Have you ever had any of your consoles repaired?

For example: I recently had my Nintendo 3DS repaired. For whatever reason I couldn't turn it on properly, which probably wasn't supposed to happen. But it was still under warranty so I set up a repair.

Before that I had to send my DS back 6 times until 2013. That's when my parents waited until the warranty ran out.

Before that we also had to have my GBA repaired once.

So yeah. Share your stories here.

I've replaced my Xbox 360 four times. I did three refurbs, and then missed the cutoff for my forth (which would've gotten me a brand new Xbox 360), so I had to go purchase one of the sleek, new ones. That one has worked fine since.

I also replaced my PS2 with the slim version once my bulky original one croaked.

I had to send my original white 360 to Microsoft to repair Red Rings. Then the disc tray wouldn't open so I got mad and sold it for parts.

I had to send my Wii to Nintendo because it wouldn't read Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I had to replace my original Indigo Gamecube with a Platinum one because it stopped reading discs altogether.

I've never sent in a console to be fixed, though to be fair I rarely ever have broken consoles. The only one I have had replaced was my original DS (the big silver one), but that was entirely my fault since I dropped it in water and was too young to know that I should have let the battery dry - my first instinct was to turn it on to see if it was okay. It wasn't. And then I got a new one.

I don't bother with repairs, might as well buy a new system for the price it costs to get some of that stuff repaired. I had to replace my first gamecube like a year and a half or so after I got it because I overplayed it and it just fell apart, and then I had to replace my PS2 twice, first because the fat one was crap and then I overplayed my first slim.

I've had the Red Ring twice in my life time. It was so painful. Funny enough, the second one was actually a replacement 360 someone got me for my birthday, so when I finally did send them in I had an extra I gave to my dad.

I baby all of my devices, not just consoles. My parents have taught us (my brother and I) very well on treasuring our items.

Never had to send in my consoles for repair, however part of the reason is also because Singapore has terrible official support for any console.
If it is dying due to age, we'll get a new one. Repaired items might not last that long too.

Playstation 1 died
Playstation 2 will only play ps1 games or ps2 games that are compatible with ps1 controllers (it refuses to work with ps2 ones :p)
XBox 360 had the red ring of death but was repaired.

Only Nintendo stuff has been fully reliable
(GBA, GC, Wii and 3Ds no problems) Only my DS is broke (on the hinges to close it) but it still plays games.

My DS Lite was showing signs of being broken once, when my top screen starting to getting freaky, and turned white several months later (which means it's unplayable), so I bring it to repair shop. Thankfully it got fixed though.

Nope, I haven't. I've been lucky enough to never get a RRoD or malfunctioning system or anything. My original SNES needed repairing, well more like a cable replacement, after my cat chewed through the power cord but I was young and it was after I had gotten my GameCube, so it was the least of my worries. I wish I had replaced it now though :(

I don't believe anything has ever happened to any of my console while they were under active use, thankfully. I always make sure to take well care of them, and try my best to keep away any single thing that could be harmful to the system, as well as clean regularly so that nothing winds up getting inside. It's not exactly a tough task, really; being a little careful like this could sometimes go a long, long way.

Only console that had ever stopped working correctly was my Nintendo 64, which would refuse to send any video signal when connected to a television. This happened years after I'd stopped using it and put it into my basement. It's kind of tough to tell what made the malfunction like this, but my best guess is that water, somehow, manged to get inside. If it weren't for that, it probably would've still been working.

Two 360s have died on me, and they're the only consoles I've ever lost. I take wonderful care of my things - I want them to last. The first was an Elite, second was a Slim.
The first was more or less dropped by my niece. The second was presumably a lightning strike. We lost power for a few seconds about 20 minutes after the storm had cleared, so I had figured it was a-okay to go back to Dead Rising 2. Clearly, it was not.

We 'fixed' the Elite, temporarily, with some thermal paste and some jury-rigging of the X-clamps. Never sent either in for repairs as both happened after the warranty so it's just not worth it. They're both sitting in my closet now. Just sitting there. Might as well buy a new console later or take another stab at DIY fixes. /shrug
Honestly, I've been replacing what games I can with PC copies because I just don't see myself bothering with another 360. Gears of War is really all that I'll miss.

That's pretty much how I've felt. I've heard the Wii U is an honestly solid system. Even my old, ooold Nintendo consoles (NES, SNES, N64) are fine. /knock on wood.

My original DS has a few dead pixels on the top-left of the top screen. But that doesn't make it unplayable, and if that's the worse that's happened after a good 8 or 9 years of horrible storage conditions, I'm certainly not complaining.

Yeah I think Nintendo really focus more on putting out quality products and winning customers that way, where as Microsoft and Sony can get away with sub-standard products, and rely on the games as marketing tools so that people need the consoles to play the games, and are happy to accept the consoles needing to be replaced or fixed to carry on playing.

None yet, luckily. And hope it stays that way. <_<; I always take really good care of my systems so I've yet to need them repaired and thankfully have yet to accidentally drop, wash, or so on. Wheeew.
