Hey guys. So, I thought it would be cool to make a thread here dedicated specifically to the recent treatment that Pokémon and Gamefreak have been giving some of our favorite Legendary Pokémon. And, I wanna stress that this thread is dedicated only to Legendary Pokémon, not Mega Evolution in general, as they seem to be establishing a different standard for Legendaries than for other Pokémon.

What I mean by this is that, while they could have given Kyogre and Groudon Mega Evolutions like they did Mewtwo and Diancie, they have instead chosen to go the route of "Primal Reversion," which is more fitting to myths that establish Groudon/Kyogre within the Pokémon canon.

So far, only four legendaries have been given either Mega Evolution(s) or Primal Reversion(s): Mewtwo, Diancie, Groudon, and Kyogre. So, what, if anything, do you guys think Pokémon/Gamefreak will be doing with other Legendaries?

Personally, I think Lugia and Ho-Oh would be a perfect fit for something akin to what they've done with Kyogre and Groudon. I took one look at this http://www.deviantart.com/art/Mega-Ho-Oh-WIP-464760904 and thought "Wow. This has to exist!"

However, Primal Ho-Oh and Primal Lugia don't really fit too much. It works for Kyogre/Groudon (and Rayquaza) because, well, those two are primal and biblical in nature. The myths surrounding Ho-oh and Lugia, while ancient, don't necessarily invoke the same primordial feeling one gleans from Kyogre/Groudon.

So, I think it would be more fitting to come up with two new forms for Lugia and Ho-Oh and aptly name them "Imperial Ho-Oh" and "Imperial Lugia." It fits because Johto is based off of the Kansai region of Japan, which was the region where most of the culture of imperial Japan developed, due to the fact that Kyoto, the old imperial capital of Japan, was in this region.

So...that's what I think. What about you guys?

The Lugia/Ho-oh thing is really cool! But there is another legend that's been given a primal form, I've only played one Mystery Dungeon game, but in it it had primal Dialga, a Pokemon I really wish was in the main series of games. Then they could make a primal Palkia too!

I just want a fairy type Mega Dunsparce. WHY can't we have that? Oops only legends
Also, Primal Ho-oh and Lugia would be cool,
BUT,
Primal Rayquaza MUST happen!
I don't see a reason why Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre would exist, when Rayquaza is so crucial to their story

PMD is not really that canon and I doubt GF thought of mega evo or even primal reversion that long ago plus dialga never used any stone to become primal on that game.

I'd love to see a Mega Zekrom.

And what I think would also be cool would be if Kyurem got a Primal Reversion that transforms it back into the original Tao Dragon. I've always wondered what that Pokemon would be like, and Kyurem getting a Primal form sounds like a logical way to do that.

Same here. I don't see any reason why Rayquaza shouldn't get a Primal form.

I always wondered why the DNA Splicer isn't able to fuse Kyurem and the others together at the same time... technical limitations ftw

- Rayquaza (although I can't recall there being any green sphere that could be used to revert it back)
- Celebi (it's a time traveling Pokemon, so I don't know why there shouldn't be some Mega substitute)
- Arceus (it's the god of all Pokemon, but it seems a little bit too weak for the job (not counting competitive play, of course))
- Entei/Raikou/Suicune (maybe something that reverts them to their pre-death form, if there was any)

I've been wanting to see a mega-evolution for Flygon for some time, and would feel great if it were to finally happen. As I've stated in other threads, I understand that they have introduced enough dragon-type megas for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, but it certainly would not hurt for them to possibly do one more. Flygon's very popular among fans, seemingly, so it would do these guys more good than harm. Plus, this Pokémon is also native to Hoenn, which just puts icing on the cake.

Alongside, I'm hoping to see a mega-form for Milotic as well, due to similar reasons. Not exactly sure how it'd look in terms of design (perhaps it could grow more scales?), but in terms of typing, I could imagine it to turn into dragon, partially. As far as stats go, it'd likely be gaining boosts in Defense and Special Defense, so that it would be able to play better defensively.

Another Pokémon I would like to see a mega-evolution for at some point is Mightyena. It's quite underrated, if you ask me, so this should definitely help giving it more popularity.

Legendary pokemon, not common ones ;)

Personally I don't want them to go overboard with giving out megas and primals. It's better that the few that exist get to be that much more cooler. Though, primal forms for the Johto beast trio would indeed be interesting. Would they look anything like their eevelution counterparts, mayhaps? 8)

Whoops, my mistake; I misread, haha.

Anyway, if it were up to me to give any legendary Pokémon a mega-evolution of sorts, one would definitely have to be Jirachi. Appearance-wise, I could imagine its body to grow slightly, so that it would be able to resemble a star better, and its color-scheme would also brighten up. As far as stats go, it would be gaining boost in Speed and Attack, so that it'd be easier to utilize competitively and whatnot.

Alongside above, I'd also introduce Mega-Celebi. I'm not exactly sure how it would look in-design or what its stats would be, exactly, but in terms of typing, it would likely be partially fairy. This Pokémon could be related to the group in quite a few ways, so it would definitely make sense to have it categorized as fairy. Am sure many of us could agree on it!

I checked this out just for the long thread title.

I like the idea for Kyurem getting a Primal Reversion to the original Tao Dragon, that would be cool. Rayquaza needs a Primal form as well, it only makes sense.

I'd like to see Mew and Celebi get Megas. Mew because its clone got two of them. Celebi just because I think it would be cool. Personally, I'd like to see the original Legendary Birds get Megas, but that's probably the Genwunner coming out of me.

God knows that if the legendary bids get mega forms, then their trio master, Lugia, should get one as well.

Mega Mew is something I'd really, really like to see. Sadly, I don't think it's going to happen. Mew is our forgotten messiah. T_T

Mega Lugia is up there for me, to be honest. Lugia itself is a deadly looking Pokemon, add a bit o' Mega-evolution into the mix...

I went away but now I'm back again! ^_^
