have enough Pokemon at work, you know?

There's always a possibility. Chances are actually pretty low, though, due to all reasons stated about. Only reason they might possibly check online fan-sites is to see if there are any upset fans, and what they're complaining about. If they see this exact complain all over Internet, maybe they fix up the issue in later releases? Just a thought, haha. :]

Game freak has locations in many places around the globe. The base headquarters are Japanese, but many of the directors speak and read English. Game freak does too much business with English-speaking countries to not read, write, understand, and speak English.

So with that in mind, it's safe to assume that people working for GF pass by from time to time. Like any good company, they seek feedback from their consumers. Either on games that are already made or games to come. No company works solely within its own walls afterall! They'd get nowhere that way. If you don't know what your consumers think or what they want to see, how are you gonna make a profit? Who better to consult for game ideas and opinions than your own fans?

Game Freak is literally a company of less than 75 people. Their website only lists one location. Where are you getting that they have locations in "many places around the world"? The localization team for Pokemon is not Game Freak, but Nintendo, in all languages and areas, and thus they are not employees of Game Freak and do not need to communicate with Game Freak - only Nintendo of Japan.

I think people on PC think far too highly of it if they think that it's so important that one of the less than 75 Game Freak employees (that are so Japan-centric that they only just started releasing news in places other than Japanese TV shows and magazines) ever visits this English-speaking, relatively unconnected site. And they're nuts if they think that Game Freak actually takes ideas from here - guys, PC is not that important. It's not even the biggest English-speaking Pokemon forum if you look at posts or threads made. Game Freak is not secretly reading your posts, Google translating them to English, and bringing them up in board meetings.

Oh that's just bad wording on my part. I did mean Nintendo, not GF.

I also didn't mean to imply that PC in specific is the place Nintendo and/or game freak go to check on fan input. To pass through PC and read up on some of the boards and threads, then consult anything they find significant is not a far-fetched idea at all. Of course, we wouldn't be the primary board for this sort of thing, no. By getting ideas from fans, I'm implying ideas that are not belonging to an individual or a specific party - but rather, popular ideas. For example, the follow feature that was implemented in HGSS after being mass speculated to be a cool feature to have ever since Yellow.

Because it'd be silly to take a very fan-based concept and use it, as that's bait for legal issues.

Ain't nobody got time for dat.

But then we get into the fact that Nintendo doesn't actually make the game and Game Freak is Japan-centric, not international - thus why we get features like StreetPass that work excellent in dense countries like Japan and fail miserably in other places. Nintendo localizes and sells.

I wouldn't completely rule out the fact that some people from Game Freak, Nintendo, TPCi, etc. are aware of PC, especially due to the ROM Hacking boards. I know that in many other franchises where game hacking/modding is popular, they follow along to see what others are doing with their games.

Now, to say that they have accounts or have taken ideas that have stemmed from PC is pretty unlikely. I'm sure that anyone involved directly with the franchise has better things to do than talk about Pokemon in their time off, much like Oryx said. It's fun to think about, but I just wouldn't get my hopes up at all.

While I'm sure Game Freak takes consumer feedback into account, it solemn actually alters their developmental decisions. Therefore, I doubt they visit often, if at all. I'm sure there's at least one or two in the company that speak English, so it's possible, even by the slightest margins. The main reason they'd come to PC would probably be the Hacking section, for obvious reasons. :c

game freak took a smogon CAP typing and used it on aegislash. Sue pls

I'm sure a fair number of Game Freak employees understand/speak English so they could possibly get the gist of what we say, but would they take idea from a group of fans? That's something I wonder about. Take that supposed "light type" that was hot topic during Sylveon's debut. If GF went to the fans for help, the light type would have had a high chance of existing, but nope fairies. They could go to the fans for ideas, but I'm sure they would have been opposed of in the end, at least in my opinion.
