So have any of you had your teeth pulled?

Does it hurt? Does the needle they put you out with gross you out? Are there any tricks you do to calm yourself down? Any advice for the aftermath?

I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled in 3 days and I'm really scared >_<

All I've had pulled are my baby teeth. Which was really painful. My teeth don't like to come out. I don't ever have to have my wisdom teeth removed. But I saw them remove my mom and it's pretty scary/gross imo.

Yes, all were baby teeth that I had pulled out. Now that I'm a teen, I dread the thought of getting the wisdoms out.

I've had three or four teeth pulled and the worst part about it is getting the novacane. after that you don't feel a thing. can't speak for wisdom teeth though, haven't had to get mine out, thankfully.

I've only had my wisdom teeth pulled, although I don't recall that being so bad - especially since they fully knocked me out for that, so if they used a needle I so don't remember it. Just a little bit of gas, and I slept until the very end. I might have had a little bit of pain after, but nothing really too bad.

I think I found the dread of having them removed to be a lot worse than the actual procedure, honestly.

I've only had one tooth pulled and that was when I was like.. 9 years old. It was the absolute worst experience ever and I kicked and screamed so much it's hard to even think about it. Luckily haven't had any pulled beyond that if you don't count dad tugging on my baby teeth when I was young to yank them out faster, haha. They were already hanging on by a thread.

Yes. I have bad teeth, so a majority of them have been pulled. It's left me with half gums and half teeth, which is really hard. :/ My parents had bad teeth habits after I was born, so it was hard for them to set a good example on keeping my teeth brushed and even getting me to do it without hassle or some sort of panic attack occurring. Most people with autism have a hard time having their teeth brushed, so it's actually not that rare. When mine were pulled, they were able to put me to sleep instead of using the needle. This is because I have a HUGE phobia for needles. My insurance won't pay for the Novocain or laughing gas either. :/

I'm supposed to be getting mine worked on soon, and I also want to be able to get implants, but it's so costly. D:

I had two teeth removed when I was 5-6 because of an abscess, which was not a pleasant experience. The dentist didn't numb my mouth properly, nor did he wait long enough for me to be sedated.

Because of that, I was pretty reluctant to have some teeth removed years later to help with how crowded they were. Aside from a bit of nausea from the anesthesia, it went well. That being said, I still have my wisdom teeth (which have been messing up my mouth for quite a while). I'll hopefully be getting rid of them soon.
I can't think of a good signature.

I had a tooth pulled before back when I was like 9. They used the gas mask thing on me. I only remember crying and trying to run away from the dentists before they grabbed me and held me down while putting that mask on me, next thing I know I'm laying on some bed, mouth swollen and hurting like hell with no idea what the hell just happened.

Fast forward 10 years, when I was in AIT training for the Army they wanted everyone to get their wisdom teeth pulled before you graduated. I got all 3 of my teeth pulled on the same day, and I received a medical profile to be put on bed rest for 4 days. Mostly because the school I attended required operating heavy equipment, which isn't smart to do when your drugged up. I didn't tell my platoon sergeant about my profile and kept going to classes (Because if you miss more than 2 days of classes you'll get recalled and end up staying in training for another month or 2.) Annnd it sucked, but that's only because I had to work after I had them pulled.....And because I used chewing tobacco as soon as I walked out of the dental office (Big mistake in terms of pain, but totally worth it). I'm guessing you won't be doing that, so it shouldn't be so bad for you.

Overall, it's going to hurt (But not all the time, you'll be on pain medication) and it's going to suck, but it's not as bad as people make it out too be. You'll be fine. Oh yeah, I know not all dentists offer this, but if possible, I would recommend being getting gassed, at least you don't have to be conscious while they pull them. Being conscious for it sucks lol)

Yes, I've had all three of my wisdom teeth pulled, and that was when I was 15 years old. I only had three wisdom teeth grow in, and those have been the only tooth extractions I've ever had done. I didn't actually feel a thing because I underwent anesthesia during the surgery, but I do remember waking up and feeling some pain. My lips were very swolen and they felt like balloons that would not pop.

The only ones that I've had to pull out are the couple Wisdom teeth that had grown, and my dentist practically made me obligated to get them removed even when they weren't bothering me >>;; Otherwise, my baby teeth all fell out by themselves, and it was scary having like 4 loose ones consecutively because I didn't know when exactly they would fall out D:

I've only had two wisdom teeth pulled, and the actual surgery wasn't bad. They numbed my gums so I wouldn't feel any needles, and then gave me the gas. I really don't remember much about the actual procedure except for how great it felt getting my top left wisdom tooth out.

The worst part about the recovery was actually getting the stitches taken out. By that time, there's no more pain medication. When I got them taken out, it hurt. It's the one thing (aside from money) that's keeping me from getting my last two wisdom teeth taken out, because I don't want stitches.

D: You needed stitches for your surgery? The worst that happened to me after the numbing wore off was that I had to go about 3-4 hours without any kind of pain medication because my mom was on the way getting them meanwhile grocery shopping too >>;; That, and I was drooling non-stop. Disgusting, and painful experience. Kind of wished the orthodontist pulled all 4 out at the time instead of now having to go through minor toothaches, and pain while chewing food when the other one is growing at the back of my mouth D:

Hey, that reminds me of this time when a friend of mine went in to get his teeth pulled. He was pretty nervous about it, so to calm him down I went with him and waited outside in the waiting room. Apparently the drugs they gave him didn't work right, because he woke up halfway through screaming in pain.
The doctor said that it's something that happens with some people, and that the anaesthetic just doesn't work right all the time.

As for me, I've never had any pulled.

So far the only teeth that I have gotten removed are two of my wisdom teeth. Course sometime I will need to get my last two remaining wisdom teeth removed. Of course after I had gotten two of my wisdom teeth removed, it took me a week to fully recover. I also recall while recovering from the surgery, one thing I did was watch a bunch of disaster movies.

I went to the dentist when I was younger and they just decided to speed up the tooth-losing process and pulled out 2 of my baby teeth with their fingers. They were already kinda loose, but they also didn't really tell me they were doing it until it happened, haha.

I got my wisdom teeth out and it wasn't really that bad, although I think I'm on the odd end of the spectrum. I was able to eat solids after 2 days (I still didn't, but my jaw didn't hurt), my face wasn't swollen, and I was able to do normal things almost immediately after the surgery. Almost everyone else I know had terrible pain afterwards. I guess I'm just lucky. ~_~

I have never had any of my teeth pulled, at least none I can ever recall.

But my wisdom teeth have grown in, and I just know that it's gonna come when I end up having to get them pulled out. D:

In the summer before seventh grade I had six molars pulled in preparation for me getting braces. Literally, I had pretty much no bottom molars, just the very first one, and the last one on each side, then one missing from the top. I couldn't eat solid food until my adult teeth came in, nor could I use a straw because apparently that makes you bleed, a lot.

I had this thing were none of my baby teeth decided to come out in a timely manner. I didn't lose my first tooth until fourth grade, and by then the adult teeth had started to come in behind the baby ones; like shark teeth. So most of mine were pulled.

I haven't had my wisdoms taken out since I'm probably too young but I've had a total of six teeth pulled out. 3 on the top, 3 on the bottom. Really it's not that bad at all. The worst part is the needle that numbs your teeth, thats it. It's a bit scary them pulling it out but it doesn't actually hurt if they've given you the anesthetics properly. :p

It only hurts a few days afterwards to eat. Otherwise it's not that bad, I was never scared of getting my teeth pulled out after the first experience. First time though, screamed a lot trying to convince my dad not to go. XD
