Seriously, what is it? It seems to me like people throw this word around a lot, but people always seems to use it to mean different things. So far, I've seen people use it to mean:

A story structured around the formation of a friendship (two men),
A male friendship which is used in conjunction with stuff that evokes romance,
A very close male friendship,
Close male friendship that could be mistaken for a romance,
Close friendship between anybody, no matter whether or not the people are men,
and another way to say homoerotic subtext.

So what definition is the right one? Is bromance a story genre, or a noun that means a close friendship?

The definition that is missing is, being committed to a friend that likes watching My Little Pony, thus being a brony.

The latter. Two men who have an emotionally tight relationship that could be mistaken as almost romantic. Definitely not a story genre. It's pretty much what it says on the tin - like a romance but with a total bro.

That's just an amalgamation of "bro", i.e. male, and "pony". Two bronies can have a bromance but bronies in themselves have nothing to do with bromances.

...I take my bromances very seriously okay. :U

There's a comedy music video by Chester See/Ryan Higa on YouTube that goes:

Bromance!
Nothing really gay about it
Not that there's anything wrong with being gay
Bro-o-omance
Shouldn't be ashamed or hide it
I love you in the most heterosexual way

it's a term men use to describe a very close friendship whilst also reinforcing their heterosexuality
This is how I would think it would be used as.
