Hello everyone, Im wanting to get into competitive battling. Im brand new to the entire scene and its meta, before recently. I began looking up videos or guides and learned most of the meta, but with many options and still so much Im missing, I came seeking help with the team Im planning and breeding solely by myself. I have nearly finished one pokemon, being my Mega team member: an Adamant, 6 IV, Moxie Heracross.. moves havent been figured out yet. I had a few pokemon in mind to use for this first team as well and all in all I just need advice. Im very close to gathering everything I need to make Protean Froakies, and I was also thinking of maybe Aegislash, or Leavanny for a physical/speed attacker. Im not quite sure what to pick up. Can you provide me the means to at least get a team rolling, or make one on my own at future dates? Thank you to ALL who take the time to check this out and give input. I could really use it.

Wow, Platinum thank you for all of the help. Ill probably go with Heracross as wel as the Scolipede to set up sweeps but Im still sort of iffy on the rest. I mean Aegislash is a great pick Ive seen, and I was thinking that if Talonflame could harshly damage my team I can put in Azumarill into the mix. I would like to know your thoughts on who would be an ideal hazard set up?

And I would just like to say I appreciate the effort, and detail you took the time to put into your response and I am so greatful. Im learning things belivve it or not simply by seeing how you detailed each multiple set up for the exact same pokemon. Thank you so so so much.

Hey bud, glad you have decided to take up competitive battling.

http://www.smogon.com/ is a great place to go for ideal sets for most pokemon, it also has some guides and articles, two really good guides for breeding and battling in-game are linked below

Leavanny isn't a great Pokemon and is kind of redundant typing wise with Mega Heracross, Greninja and Aegislash are really solid pokes though. I think the combo of Smooth rock lead Tyranitar + Sand Rush excadrill could help this team since sand rush excadrill can outspeed a ton of threats with the sand rush speed boost and give your team good offense, also helps against opposing weathers and all that. Also deals with your team's previous SD Talonflame weakness. Last slot maybe Amoongus as a second water resist and a good counter to Azumarill, Ferrothorn could work too if you don't mind having 3 grass types. Pdude's suggestion of Shuckle is good because heracross is a slower offensive poke so it appreciates the opposing speed drop a lot.

Also you can test your teams on pokemonshowdown.com without having to breed anything, PC has its own server as well if you click the "Battle" tab in the header bar.

Thank you so much, I like the sound of setting up with Tyranitar. And Amoongus is a very solid poke. So all on all how does this sound?

-Tyranitar for setting up sandstorms as well as Talonflame counter
-Mega Herocross as my mega as well as physical sweeper.
-Shuckle for setting up sticky webs to favor Heracross in speed.
-Excadrill with the Sand Rush and Rapid Spin to counter other hazards as well as allow ot to be another physical attacker.
-Scolipede to pass off to Hera and for a good solid defense with speed boost an most likely Iron Defense
And finally
-Aegislash or maybe Gyarados for a solid poke for the role of nice HP and good standings on the offensive when needed.

If Im on the right track let me know and if not do the same and ot would be quite appreciated.

You definitely want a water resist in there, plus ttar and shuckle are a bit redundant, you could always run shuckle/rotom-w/garchomp over ttar/exca also if you wanted to keep sticky web, you beat most of the same stuff except [email protected] but theres aegislash for that

Hmm. Okay well then I think Ill drop Shuckle.. and to replace him, taking into account the water resist need, should I throw in Ferrothorn? Or are there better options?

Oh mannn oh man. I ended up using my friends computer and the results are in. First match was odd because I started wrecked their lead and then they left. That means nothing but the next match I played was an all out sweep. I started Ferro and set up a leech seed, then moved onto my exca to try to take down their klefki which proved quite successful with the help of flinch, then moved on to Scoli and set up an extra 3 or 4 stages of speed as well as 4 stages of defense and passed off to my Heracross. From then on it was a total 5 mon sweep. :3 I was so happy. Then my next match, the comp I was using overheated. T^T
