Not sure if this is the right section.

Anyways, how many of you did this challenge yet? How many of you donated?

One question that has been lingering in my head is, what happens if you get challenged but don't do the ice bucket challenge NOR donate? ;o

There's many options for it apparently, this being one. You donate $10 if you do the challenge, $100 if you choose not too. Though I'm also hearing it's also "you either dump ice on yourself or donate $100 to the ALS Association."

I haven't mostly cause of lack of money. Though I also feel like , if I were to do it, it would be because I want to give money to the ALS Association , and not just cause I want to pour ice water on my head. I know there's a variation of the challenge where even if you do the challenge and dump cold water on yourself, you still need to give at least 10 bucks. I'd do that version and not the "dump ice water on yourself" or give $100" cause you're giving to the cause either way. Personally I'd give no matter what I'd choose. I just want to help the cause , since apparently , before the challenge , ALS research was low-funded, but now it's made over 23 million. I feel a good amount of the money came from famous people who did the challenge, cause they can afford to give more than the challenge calls for. $10 or even $100 is nothing to a celeb. Though, also , because so many famous people have done it, there's definitely been a lot of donations from regular people too.

Just thought I share my favorites from celebs so far.

Spoiler:

'Oh no my buttcrack!" - Chris Pratt, Star-Lord and Andy Dwyer. August 16, 2014. Never forget. ]

Spoiler:
Just cause he freaking challenged Putin and Michelle Obama. And he said "plant a tree for Groot"

Spoiler:

Carrie re-enactment for the win

Cause his kids are adorable. And he mentioned the site to donate. Enough said.

The fact he brought up what the challenge was about, where his money was going to, and the fact his put links to more info in his original video, made this one so awesome. What an awesome, humble and charitable man! I have more respect towards Tom Hiddleston now.

I've got a question: do you think it's wrong for people to not donate the $100, instead taking the cheaper route and doing the actual challenge for $10? Or do you think that it's better to donate only $10, take the challenge, and thus spread more awarness through the publication of the video through social media?

I'd say it's goes both ways. Either $10 or $100 is good, any amounts works imo. But obviously, giving 100 and not doing the challenge gives them more money. Either way, they've made over 31 million dollars from this. And donations are climbing and climbing. Though large amount is likely cause of the stars who did the challenge and donated , since they can throw away $1000 bucks and not be affected. But there's also millions of regular people who've donated too. I'm asuuming , though, many people took the challenge cause "favorite celebrity" did it and "it went viral ,I must copy everyone" so pretty much a it's a big double-edge sword. I think at this point, however, any amount affects the cause.

Did Nick Offerman ever do it?!

I've already done the challenge and gonna do it again because the school tennis team got challenged to do it. I mean, you dry in half an hour and you're raising awareness for a terrible disease. It's worth it. I know others have varying opinions but that's my two cents.

I think it's justified to do the challenge and donate $10 because the purpose is to experience the same physical experience as ALS (the sudden shock resulting in you going stiff or something like that, I didn't do all my research). I'd say it's fair enough.

Our band director got challenged by Michigan State's director to do it...then our director challenged the entire marching band. Tomorrow, I'm dumping ice water all over my body.

I have seen quite a few people who have attempted this, although I refuse to do it. It doesn't sound fun or anything serious, nor would I want to donate. Sorry Dx

I just got nominated to do the challenge, so I'll be doing it tomorrow. I won't be donating, because I don't have the money. But I can at least help spread awareness(not that it really needs it at this time). It's just the spirit of things, even if you can't donate, at least you're showing your support.

Are you going to do it in a wacky way? Or just do it the old fashion way by dumping a bucket of cold water on ya?

I dunno, I haven't really thought about it all that much. The only thing is, I wasn't able to do today which is I got challenged and I have work tomorrow so I'll be past the whole "24 hours" but oh well. I'm known to be edgy. ;)

Yes he did! I found the video here, I think it's as funny as Chris Pratt's, and the people he calls out... LOL

Get a whole bunch of your friends together and let them shoot you with either hoses or super soakers filled with ice cold water. That'll do the trick!

I don't really know where I stand on this. Some people just look at it like the cinnamon challenge, and that bothers me greatly. They think it's just this strictly fun thing to do and post on the internet, and are ignorant to the reason behind it.
Would something like this bother you then?

He did, it was great. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=701419396578543

And I have yet to be challenge, though Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco did it at a concert , and was like "I challnege all our fans on Facebook". Me being a fan I'm like.

"Oh ****?" Me too. I'm broke?"

Yeah I know he doesn't exactly mean everyone, but it's nice knowing he's challenge.

Also, everyone should watch this one if they haven't. If you're thinking this challenge is a dumb idea , or if donating to ALS is not needed or not worth it, then this could really change your mind.

Please watch it all even if it is over 6 minutes long. The whole video is very important and worth watching entirely.

One thing that confused me greatly is the mix of opinions in what this is actually for. I mean, I saw a link of facebook saying the challenge was to raise awareness of cancer for Maximillian? :S

Good on those who have done it on donated, though. If that's a cause you want to support then well done on you. I'm not sure I like the idea of 'shaming' people who don't take part though :/.

Not sure I'm buying that - ALS is a long, slow disease that gradually strips away your ability to do things until you lose the ability to breathe and you die. There's no "sudden shock" involved in it...that sounds like a justification someone tried to make up so they weren't criticized for choosing to do the video.

I've been challenged by Jak and someone in town, so I need to do it eventually. I, unfortunately, cannot donate right now, so awareness to my friend list on Facebook will have to do for now. :( If I had the cash, I would.
