This is an odd question but it's something I noticed that there are 2 groups of people with opposing opinions on this.

Some people will find it a cute gesture if a dog or cat licks your face because they show that they care and like you and stuff. However there are some people who may still think it's a cute gesture, find it to be rather unsanitary and/or just plain gross.

I think it's cute but at the same time I will always try to move my head away so that they can stop. I'd let them lick my hand but then immediately wash it afterwards.

tl;dr, do you think it's cute or gross?

yeah im that gross **** that lets their dog lick their face and hands and doesn't care at all. Like I'm sorry we love each other
Lmao I never said people shouldn't do it. I think it's a sweet gesture, I just wouldn't want to do it. However there are some people out there who just find it plainly gross, so I'm curious to see if anyone is on that side of the coin.

I'm okay when my dogs lick my face, but it's not really a gesture I encourage. My own dog is trained to not lick me (though she'll lick other people happily), and my mother's dog very rarely licks me.

As for cats, I don't really mind that at all. I think it's adorable when they do that, but my cats never lick me anymore. One of my cats did give my chin a thorough bath when I brought her home as a kitten.

I honestly don't like it when anything or anyone is even close enough to lick me, unless I put myself in that position. I'm weird about my personal space.

In spite of that, I appreciate the friendliness of someone's pet when they do show affection, even if it does make me uncomfortable. I will still smile and say, "Aww. What a sweetie." I will also be slowly easing away.

I'm not very cuddly for the most part. :s

Hands I don't usually mind, especially if it's a cat...if it's a dog I'll probably end up wiping off my hands soon after because ew. I'm rather indifferent towards that, maybe going slightly towards "aww how cute".

Face though, I would really rather not. I'm not too worried about it being unsanitary or anything, I just don't like it.

Every time I have my hand in my dog's face, it will not stop licking. I think that's really sweet.

The only pets I ever had were fish.

A dog would be friendly, I suppose, but too high maintenance for me. I'd probably do better with a cat.

But in either case, or any of animal really, I just don't want something in my house that isn't a human toddler that would be crapping around. Or shedding hair. Leaking fluids from either end. etc.

So no, don't like animal licks.

I'm actually surprised how "sandy" cats tongues are when they lick you. It's almost like you're running your hand across sandpaper; I surprisingly prefer that feeling over a dog's wet tongue licking me, moreover because they have ridiculous bad breath and makes me want to gag when it does happen.

That's because cats have a comb-like spikes on their tongue. So licking their own fur really does help bathing and combing.

A dog licking your face can mean one of two things: Showing your dominance as the 'alpha' dog, or you must have mustard on your face.

Another note would have it that you should brush your dog's teeth if your dog's breath smells horrible. They make dog bones designed to clean their teeth and there's even dog tooth paste.

Sure, I let my dog lick my face. It's not like some dogs that seem to be trying to lick your skin off so it doesn't last long, but I tend to wash my hands after having my hands licked as I can't stand anything slimy on my hands.

I find dog or cat licking me as the sign of affection, even though I still need to take a bath or wash my hands or feet after interacting with them.

NOPE. Not the face, not the hands. I mean, it's not really an issue here. My cats don't really lick. Bandit rubs her face on your arm and effectively gets her wet nose and/or some spit on you, but she doesn't outright lick anything. Dusty does it when you let him sniff your finger - and my god, does that cat love to sniff fingers, it's like his crack - then I'll pet him and nuzzle him and tell him how cute it was that he 'cleaned me'.. and then immediately wash my hands. Twice.

I love you and adore you.. but I prep my food with those, cat. Lick my leg. Rub your snot on my arm. Use my leg as a scratching post. I don't care. Just not my hands or my face pls.

I don't like the sandy feel of a cat's tongue so I'm not really fond of when they lick me. :( Dogs I don't mind though, considering I've grown up with dogs. A little lick of the hand or cheek is fine, but anything more... YUCK
