These are the only players I know of that run cookie cutter teams and legendary pokes 95% of the time. They abuse the game mechanics to the point where its not fun to play anymore. Then when they get ran over, they rage quit.

List of main pokes they use:
Thundurus (both forms, mostly -T tho)
Latias
Latios
Heatran
Cresselia
Hydreigon
Mega Blaziken
Mega Kangaskhan (rare to see on my end)
Greninja
Suicune (Sheer cold setup, only....)
Other OHKO setups

My W/L ratio is about 6:1. Curious to see if anyone experiences this as well and maybe some strategies they have against this. When I do lose, my ranking always drops are large sum no matter if they are a lower rating than me or higher. Somewhere around 40-60 points per loss. I just don't get it.

PS. Most Japanese players are extremely bad at this game.

I think I'll just bump this on down to BTB....

Moves.

But the reason why cookie cutter teams and the same few Pokemon are used is because most people battle competitively to win, and the cookie cutter teams are often tried and true methods that generally work, not to mention that the majority of the battling community (and this isn't exclusive to just Japanese players) simply lack the skill and creativity to go outside the usual sets and teams.

I'd rather avoid playing than playing against generic players.

I want to win, but not with a guarantee that I will do. That's a waste of time.

As I am a robot, I am incapable of dreaming, but... how shall I put it? I have very much longed to

So you're upset that they use strategies that win? I get the rage quitting part, but being Japanese doesn't mean you rage quit. Anyone that has trouble accepting a loss will rage quit, that's just a sad fact.

"Most Japanese players are extremely bad at this game." Really this thread is coming across as a bit racist.

Anyone can be bad, regardless of their ethnicity. Anyone can rage quit, regardless of their ethnicity. I believe the problem here is you're misplacing your frustration of the current metagame on Japanese players.

You should steer clear from competitive battling, then, since you will face similar strategies over and over again. Though the fact that you haphazardly called out Japanese players for using strategies that are also used by many other non-Japanese players makes me think whether you're actually aware that a competitive Pokemon battling community such as Smogon exists.

PS. Most Japanese players are extremely bad at this game.
I'd avoid that sort of generalizing if I were you. It comes off a tad racist.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to come off racist. I just play mostly Japanese players (1600+ rating, not many other players from other countries above that rating.) Its not a "strategy" when you use assist spore meowstic or spam sleep powder. I've been trying to find a way around it, but to no preveil. I play for the battles, its like virtual chess to me. It takes skill to play and be really good at this game. In D/P/Pt, I was a top tier player and its the same in X/Y. I don't have a top tier team of people to playtest with anymore. I would like to find a way around all the WiFi BS without having to just not play.

Then play Showdown or find battles on the forums. If your so tired of the same pokes and strategies, try something other than OU. I play NU- I think you will like it because of all the diversity, lack of cookie cutter, and interesting strategies with pokes you don't see very often.

"Tryhard" / "Sheep" is a multi-racial category my friend, not restricted to any one nationality. And yes lol saying that japanese players specifically are bad at pokemon, is outright racist. I'm not raising a burning pitchfork and trying to ostracize you for this, but you may wanna cool it on singling out nationalities for statements like that. :P

As for what point you were trying to bring up here, any player in a ratings battle is more likely to be on a competitive level, and japanese culture is typically (and I'm not agreeing with what you're saying here whatsoever) much more conducive to a left brain focused approach to things, meaning less creative problem solving and strategy solutions; ie; seeing cookie cutter teams. That OF COURSE, does not mean ANY japanese player is going to have that kind of team, it just means their demographic is statistically more likely to have a swagon certified team of garchomp, thundorus, scizor etc;. If anyone doubts this claim, you can actually check the GTS page on Pokemon's site for them numbers.
