I made a thread about this a month ago about Amazon in the process of building a possible phone to add in to their line. That is now confirmed and released, and if you want the phone, you can only get it on AT&T for $199.99 with 2 year commitment.

I was able to get a first look at the Fire Phone when I visited the Interactive Zone outside Comic Con in San Diego. It was a long line, but I could NOT pass up the first-hand opportunity. The phone was really well-structured. However, the turn-off for this phone was that it acts EXACTLY like the Kindle Fire. It's a tiny Kindle Fire. I know it sounds like I'm saying the iPad is a giant iPhone, but...the transition from a Kindle Fire to a Fire Phone feels really weird. For this phone, I would probably recommend this to those who shop frequently on Amazon, as it has a well-organized app store. If you own a Kindle Fire, you're better off keeping it.

Now that the Fire Phone is out, do you plan on switching sometime soon? Maybe later on? Do you think this phone could be successful?

I myself would probably not get a Fire Phone at all. Surely, it may be good on the hardware side of things, but I'd probably immediately find myself rooting the device immediately as well if I did get one.

Oh, and one thing not mentioned above is that people who purchase the phone get one year of Amazon's Prime service too. That's what I heard in the news recently, at least.

$200 up front, stuck with Satan's service provider, 2-year-commitment, no expandable memory or storage, 720p display, USB 2.0 connectivity, nonremovable battery, and Fire OS? Why should I buy this again?

"satan's service provider" accurate imo

I'm honestly not much of an Amazon shopper, a frequent one for that matter. If I want the same features as a Kindle Fire, I would rather just buy the tablet and not the phone itself...when I already have an iPhone that covers that. I have a feeling it's going to become more of a flop, just like how the Facebook phone was one.

but the processor speed tho. *drools*

WOA! Nobody should hate AT&T </3
I never like the Amazon skin, mainly because it was ridiculously buggy and sluggish
I suppose Fire OS really was necessary.
I find this phone to be the first of many attempts at forking Android, but we'll see (seriously. I'm waiting to see Samsung fork Android, much anticipation)
But the Amazon app store? I don't see any advantages.
I love Amazon's service in online shopping, but I never bothered with Kindle nor their movies / music services.
There's nothing that will cause me to switch from the Nexus to the Fire phone, especially with similar specs and stock Android vs. Fire OS.
