In many genres today strategy is important. In others you can just run around like an idiot and still dominate the game. But there are still a precious handful of games where only those who truly know what they are doing can win. It is especially important in online gaming and MOBA games like League of Legends and Dota 2. My questions for you this time around are this: Do you like using strategies in video games? Do you like to strategize? Do you prefer to stick to tried-and-true strategies, or do you prefer to experiment? If you want you can also list strategies you use.

Personally I like to use strategies in video games. I love using my intelligence to overcome enemies in video games. To me: A video game is more fun when I have to plan to win, but tests of skill are also welcome. I also love creating strategies to overcome obstacles in games; so I also love strategizing. In online games (Dota 2 for instance) I tend to stick to strategies that have been tested and proven, but in games that are single-player I prefer experimenting with strategies.

When it comes to strategy in video games, the genre where strategy is very important is Real Time Strategy. One such RTS game that I have played where I have to figure out a good strategy is Star Wars Empire at War. I have to think of strategies to win the battle. One such strategy is to call in reinforcements if I start losing units.

The closest I've come to actually taking my time in coming up with strategies is Atelier Escha & Logy, which at the moment I'm close to completing (at least the first playthrough). I avoid playing games with any kind of strategies that is needed to overcome enemies simply because I don't have the patience to use my (lack of) strategic intelligence. I'm the type to bulldoze through games, at least the fighting portions, and focus on the story/character development. To put it simply, I don't like having a challenge XD Mainly because I will rage quit within 5 minutes if things don't go my way.
