I have started spending some time looking in this section of the forums and I see so many post/threads about systems/games people have or currently playing pertaining to Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. It really interest me in how many of our members are still playing last Gen Consoles and how many are playing current gen consoles due to the evidence I see on so many Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 gamers.

It's been almost a year since Xbox One & PS4 were released. Myself I own PS3,Xbox 360, PS4 & Xbox One. My PS3, Xbox 360 and all there games are now stored away and will never see daylight again like all my other past consoles. My PS4 is my main console and what I currently play. My Xbox One I still have in the box and will never open because I have moved away from using Microsoft consoles(I just bought it to add to my collection).

My question is do you still own/play a PS3 or a Xbox 360? Do you own/play a PS4/Xbox One? Do you own both last and current gen consoles? If you are still playing PS3 or Xbox 360 and haven't moved onto PS4 & Xbox One, What is your reason?

I still play my PS3 because every game that I want to get that is coming out for PS4 is also coming out for PS3. I have no reason to upgrade. The only current gen console I own is the Wii U and I love it.

All I have is last gen consoles. Besides the fact that it doesn't quite feel like we've completely transitioned from one gen to the next, there's little on the PS4 and Xbone currently that interests me. There's some things on the WiiU I'd like, but.....

Besides, there's still stuff worth playing on last gen.

I moved away from Microsoft consoles just recently with the current gen. It was due to the information leaked/given on the system right before released. Things such as Games locked to your system was one of the things. It honestly doesn't effect me due to the fact I don't have people to share my games with but I look at the larger picture when I buy a system. Microsoft felt to me like they were doing more harm to their customers then good compared to Sony.

Don't get me wrong like I said I bought and own a Xbox One, I just don't use it due to my outlook on Microsoft.

I'm in a probably odd position were I have a current gen console and really want a last gen console to accompany it.

I have a PS4 which I only got so early because my X360 broke October last year. There has been a lot of games I've missed that aren't on current gen in 2014 and a few PS3 games I've never had the chance to play so I kind of want a PS3 so I can play through those games*. It would also be nice to be able to play some of my favourite games of that generation again I guess. The extra free titles from PS+ would be nice too. That said if I did own both, I'm sure PS4 would dominate playtime for this holiday season onwards since there's so many good releases.

* I realise PSNow is a thing, but it probably won't be worth it if it keeps similar pricing to now and it won't hit the UK for a while. The PSNow library will probably exclude some of the Japanese games I want too.

Microsoft has done a complete 180 nowadays though. They're really community driven with a lot of their updates, and Phil Spencer actually takes a really active role in making sure that Xbox gamers get the experience that they truly want. Obviously it's up to you in the end, but you should try out the Xbox One you have just collecting dust in your house; you'd be pretty surprised with how much progress it has made since it's initial release.

As far as entertainment goes, I believe both current and last generation of consoles are equally as good; although former might be more advanced than latter in things such as graphics and features, they all still do that particular job pretty well. At least in my eyes.

Do I still own or play any previous-generation console? Yep, I do. Currently, I own Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2, and an Xbox 360. N64, unfortunately, no longer works; water somehow managed to make its way inside, causing its hardware to fail. When I plug it in, it does seem to turn its lights on, but no single gets sent into the television screen. PlayStation 2--this one works, but haven't played games on it in about three years. (Maybe four? I don't really remember.) Might trade the console in at some point, however; been planning to do it for an extremely long time, but always wound up forgetting.

As far as my 360 goes, it functions perfectly fine, and yes, I still do play games on it, and so does my dad. I've got a lot of video games for this particular console, but didn't finish all of them; some of them didn't exactly seem to interest me as much as others, which caused me to stop. I might try playing them again in future, though, once I'm in the mood!
I have a PS4, but I've hardly touched it since I bought it...it doesn't have any games worth playing on it that I can't get on the PS3 right now, really. I bought it because it was on offer and I'd made the money for it through selling stuff, but I really wish I'd waited now. I should be getting Lords of the Fallen for my birthday, but still, there isn't much in the future lineup that interests me at the moment. Like the Vita before it (which I had for almost a year before I started playing in earnest) it's going to take some time for it to be worthwhile for me. Similarly, I've had my Wii U for about a year and barely played it due to lack of games.

I've still got my PS3, and I play that more than I do my current gen consoles. Not only because my gaming library is considerably bigger, but because games are still being released for it that I want to play. I'm having trouble thinking of next gen as "next gen" to be honest, because there is so little to them that is actually original. I mean, they're crawling with HD remasters of games that really didn't need HD remasters (The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, etc) and not much in the way of what I'm interested in.

I don't own a 360 anymore - I sold it for PS Vita funds - and I doubt I'll ever buy an Xbox One - I don't like Microsoft consoles. I still have my Wii as well, since it can play Gamecube games.

I was talking more so in sense of just last gen and this gen but if we want to list the systems we own and use let me have a shot at this.

Sega Genesis
Super Nintendo
PlayStation 1
Sega Saturn
Nintendo 64
Dreamcast
PlayStation 2
Nintendo Gamecube
Xbox
Xbox 360
PlayStation 3
PlayStation 4
Xbox One
Gameboy
Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance
Gameboy Advance SP
Nintendo DS
Nintendo DS Light
Nintendo DSI
Nintendo DSI XL
Nintendo 3DS
Nintendo 3DS XL

I don't know my exact library of games from the past 16 years of gaming but I do know I have 19 medium size boxes so far of just games in the walk in closet I store it all in. Again I don't play any of the systems or games that aren't current generation.

I keep up with current gen consoles/handhelds and always buy the current systems upon release for the past couple years even if they don't have many games or titles for years to come just for the simple fact of the improved graphics, tools, utilities they have to offer. I always seem to find at least 2-3 games though upon release or right after that I enjoy but then again I am only really into Call of Duty, Battlefield, WWE, GTA & Pokemon Franchise of games now a days, the rest of the games released now a days I don't even look into or care about due to the fact that Call of Duty & Battlefield multiplayer keeps me entertained for basically the whole generation and then Pokemon, WWE & GTA on free time.

First of all... How the **** did you find money to own all of these? :P

Second, I think you're right in playing only current gen. Older consoles are a ***** to setup and look like crap on HD flatscreens.

Third, I think, if you didn't want to support Microsoft, you shouldn't have bought an Xbox One. But I guess each person views this differently.

Fourth, maybe add a 3DO to that nice collection of yours?

Buying a console just to add it to the collection... someone's a rich boy.

I only own PS3 now so I belong to the older gen but even after I get a PS4 I don't plan on stopping playing on it.
There are many JRPGs to clear on PS3 and not enough on PS4 :P

Like most people here I still have so many games I want to play on my last gen console (PS3), because I did not finde the time to do so.
If somebody would give a PS4 to me as a gift the only games I would buy a PS3 Ports with updated graphics or other games which also came out for both generations (like the Metal Gear V Prologue, which I do want to play on the best graphics possible and therefore I prefere on waiting).

For me and my taste of gaming there is no exklusive game which I really would want to play. While there already on it to release all these updated gaming ports of last gen games, I really would like a port of the Mass Effect Trilogy, Fallout 3 & New Vegas as well as Skyrim. I do not have a gaming PC or a 360 and the PS3 ports of those games are crap. These would be the biggest reason to buy a PS4 for me at the moment. And all the games which are gonna be released in the next time there is no real reason for me to be a PS4 in the next time too. Maybe when Metal Gear Solid 5 and Silent Hills are released.

As for the Wii and the Wii U. I really would like the Wii U. Every "hardcore gamer" complains about that there are no good games on Wii U and you always only can rely on the Nintendo games, but there are more good Nintendo games released than PS4 or Xbox One has exklusive games which interest me.
But I did not have the Wii for a long time and because I got one last month really cheap I first want to recap all the great Wii games I missed. No matter how good Super Mario 3D Land looks to me I still have both Galaxy titles to play first.^^

1. The older systems were birthday/holiday presents growing up as a kid. Anything from the 1990's till about 2010 I didn't buy. Starting with last Gen consoles/handhelds is when I started buying. Now as far as all the games as of course as a kid I didn't get 50-100 games per system or more per year. Well in the past few years I started collecting as many games as I could find and afford for past generation systems along with keeping current gen consoles games for myself and preorders. It's all about balance. It does seem like alot but I have had about 16 years of collecting and 4 years collecting on my own. I spend about 500-1,000 dollars monthly. I get all my Preorders for current gen first then I spend money adding to my current collection.

2. Exactly

3. I agree in the way. The purchase of the Xbox One is a sign of support to Microsoft since I dished out the 600 dollars to them for their console but in my own eyes I only did it to add to my collection. I can see how others would see it though.

4. Next month I can't afford much due to all the preorders I did but I do plan on trying to own every game system possible at one point. Working on getting the atari's at this moment.

I still own and use a Xbox 360. I don't have an Xbox One yet. As for why I don't have one yet is because I don't plan on buying one until next year.

That's probably a smart thing too. However I can't see how you're able to withhold yourself from buying one now; there are so man awesome system bundles coming out lately - Assassin's Creed, Sunset Overdrive, Call of Duty - that I'd find it really tempting to buy one now.

Have fun buying the NEO Geo. Those cost a pretty penny to acquire.

For what it's worth, I think of myself as more of a retro gamer so most of my time and money goes into games for older consoles like N64, GameCube, and PS2. Anyway, I keep up with all Nintendo consoles. As for Sony and Microsoft, I have a 360 and no intentions of getting an Xbox One or anything else from Microsoft. I have a PS2 and plan on buying a friend's PS3 and maybe a PS4 in the very, very distant future.

For me, it really depends on the library of games and the money I have. It's never been a thing of "I want to play online" or "better graphics!!" or any of that with me. It's almost always, "omg that game i want that" except with Nintendo where they...own my life. lol In a good way, not a sheep way. :P

Buuuuut as I said before, most of my money and efforts go into older stuff. n___n I haven't really left 1996-2005 haha.
