It's Oct. 14th and I'm already seeing Christmas commercials

Not really. I don't mind seeing them this early, even if admittedly I can understand why. After Halloween, though, is when gift getting will start to get big.

I hate the fact that franchises abuse Christmas to make profit, they have no reason to start selling Christmas products this early. I don't even get into anything Christmas related until after Thanksgiving. Franchises seem to think Christmas is the only holiday.

I haven't seen a commercial yet thankfully, but I've been to a few stores that already Christmas dominated with a little section reserved for Halloween

I don't get jolly until after Thanksgiving so it can get a little weird to see Christmas stuff so early. Especially when we haven't even had Halloween yet. But usually around this time I'm getting excited for the holiday season in general so I don't mind all that much. Just give me time to be spooky and thankful before it's time to start chugging eggnog.

I haven't seen anything too Christmasy where I live. It actually shocks me because usually I do. I'm pretty sure Walmart has Christmas stuff all set up by now. I wouldn't know because we haven't been there in a while. I know last year, they had stuff up by the first of October, and I was like "wtf?!" I start getting into Christmas a bit by November 1st, but it really comes out after Thanksgiving (considering my tradition is watching Macy's Parade since I was little. My grandmother started that one lol).

If it means anything though, I don't even know what I want for Christmas. I think it's too early to think about it, but my parents do like to plan ahead to avoid the early Christmas rush.

Haha, I made this thread last year.

AND YES

This bugs me so much. If it were up to me, it would be illegal to advertise Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. Some people like it, but I don't get into the Christmas spirit until the day of Christmas, so I'm the local Scrooge in my family.

Everybody in October: "Oh my ****ing GOD it's only October why is there Christmas crap up everywhere already this is outrageous, such money grubbing."

Everybody in December: "Oh my ****ing GOD Christmas is right around the corner, how did this happen, I've done nothing, it's as though I had no warning!"

I'm a pretty strict netflix and on demand girl so I don't encounter commercials anymore (THANK GOD) but I do work in retail so I encounter "the people." Basically I've noticed since the start of October the store has been busier on any given day of the week. Obviously Monday-Tuesday is nothing compared to Saturday, but I notice its substantially more people than a Monday-Tuesday in September.

People are already holiday shopping. They come up to me and tell me how they're buying for their "bllahablahbl relative" that I don't care about, and then they want a gift receipt, and then they want to know the return policy, and then they end with a complaint about the price or a coupon. Typical holiday stuff and this isn't even the worst yet.
The commercials are annoying, but seeing the food in the shops definitely is not - there are some wonderful things you can only get easily at Christmas, and I am totally fine of taking advantage of this three months ahead of schedule. Christmas bakewells are awesome, and so are mince pies, and the expensive luxury shortbread tins. Plus the massive gingerbread men. Oh, and the cake. The chocolates. Yeah, totally fine with Christmas food being available in October. xD

I don't typically think about Christmas until November 25th - the day after my mother's birthday - but I usually have all my shopping done well before that date...mostly because my family see things they want in the year and are quite happy to wait until Christmas for them. Asides my mother, I've already done all my Christmas shopping this year. xD

I'd venture to say that I love Christmas much more than the average person, seeing as how both my birthday and my dad's are within two weeks of it, which makes the holidays stretch a little bit longer. That said, my work just put a bunch of advent calendars in our promotional aisle's overstock, and I just shook my head when I saw it. I've got no problem when everything goes into full-blown Christmas mode after Halloween, but even that's still more than 2 weeks away, which is why it's a bit ridiculous seeing things popping up now.

I get why they promote the Christmas stuff so early. I understand that their goal is to get people to prepare early so they aren't rushing at the last minute in the week of Christmas to get their gifts and decorations and such. I get that. But still, I think it's too early when I go into Target in late September/ early October and see Christmas stuff peaking behind the Halloween section. I thinkputting Holiday stuff out late October (like next week or the week of Halloween.) or early November gives people enough time to get what they need. It still feels a bit too early for it now. Wait a week or two before getting ready. Why I hate commercialism at times honestly.
"Unable to perceive the shape of You, I find You all around me. Your presence fills my eyes with Your love, It humbles my heart, For You are everywhere"
I really hate how the media and retailers are starting with Christmas stuff earlier and earlier. Already I've been seeing Christmas decorations in some stores over the past couple of weeks. Seems like now they start as soon as Labor Day.

It's just like how they start "Back To School" sales earlier and earlier-currently they already start in mid-July. I wouldn't be surprised, especially with the one-world government coming to fruition, if within a few years, they'll be advertising Back to School immediately after Memorial Day (before the previous school year even finishes!)

I'm more annoyed with some places leaving their Christmas decorations months after the event.
My family doesn't leave decorations up and out, but we do leave our Christmas house lights up till... late winter or so? Would rather take them down once it's a bit warmer and the snow is melting rather than getting up on the rooftop in the dead of winter.

They're not illuminated passed the date of Epiphany though.

Why isn't anyone paying to this? It makes it sound like a smart business move for companies to avoid people being late to buy gifts for their friends and family.

I haven't seen any Christmas merchandise in any of the stores I go to, nor have I seen any Christmas commercials on TV as of yet.

Well, few days, even few weeks is okay. But in some places I go there are decorations right up until March. Some malls leave their decorations until mid-February where they can't use your excuse anyways.
