Can someone help me? Whenever I try connecting my HDMI cable from my TV to my laptop I get no audio on the TV when watching videos. It's not a problem with the cable. I tried a different HDMI cable and still couldn't get any sound on the TV. And it does detect the HDMI, I'm just not getting any sound. How do I fix this?

Please check out my InuYasha fanfiction and tell me what you think.

You have made sure that the TV wasn't muted nor at 0, right? Just making sure.. and if it's not muted, click on the speaker in your taskbar once and then try to adjust the volume control for your display. If you hear sound coming from your TV, then there's nothing wrong there.

What you also need to make sure is that when you're running HDMI to your TV that the display is also selected as the default device. This can be done by right-clicking on the speaker icon and going to Playback Devices. If your TV is listed there, right-click that and select Set as Default Device.

When I do that it acts like there's no audio device set as default and then I have to go back and set the default as coming out of the computer.

Are you using Windows? What kind of computer?
When you connect it to the projector / tv / whatever, I assume the video works fine?

If this is the case, then while connected to the HDMI cable, you need to switch the audio to send to the projector. You may need to change the default audio driver to switch over to the HDMI and back and forth to the regular speakers

Can you send me a screenshot of your sound devices?

It's fixed now. It fixed itself when I had to reformat.
