I only recently started to really get into music ive been a singer for awhile but never got into listening to music until some of the newest artists started to sing. For me i got it from the radio that was on a lot and then i decided to go to pandora and listen to them and now i cant stop listening to music and blaring it ;)

Over the years, I've gotten into a whole lot of different types of music, bands, and songs, but the main influences for my music tastes would probably be my mom and dad and my aunt and uncle growing up, and one of my good friends during high school and since then. Always been into music, and always learning about new music, whether it's directly from someone or online somewhere or whatever.

My dad used to play a lot of 80s and 90s music when I was growing up. So when I got my first mp3 the only artist I could really think of was one my dad exposed me to which was the Smashing Pumpkins. So I got a lot of their music to start off my "musical adventure", and eventually my interests broadened to where I now appreciate and listen to music from many different genres.
Well, when I was about 13, a friend of mine was listening to a Chimaira CD on the train. It was murderously loud, and it attracted my attention, so I asked if I could listen as well...and I found that I actually really liked it. I kinda branched off from there - he lent me a ton of CDs, and I explored on my own mostly through related videos on Youtube from there.

As I got more into anime and video games as I got older, I found that side of my musical interest through the shows I watched and games I played. My dad has a huge collection of classical music CDs - and I grew up watching Tom and Jerry, which used all sorts of classical music pieces as background music - and my mother instilled me with my guilty pleasure love of 80s pop, as she used to listen to it in the car on the way home. xD

I was in concert band for pretty much 3/4ths of my life.

I think that gave me an appreciation for all types of music, even though we really only ever played classics, Christmas music, some tunes from pop culture, and some jazz.

But I have a wide variety of musical interests. I tend to gravitate towards the indie music, and the pop music in particular. I remember when I first started listening to music on my own, I was pretty uninterested in any music that had lyrics to it. I thought it was cheap music and pretty much looked down on it.
