Hi

, im a huge fan of pokemon since i was a kid playing pokemon silver and gold, now that i have completed about 50% of the game and am at Red in Heart Gold. I recently traded with my friend for a gengar of my own. It worked great but me and him no longer live nearby to each other leaving me with no one to trade with.
I would use WIFI to trade but my current internet is using a new connection to my DSi and wont accept the connection.
Basically i was wondering if, once i traded once with someone for a trade only pokemon and start a new game which i want to, do i need to trade it again to get the evolution?
It would suck if i did as there is really no way i can get trade only after then if so.
Hey Countercruel, if I understand your question correctly, then yes, you would need to trade again for a trade-evolution Pokemon, as restarting your game completely wipes all previous save data (including any Pokemon you'd previously caught or traded for). Also, the reason why your WiFi doesn't connect to the internet isn't your fault- Nintendo shut down their online servers for DS and Wii games back in May. Unfortunately, that means you can't trade Pokemon via WiFi anymore, and are only able to do so via local multiplayer.
Hopefully I was able to answer your question. For future reference (or if you still need some clarification), please use our
4th Gen Help Thread, as Pokemon General doesn't actually deal with game-specific questions and topics.
