Hey guys. So, I thought it would be cool to make a thread here dedicated specifically to the recent treatment that Pokémon and Gamefreak have been giving some of our favorite Legendary Pokémon. And, I wanna stress that this thread is dedicated only to Legendary Pokémon, not Mega Evolution in general, as they seem to be establishing a different standard for Legendaries than for other Pokémon.
What I mean by this is that, while they could have given Kyogre and Groudon Mega Evolutions like they did Mewtwo and Diancie, they have instead chosen to go the route of "Primal Reversion," which is more fitting to myths that establish Groudon/Kyogre within the Pokémon canon.
So far, only four legendaries have been given either Mega Evolution(s) or Primal Reversion(s): Mewtwo, Diancie, Groudon, and Kyogre. So, what, if anything, do you guys think Pokémon/Gamefreak will be doing with other Legendaries?
Personally, I think Lugia and Ho-Oh would be a perfect fit for something akin to what they've done with Kyogre and Groudon. I took one look at this
http://www.deviantart.com/art/Mega-Ho-Oh-WIP-464760904 and thought "Wow. This has to exist!"
However,
Primal Ho-Oh and
Primal Lugia don't really fit too much. It works for Kyogre/Groudon (and Rayquaza) because, well, those two are primal and biblical in nature. The myths surrounding Ho-oh and Lugia, while ancient, don't necessarily invoke the same primordial feeling one gleans from Kyogre/Groudon.
So, I think it would be more fitting to come up with two new forms for Lugia and Ho-Oh and aptly name them "Imperial Ho-Oh" and "Imperial Lugia." It fits because Johto is based off of the Kansai region of Japan, which was the region where most of the culture of
imperial Japan developed, due to the fact that Kyoto, the old imperial capital of Japan, was in this region.
So...that's what I think. What about you guys?
