Whenever you have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a snack, do you need to put a tv show on or a youtube video on to enjoy the meal?

I always have to play a youtube video when I eat because eating in silence is so awkward. I hate to hear myself chew. I also don't like to eat with other people because some of them talk with food still in their mouth or they chew loudly. So having something playing prevents me from listening to those weird sounds lol.

I don't eat a lot at every meal and I eat pretty quickly. I'm also indecisive. So while I absolutely prefer to watch something while I eat, usually by the time I finally load up a Youtube video or decide which series to watch an episode of on Netflix, I've pretty much finished my meal and then I have to sit there awkwardly watching something while itching to do go back to whatever I was doing before dinner, lmao.

Back when I had roommates I actually ate dinner with, there was actual chatting going on so I ate slower and had a better eating-to-watching ratio. :P We still tended to watch stuff while we ate more often than not, though.

Not necessarily, unless if it's the weekend and there's a sporting event I'm looking forward to watch, then yeah.

Hahaha yeah, I usually watch tv or an episode of a series or youtube or read something while I eat. Any meal :) Except lunch in school, where I sit with my friends and talk instead, of course! And some dinners where I force my boyfriend to sit down and talk to me instead of glaring at the tv screen ;)

I actually find it a bit of a drag to watch stuff, even just a video, so I'll only really watch something while eating if someone else has turned on something beforehand. Otherwise, it's not happening and I don't turn on stuff to watch just for the sake of eating.

Although not that it means I'll eat in silence or anything - I'll usually have some kind of music playing. Or even if I don't, I often don't notice what I'm doing while I eat. :X Which might be a bad thing. But whatever.

Oh yes, absolutely. I'm not entirely sure why, but just focusing on the meal itself is just... uncomfortable. I try to find something on Youtube to watch, or listen to while eating.

I suppose it's just a strange habit I'm overthinking. ;P

For me, there are times when I am watching something when I feel the need to eat something. Thus I am the opposite of the question.

When I'm eating alone at home, I've started watching YouTube videos. Generally of LPs. Not sure why... better than eating whilst staring at Google, I suppose!

No, I don't. I mean, I can. I don't have to though. I can watch, I can talk, I can do nothing. Doesn't matter.

If I'm at a restaurant, there's no TV. So, I don't see how that would be a necessity

Nope! I prefer to eat in the kitchen without watching anything. Gotta love my peace and quiet.

Sometimes I bring my hot pockets upstairs to my room though and put on a show or something, but that is very rare since I would rather not eat in my room or anywhere outside the kitchen for that matter.

I don't usually watch stuff on the computer.

That said, I do eat at the computer, so I usually read whatever website I'm on while I eat. So I need something in front of me these days. I'd be entertained by Netflix/Youtube though, if it were something I wanted.

Hm, this question can go both ways for me. I'm sort of used to watching YouTube videos on my phone by now but there will be times where I leave my phone upstairs and don't want to get it. But I would say most of the time I'm watching a video or listening to music. Sometimes, I go eat upstairs in my room or in the theater room lol. At school, I sometimes don't eat at lunch because all I wanna do is talk with people haha.

Speaking of eating, I'm gonna go eat right now actually. I need to catch up on some smash bros and pokemon vids :p

Oh and also forgot to say that I'm much more used to my phone than my laptop. So basically all things that require internet usually happen on my phone (which is really portable compared to my laptop and more convenient).

I don't need to. More like it's become a habit, haha.

I'm almost always home alone when it comes to breakfast or lunch, or just mid-day snacking, and presuming I'm not busy at the time, I usually already have a game loaded up, or I'm watching or reading something online, or what have you. So it just.. kind of happens together.

As it's been mentioned before, it can also be the opposite 'problem' for me -- if I'm playing a game or watching TV, I'll eventually feel like I should be eating too, just because habit.
I'll never understand Boyfriend's aversion to popcorn with movies.

When it comes time for dinner, Boyfriend is here, too, and we always watch something together. It's usually med shows - needles freak him out and I'm cruel - but lately I've been giving him a little break and requesting to watch Lost Girl instead. :)

When I eat, I must be talking to somebody (or at least with someone) or watching something. When Im alone, I watch youtube videos, play mine craft, read a book, or poke community as I eat. I find it hard eating without something to do.

I'm a bit of a quick eater (takes me less than 15 minutes to finish a relatively good sized meal, hurrah) so I just focus on enriching my eating experience. :p When I'm watching something though, like a TV show or a movie, I can't start unless I've got something to munch on.

I usually listen to music and/or read while eating. If neither of those things, I generally sit in my own head while eating. I've had people tell me that I can just sit in a spot while staring down at my empty plate/bowl/whatever for a while before finally noticing that I have nothing left to eat.

I can't eat certain things while watching TV cause the sound always distracts me. Same way during some conversations. My attention is instantly grabbed by someone making an annoying or sudden noise.

Yeah, I do. Whilst I used to eat alone when doing things on the computer and sometimes did watch something, when my fiance moved in, he pretty much exclusively preferred watching things and eating. So whenever we eat a meal, we turn on Netflix and watch the show we're currently getting through. It's fun and a nice break from all of the things I tend to do at once. Just good to relax and not think for a time.
