aka let's talk about sleep!

How much sleep do you normally get? Is it too much or or little? Do you like to go to bed/wake up early or late? What does your room need to be like to sleep (temperature, light, sound, etc)? Can you remember your dreams? Do you sleep with your door closed or open? How do you sleep (back, side, stomach)?

There are several other sleep threads so remember to talk about your blanket go here and your last dream go here!

It depends. During school times I get maybe 3 hours of sleep at night. And then during the non school times it depends where I'm living. When I'm at my own house I can sleep forever because my room is always completely dark, but anywhere else I can get sleep until the sun shines in or someone starts making a lot of noise. I like to sleep on my right side a lot because I can face the wall but then I also sleep on my back a lot because I have pains.

Here's my ideal setting:
Cold (really cold)
Dark
And with a fan running for both a small breeze and white noise.

I sleep for maybe six hours a night and I function quite well. I fall asleep around 2am and wake up at about 8am. Sometimes later, if I am lucky. I rarely have memorable dreams, only when under a lot of stress. I prefer the door closed, but I keep it cracked open a bit for air circulation. I usually sleep on my side and curled up while hugging a pillow. I generate too much body heat to cuddle with my fiancé ;-; It gets too uncomfortable. We also sleep in a yin/yang fashion, facing opposite ends, because he experiences night terrors and flings his arms out. We're an odd couple.

I usually sleep for 8 hours but I feel better with 8 and half hours.
My room needs to be pitch black and it should be a little cold so that I don't sweat with a blanket on. I always start with my back on the bed but I shift around a lot. I can never remember my dreams.

Oh and the door is always closed for privacy.

On an average night I probably get around 6 or 7 hours, which is usually enough to see me through the day.

I'm a fairly light sleeper, I need a comfortable temperature and I can only sleep in the dark. Strangely, up until maybe the age of 13 or so, I could only sleep with the light on. It wasn't through fear of the dark or anything like that, I really dunno.

During the summer I'll get about 8 or 9 hours most nights; when school begins I'll get between 6-7 hours. I enjoy sleeping but find it unnecessary sometimes, although I know it's important. Idk sometimes if I have something stuck on my mind then I won't be able to sleep all night. I normally will go to bed 2-3 AM in the summer and 12-1 AM during school. I liked to sleep with the door closed and no lights, and I sleep on my let side normally. I usually wake up happy and do the Carlton! ^^

The amount of sleep I get varies a lot. During the school year, I'd say maybe 5-6 hours/night on average, but it ranges from 0 to 8 or so. If I don't have anything that I need to do, I'll generally sleep more like 12 hours, but I think that's because I'm usually sleep-deprived. I wish could sleep more on a regular basis, but I have to get up by a certain time, and I have trouble falling asleep early. Given a choice (and no sleep deficit), I'd probably sleep from around 4am till noon (or maybe even a later schedule than that). Unfortunately, the real world doesn't seem to like my preferred sleep schedule very much.

I like my room to be dark, cool, and quiet for sleeping. I've stared out a window at a light for the past couple of years, and that's been pretty frustrating, so I'm hoping my new apartment won't be too bright or noisy at night. The door needs to be closed, too, or else I worry (probably irrationally) about people coming into my room in the night.

I frequently remember my dreams, and they tend to be very detailed. Sometimes I wish I remembered them less because they make me feel tired when I wake up, but they're also interesting.

I generally sleep on either my side or my back. I frequently start on my side and then roll onto my back during the night. I pretty much never sleep on my stomach.

I like sleeping late and waking up late, which usually doesn't work with my schedule haha, unfortunately, but I've done it a lot this summer. I get like 7-8 hours, which I'm aware isn't quite enough (9 hours is most favorable iirc) but I can't seem to fall asleep before at least 11 d:

Slepping is life. I can sleep a full 24 hours, if no one wakes me up, and it has happened before o.o. I usually wake up around 11-12 o clock, eat o bowl o cereals, and start my afternoon. But this is my summer scheldule.

During school, I get NO sleep. 1-3 hours top. Then I sleep at the beginning of class, or on the bus. Life is good.

Ugh, my schedule has been terrible lately. Ever since I moved I've been crashing in the living room at about 11PM, then waking up at around 2-3AM to get into bed, and by that time I'm not even tired anymore (which is why I'm on PC atm). Then maybe I'll go back to sleep at 4AM and wake up at 8 or 9AM.

But on a normal day, I'd probably get like 6 hours of undisturbed sleep. I don't need that much sleep to feel rested, and I wake up pretty early, always up at around 8AM naturally - I don't think I've ever really used an alarm clock.

For me to optimally sleep I have to have aural stimulation (usually music if not other artificial ambient noise), be able to lay in relative darkness, and to have cover over my body. When preparing for sleep, I start by stretching my head, members, and torso, and then I adjust and relax my muscles and positioning to allow my blood to sit comfortably. My position during sleep is very dynamic and at any point I could be face up, face down, to the left or right, in the fetal position, or any number of other things I can't well describe.

In order to actually fall asleep, two things need to occur: the first is that my eyes must be completely shielded from every bit of light around me, and the second is that my mind must be able to comfortably wander. Cerebral exercise is very enjoyable and relaxing for me and is a spark for dreams (at least I presume, I don't hardly remember many sights that occurred well before I awake). More often than not my choice of sound goes hand-in-hand with what type of exercise I feel in the mood for that night.

Normally my body works best on a rather tilted 28-hour cycle; I sleep on average 12 hours and am awake for 16. It's very troublesome when I have day-to-day obligations, and often during school I'm not able to fall asleep until late which results in me having to catch up on the way to school, in the first few classes, and even frequently on the rides home.

I like sleep. Sleep is nice. Except I usually have issues getting up since I always feel tired regardless of what time I wake up.. eugh. :'( Had to force myself up at around 10:30AM today, felt like I could've slept for hours extra. Guess I need to wear myself out more the day before.

I don't understand how you guys with under 5 hours of sleep function! I need way more than that to do anything. :X Sometimes I can't even function with a dozen hours of sleep though lol so it's probably just me.

I usually get under 5, but that doesn't mean I function well sadly. I guess I've learned and adapted to being able to semi-function but the lack of sleep really does affect me. I just wish I was more motivated to fix it lmao

I love sleeping; can't live without it, to be honest. Might not do it as much as I'd like, usually, but there's reasons behind that which I'll not get into. I find myself sleeping throughout daytime, mostly. My schedule wasn't exactly like this, but had to stay awake a couple of nights for a few days last year to get projects done and whatnot, and wound up adapting. It was a little tough at first, but am completely used to it now. Sleeping at night seems to give me a better feeling, though, so would definitely consider going back at some point.

I could function perfectly fine without a day of sleep--sometimes, maybe two--but after that, things start getting to me. Normally, I sleep around six hours per day. If it's weekend, then it'd be seven, or maybe even eight.

Lately I'm sleeping quite late as in over midnight, and when I sleep, I'll make sure the temperature is cool, and having my blanket on as well. I do wish I can sleep a bit earlier now.

I usually sleep 7-8 hours, going to bed at 10-11PM. I like to sleep, however can't do that on daylight. For last days (since I had an accident in work and my lower back hurts as hell) I can't sleep on the side which makes significantly harder for me to fall asleep.

Most people can't, either. :p

I did once know a girl named Trinity who didn't sleep for four and a half years. She was always a little odd, but in a subtle way. >.>

Gah, I just had a sleepless night tonight. >.<

I guess I really need my daily intake of ice cold water. It feels unnatural if I don't have any.

Probably going to end up sleeping in today's choir practice...
