Tales of Xillia 2

[Beware of Spoilers!]

Tales of Xillia 2 has been released today, so, I thought I'd create this thread just so that you guys can discuss any experiences, or hopes, or dreams, or whatever you want about this game with the rest of us!

Platform: PlayStation 3
Theme/Genre: RPG Where Choices Spin the Future
Developer: Bandai Namco Studio (Much of the staff came from Tales Studio)
Publisher: Namco Bandai Games
Producer: Hideo Baba
Composer: Motoi Sakuraba
Animation: Ufotable
Artwork: Daigo Okumura, Kosuke Fujishima, and Mutsumi Inomata
Release Dates: Japan, November 1st, 2012 NA, August 19th, 2012

The game takes place a after the events from Tales of Xillia and follows Ludger Will Kresnik, a young man living in Triglaf, who gets caught up in a journey to stop yet another growing threat to the world.

In Xillia 2 you'll be presented with multiple choices for Ludger, where you can determine his responses and reactions to the situations around him. Like the last Xillia, there are people in the game who have tasks they would like for you to complete. When you complete these tasks, you earn items and money, as well as something new called "Merit Points". Using these Merit Points, you can obtain higher ranking Titles, which allow you to access more difficult quests with better rewards.

Taking from Graces' weakness system, they've developed something more in depth. Like Graces, when you hit an enemy's weakness your damage output is increased, and by hitting more of their weaknesses the damage multiplier is increased. Should you hit an enemy's weakness, not only is the multiplier canceled, they can also blow through your attacks and counterattack while you're open.

Characters:

Ludger Will Kresnick - Age: 20

Elle Mel Mata - Age: 8

Leia Roland - Age: 16

Alvin - Age: 27

Elise Lutus - Age: 13

Rowen J. Ilbert - Age: 63

Jude Mathis - Age: 16

Milla - Age: 21

Gaius - Age: 33

Musee - Age: 21

I am so excited to play this in English. ;w; I've played it in Japanese (actually just platinum'd it a week or two ago).

So tips from me before you go into the game:
  • Use Kitty Dispatch at all times!
Always drop everything and find cats (usually 1 or 2 per area) as soon as new places become unlocked. And always send them out as soon as they come back, because it will make sidequesting a lot easier.
  • Don't concentrate on sidequests until you have the World Map.
You get the map pretty early on, but if you're like me, you'll probably put a lot of work into sidequests before then... when it's really not worth it, because there's waaayy too much running back and forth. Do yourself a favour and do the bare minimum to pay off your debt until you have the map for quick travel... then you're good to obsess.

Another player of the Japanese version here! Cherrim pretty much nailed everything you should need to know going into the game. But I'm going to add another tip, but this is for later in the game.

Get a good grasp on how to use Chromatus. It's not overly hard to use, but it still takes some adjusting to. By no means is Chromatus is an absolute necessity in beating the game, but it does make your life significantly easier against essentially all of the bosses in the game. Also, the damage potential of the Chromatus combo loop is so ridiculous, it would be insane to pass it up.

Ah I played the Japanese version, thought I still need to get another ending, i got all of them but one.

I'm still playing through the English version. But work is getting in the way haha. But the game is one of my top favorite Tales.

Cherrim, and Arc tips are to a key. If anyone wants to give this game a try definitely take their advice. I also love doing the jobs (side quests) in this game. It made it fun for me for some reason. :3
