I've played Pokemon since I was a kid, but I'm completely new to competitive battling. I have done my research on building teams and I've finally put together a group of 3 that I'm comfortable playing with (though I am still making stupid mistakes here and there) in single battles. But I find myself stuck. Any suggestions on how I could improve and/or expand on my current team would be greatly appreciated.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Technician
IVs 31/31/31/31/31/31
EVs Hp 252/Atk 252/SpD 4
Adamant
- Pursuit
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Brick Break

Rotom-W @ Assault Vest
Levitate
IVs 31/x/31/31/31/31
EVs Hp 252/Def 252/SpA 4
Bold
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump

Dragonite @ Weakness Policy
Multiscale
IVs 31/31/31/x/31/31
EVs Atk 252/Spd 252/Hp 4
Adamant
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Claw

If this is a Showdown! team, use Superpower over Brick Break for the extra power. Change the EVs to 248 HP/252 Atk/8 SDef. This makes Scizor's HP indivisible by 8, making it take less damage from Stealth Rock.

I honestly don't see the merit of Assault Vest on Wash Rotom. It appreciates the utility of Will-o-Wisp on defensive sets and Trick on Choiced ones:
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Will-o-Wisp
-Pain Split/Rest
Nature: Bold
EVs: 248 HP/216 Def/44 Spe
Item: Leftovers/Chesto Berry

or
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt/Will-o-Wisp
-Trick
Nature: Timid/Modest
EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Choice Scarf

Dragon Dance Dragonite needs the priority of Extreme Speed more than the recovery of Roost:
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage/Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Extreme Speed
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
Item: Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale

An entry hazard setter can make your Volt-Turn core more effective. Think Skarmory Ferrothorn or Therian Landorus:

Skarmory:
-Roost
-Whirlwind
-Stealth Rock/Spikes/Brave Bird
-Defog/Brave Bird
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Item: Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy

or
-Roost
-Defog
-Whirlwind/Taunt
-Stealth Rock/Toxic/Brave Bird/Counter
Nature: Bold/Impish
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Item: Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy

Therian Landorus:
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-U-turn
-Stone Edge/Knock Off
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Item: Leftovers/Rocky Helmet

I've been going back and forth about Extreme Speed for days. I was trying to capitalize on Dragonite's Multiscale ability by using Roost here and there, but Extreme Speed would really be more useful. Time to find a Extreme Speed Dratini, lol.

Thanks for the advice.

Platinumdude covered a lot, Rotom-W should be changed to the "Standard defensive set", and SR can definitely help the team. I think your best options right now would be a heatran or landorus-t, which serve the dual purpose of beating Charizard-X, which is threatening to the team. Some carry Earthquake though so you might want another check to mega charizard x, maybe dragon dance mega tyranitar as a sweeper since you don't have a mega yet and it could help your team's offensive capabilities. Keldeo could be a good check as well that can give your team some offense. If some of these are hard to find in game, just make sure you have charizard-x beaten, also Aegislash looks threatening with shadow ball, so a counter/check for him like Bisharp, Mandibuzz, [Mega ttar is a check too], could help out since Aeg is really common in single battles.
