What band/musician is your guilty pleasure?
Like, there are plenty of bands and musicians that are looked down upon for whatever reasons. Such as people in high school who feel the need to keep their love for Black Veil Brides a secret.

Hmm, well, guilty pleasures have usually made me into a fan of the music, in 2011, I listened to Justin Bieber and fell in love and in 2012 listened to One Direction and fell in love after vocally hating One Direction, because I admit that I just jumped on the bandwagon to look "cool", I'm not sure if I actually hated Justin, or it was just plain bandwagon hate or I secretly liked him.

Last month I heard the song Science Fiction, Double Feature
from the Rocky Horror (Picture) Show being sung at a cafe, that I often visit and I just fell in love with the song and finally saw RHPS a few weeks ago, the song Stand By Me, by Ben E. King was also a guilty pleasure.

Gotta go with my love for the Beastie Boys. Yeah, yeah, I know they are really out of pitch and whatnot and have no clear sense of it, but that just makes them a fun-loving group to listen to because you know they are having fun with it. I'm not ashamed to say I'll cruise down the road, windows down blaring Fight For Your Right for the world to hear. Meh.

Then of course there's Weird Al. He's a genius.

Backstreet Boys and N'Sync, although to be fair both of these bands were, and in the case of the Backstreet Boys are still very good in terms of performing and writing songs. Additionally, both of these boy bands beat Justin Bieber and One Direction by a landslide in terms of quality.

I don't know if I should call this a guilty pleasure or not, but of all of the rap/pop/R&B artists out there, the one I feel most worthy of mention for me right now is Pitbull. He raps about money, raves about himself or talks about having sex with women. But I read his music isn't something you really take seriously, even he doesn't seem like that himself. It's so cheesy, and yet I can't help but enjoy it. x3 In his own very words, "Don't you know that I don't give a NUMBER TWO???????"

Given how overplayed/popular Fancy is, I don't think that's something to call a guilty pleasure, though. :P

Your mom busted in and said, "What's that noise?"
Aw, mom you're just jealous it's the Beastie Boys!

Weird Al is great too, but I can't afford to lose what credibility I have IRL having him on my iPod, haha.

The only thing I keep somewhat hidden is that I listen to some pop music and actually enjoy songs by artists like Ariana Grande and others, despite it being very far from my style.

Also I hate Weezer. Everyone loves them, but I cannot stand any of their songs.

N'Sync for me as well, except not really. I'm pretty open about that. I'm a huge fan of Justin Timberlake, not even a little ashamed of it.

Aside from that, Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball is pretty good.

I guess the only thing I've really hidden from other people is liking rap music in general. I'm a small asian woman and people usually find it funny if I say "I like rap music", so I don't.

have you heard their early stuff? because it's way different than, like, "Beverly Hills" or whatever.

also re: Beastie Boys, it is not embarrassing to like them! they're pretty great. ESPECIALLY post-Licensed to Ill. and there is some good **** on Licensed to Ill, mind you, but they got more 'cerebral' (I hesitate to use that word because they were never really 'smart' music) as they went.

I have. :( I just plain don't like Weezer and I really don't know why I have such a passionate dislike for them, haha. If I hear a song of theirs come on the radio, I change the station immediately. I hate the singer's voice and their sound and ugh. Haha. Sorry to anyone that does like them.

too bad! I can see how someone could dislike them though; they've got that upper-middle class suburban angsty teen sound that grates on a lot of people. or at least they do for their first two albums and then they just became something of an assembly line rock group that churns out some really, truly terrible stuff. I really, really love those first two albums I mentioned, though. (0;

Never considered the Beastie Boys to be a guilty pleasure. So it's weird for me to read this lol. I blast my Beastie Boys cd all over tehehe

My guilty pleasure would have to be the terrible rap/hiphop I listen to when I'm in that mood while driving or working out. Mix that in with some ****** pop throwbacks too.

I think I mentioned this recently, but I like the music from Victorious. Victoria Justice isn't as good as Ariana Grande (and definitely didn't have as much success), but she's still a pretty good singer and the songs are catchy.

I've also been listening to a lot of Phantom of the Opera. First couple times it was just nostalgic, now I just like the music.

Ariana Grande, Ke$ha, and Miley Cyrus.

Though, only a few songs from each of them. A number of them aren't all that catchy to me.
