So; I honestly can't tell if this is a very well funded joke, or if there's really a team out there that thought this would be taken seriously. Please be warned, this trailer is violent, contains *strong* language, and both very mature - and juvenile themes. Oh, and angst. More angst than you've ever handled or seen.

[Find the trailer on YouTube]

I lost it at the Linkin Park. But I was already close to losing it at "I've always wanted to die violently"

Sorry, I didn't feel that trailer was appropriate for PC. Far too violent and graphic. Members that wish to see it may find it themselves as it is available on YouTube.

As for the actual game, it looks bad and is only making noise because it's controversial. I don't feel like glorified violence because of "hatred" promotes a terrible message. I wouldn't have bought it anyway, real or not.

Oh whoops, sorry about that - my mistake on posting the actual video. It was done hastily in a fit of hysterical laughter and tears. I investigated a bit by checking out the devteam's website though, not sure if I should link that since it has the video embedded there - but it seems to be serious. They're amateur coders and game designers with "Hatred" being their first game. I feel slightly sorry for discounting this game (their honest attempt and result of hard work) so quickly; but it's just waaaay too overtly bad. Everything about it just, I can't.

This game in a nutshell:

Spoiler:

When will people learn that being "edgy" by using an anti-hero, dark colors, constant swearing, and over-the-top violence doesn't make your product good, which is why I question Kill La Kill's status of saving anime rather than Attack on Titan. It gets worse that this game is bringing back the tired old "violent video games causes real violence" argument to those with little knowledge of video games.

Probably gonna be the only one who thinks it but I'd play that game. I mean don't get me wrong, it's really cliche and cringe inducing when the bloke is talking about how he "hates the human worms feasting on the Earth's carcass" or whatever he says. But the whole run around kill everyone thing gives off a GTA feel, and I like GTA.

I'd play this game unless ALL there was to do was run around and mindlessly kill people. I like a good plot, and optional-yet-you-sort-of-need-to-do-them-to-progress missions.

I went away but now I'm back again! ^_^

Well, that certainly wasn't angsty as ****. The whole "I hate humans and the world so I'm gonna kill off the human race" thing has been done before, and can actually provide for a good story if done right.....but this has no story. At all. It's just some gravelly voiced guy who goes around shooting and stabbing people for who knows what reason, if any. It's like some brooding teenager was placed in an adult's body and given a bunch of weapons.

The only reason I'm kind of interested in this game was there's destructible environments (he shoots a wall and it breaks) that's the only thing that was interesting about it. The whole "I hate everything" feels very forced in.
I don't know what to put here, not allowed to post gifs, not even by putting it in a spoiler, so have some empty space:

Oh wow. I honestly didn't know what to expect. To be perfectly blunt, I don't know how well this game is going to do. Gore aside, I'm more talking about the "terrorist" feel that I'm getting from the game. Considering all of the backlash that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 got with it's "No Russian" mission shooting up the people in the airport, i'm curious if the public will have the same reaction and take action. But then again, this company isn't as big of a household name as the Call of Duty brand, so maybe it will fly under the radar.

Side note: Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like the developers of this game ripped off the character design of Gabriel Belmont from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for the character in their game.

Well you see the problem with their "protagon-angst" is that he's so flippin' generic to a brooding angry life-loathing sleaze; there's a million of him already. I mean, anybody here watch Metalocalypse? This guy might as well be Nathan Explosion. He's even got the voice and attitude.

And then there's tommy towadi from prey;
(who's actually a pretty okay character in a really good game)
Spoiler:

But the "Hatred" guy is so bland and one dimensional, with so few defining characteristics - his face might as well have no features. So he can look like Death from Darksiders 2.

Oh and can we just talk for a second, about how he puts everything from that entire side of the table into just ONE side of his jacket; and it like all fits without so much as a damn bulge???? This guys got a more mysterious pocket system than Tomba or Link.

Oh look, they ripped off the Doom font for the title:

Looks like a bunch of people who liked Postal wanted to make a similar game. Don't see much problem with it myself, just looks like a game designed for taking out your aggression, just like all violent video games.

Just found this, and had to share - checked with Klippy to make sure it was safe to actually post here too, with some.... creative censoring lol

My name is important
This is not a time of vengeance

That lettering really does come straight out of Doom tho- and oo, late development on this story. Epic Games (love them) apparently wants the Unreal Engine 4 logo taken off their page and the game's conceptual case. They said they respect the teams creative freedom, and Unreal Engine 4 is and always will be available for public use, and while they exert no pressure of censorship in any way on people who would use their engine for games, Destructive Creations is using the U4 logo without permission or consent of Epic for advertising purposes. They also made sure to state that Epic is in no way associated with the game's development, creation, or distribution. lol They don't want to touch Hatred with a 29 1/2 foot pole.

It seems more to me like they just don't like having their brand put on something like that without their permission. I mean it is kinda a jerk move to put it in there for advertising without asking first.
The developer described Hatred 's as a reaction to video game aesthetic trends such as political correctness, politeness, vivid color, and games as art.
Sounds about right. It's a game made to be the opposite of what is standard today in gaming.

Also, I just want to point out that senseless violence has been a part of human culture for a while now. Just looking back in the 70s and 80s, there was a ton of movies out there just for the purpose of shocking you with violence. Usually with a paper thin plot to justify the blood. Movies like Cannibal Holocaust, which while the story seemed to be about sensationalism, was itself presented in a sensationalistic manner. It was inevitable that we would have video games in the same vein. It isn't even just America! Italy had a subgenre of horror back in the day that was extremely violent, and Japan had a series of films called Guinea Pig, which is basically plotless dismemberment (pretty much faked snuff films I suppose).

Hey, guys! I just noticed that the release for this game is on June 1st. Now, I know I'm gonna buy it, just to see how it stacks up next to the Postal series, but is anyone else going to try it? I know it's probably not going to be the best game, but it looks like they put a lot of work into it. Just because something is controversial for the sake of being controversial doesn't mean it will be bad.

I am definitely going to try it. I probably won't be able to play it on day one due to reasons, but I am definitely going to give it a try on week one. I've honestly been dying to play it since the trailer first came out.

I just hope this doesn't turn in one of those controversial games were the only fun part is that the game was controversial.

As I am a robot, I am incapable of dreaming, but... how shall I put it? I have very much longed to

Yeah I won't be able to get it on release day either, but it's not exactly a game that I care about doing that with.

I hope I can do my favorite kill from Postal 2.

This game is the equivalent of a Leni Riefenstahl film: great execution, terrible subject.

At least it got an M rating, and I'm usually against ESRB ratings.

It should be allowed to exist, because videogames will only make you want to kill people if you're a psycho, and psychos are the exception, not the rule. Though the protagonist isn't someone I'd aspire to be.

*Ao rating.

Yes, this game is so bad it has an Adults Only rating. I think it's the third game to get this rating for depictions of violence.

I'm still not planning to buy this game, because I'll be only supporting the "edgy" factor if I did. Speaking of which:

The developer described Hatred 's as a reaction to video game aesthetic trends such as political correctness, politeness, vivid color, and games as art.

I thought today's AAA titles are already doing that with Metal Gear Rising and Devil May Cry?

It's more in the line of A Serbian Film.

Honestly, this is the only reason why I'm interested to begin with.

Just think...if all you social justice warriors well-intentioned idiots had kept your mouths shut and stopped trying to dictate what should and shouldn't be in video games, we wouldn't be having this now.

You only have yourselves to blame.
