You know how water-type pokemon can make water appear from nowhere with their moves? I'm wondering, would that water be drinkable? I don't really see why it wouldn't be, but that brings up a lot of other questions in my mind. What do you think? I want to know this for my fanfiction.

I've seen the water that Water Pokemon release be compared to Miltank's milk. When that's compared to the real world equivalent, milk is usually pasteurized to make it safe for human consumption. While some people say that you can drink unpasteurized milk, it's generally thought to be unsafe.

You can imagine water from a Water Pokemon to be the same way. Since it's coming straight from another being, there might be germs or other things carried in it that can make humans sick unless the water is treated first. So humans can drink the water from a Water Pokemon, but only in desperate situations or if it's treated to make it safe for human consumption.

I remember as a kid when Ash and co. would be on their travels complaining of thirst I would always wonder why they didn't just get all of Misty's Water-type Pokémon to hydrate them, lol.

I think it would be a last resort, on the brink of severe dehydration situation. If less severe, it should probably be filtered. Maybe a creative possibility with dual-type Pokémon is for the water they produce to be affected by whatever their second type is, like a Tentacool/Tentacruel's water could potentially be toxic, while a Quagsire's water might have a bit of an earthy taste and a slightly more muddy or grainy texture? Maybe dual Water/Ice-type Pokémon produce really cold water. There's so many dual types with Water-type Pokémon you have a lot of possibilities.

But, in short, yes I think it would be possible.

In all cases, I don't think Water-Type Pokemon ever use fresh water for their moves. I came to this conclusion through the fact that they sell Fresh Water in the games. So, they use slat water, and we all know drinking salt water is a no-no for survival.
If it's not rocket science...you're doing it wrong.

Yes, but there is a potential issue regarding how it could effect health. With proper filtering, it surely can be safe for drinking. But without being filtered, it most likely can not due to the possible bacteria and other traits that would be harmful to humans and other Pokemon.
