So, you may know that certain pokemon have branched evolutions; mainly, some pokemon have certain conditions upon evolving, like Gloom, being able to evolve to Vileplume with a leaf stone, and bellosom with a sun stone. Most Pokémon that evolve through branch evolution do so in their basic forms, and do not make it to a second evolution.

What's your favourite branch family of pokemon? Do you think there's a pokemon that needs to be included in a branch family, or add a branch family to it? You can see the pokemon with branched familes here.

Anyway, my favourite branched family would be the eevee branched family. They're all so unique in their own way, and it's quite amazing that they can potentially create new eeveelution families too! I also found that the art of each of then is uniquely interesting, because they are different! C:

My favorite is Oddish as I really like both Vileplume and Bellossom. I'm a lover of grass types so it's hard not to pick them honestly.

I think it can be hard to tell which Pokemon should have a branched family as really any Pokemon can. I guess I would of liked to see Bellsprout also get a branch, but I don't believe it's as popular as the Oddish line so maybe that's why.

I'd like to see more branches sometime as it's been a while. I know Sylveon practically just happened, but getting another eevee branch really isn't too surprising.

Oddish, no doubt. I mean just look at Vileplume and Bellossom, they look amazing <3 I wouldn't say to add Pokemon, but I would love to see a Mega VIleplume and Mega Bellossom that is Grass/Fairy since I think they overlooked at Bellossom not retyped to Fairy :/ They did it with the Ralts family, so why not happen in another family?

But if we are talking about branches in other Pokemon, It's really hard to think, Like Virgo said, there are only a few Pokemon that need them really. Maybe give Luvdisc two branches, so that it won't be that useless? Maybe even give Male Combee an evolution, but that would remove his uniqueness tho :/

My obvious fave Pokemon family has to be the Oshawott evolution line, as if you already knew why I always love the blue otter. So it's fitting I'm a fan of the whole line as well, especially that awesome samurai theme they have incorporated into their designs. Froakie's line comes a close second because I love the ninja frog concept.

As for branched lines, my fave there has to be the Ralts line. Both the final evolution stages, Gardevoir and Gallade have their uses and pack lots of offensive power from the special and physical sides respectively, along with their respective Psychic/Fairy and Psychic/Fighting types providing really usable coverage. Eevee and the Eeveelutions come close, because they're all cute and have unique things going for them.
Gone forever for personal reasons.

Oh. I thought we were discussing bred Pokemon family trees. I was about to break out the banjo there. Heh.

Anyway my favorite branched family... Slowpoke. Both evolve via Shellder (albeit a really freaking deformed Shellder) biting them and latching on; with Slowbro it bites the tail, and with Slowking it bites the head. I think it's neat how they evolve in similar ways, with just the placement of the Shellder being different, but are so different due to where the Shellder latched onto them.

One of my favorites would likely have to be Tyrouge line (I hope I'd spelled its name correctly, haha).

It evolves into Hitmontop, Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan, all of which are, in their own way, rather unique. Hitmonlee focus more on kicks-based moves, and it also carries enough defensive stats to endure good amount of hits; Hitmonchan leans more on punches, and as opposed to former, is more radiant on offensive side of things; as for Hitmontop, it's a mixture of both.

I've always wanted to see a different evolution form to Dusclops, one that does not require trading while holding Reaper Cloth. Would be intriguing to see how it winds up!

I think you have these 2 mixed up. Hitmonlee outshines Hitmonchan's base attack to the tune of about 15 points and has ~25 less base defense.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Ralts branch. You wanna talk about versatility, and there's also the fact that they get Synchronize, so you literally can't get a Ralts with a nature that isn't ideal. I have boxes and boxes of Ralts from my Diamond days.

The Hitmonlee/chan/top line for me. They all look rather cool and have their own niches in competitive battling. Well, bar Hitmonchan in RU, but still.

Hmm, thinking about it... I don't actually use a lot of branched evo families? I love their concepts and designs but never... use them. I forget about the Poli-line a lot but I do love them, esp Politoed. I like the Oddish line but I rather dislike using grass-types. Eeveelutions are okay but I don't use them like ever because I got burnt out using a whole team of them in Sinnoh lmao. Never use the Hitmons, but I really really like their concepts. Love the Slopoke and Ralts and Snorunt lines but meh on using them as usual lmao. Never cared about Burmy or Clamperl beyond the initial "oh they're kinda neat".

So honestly my fav branched evo line is... Wurmple ahaha. Probably more because my first team had a Beautifly and because of the Jessie-May/Dustox-Beautifly competition throughout Hoenn; that just gave me a lot of exposure to them and therefore they grew on me more?

I'd def like more branched families. I think they're more interesting than just adding another tier of evolution to a family because actually that's an interesting part of real evolution to me is what animals grew from shared ancestors under what conditions to arrive at v different animals. And there's only what, ten Pokémon families that represent that process? Out of seven hundred and twenty! Let's totally have more out of that. Maybe a double-tiered branched family even like. 1st stage evolves into 2a OR 2b. Then 2a evolves into 3a OR 3b, and 2b evolves into 3c OR 3d? Like yes make things more complex why not lmao.

i am not quite sure. its a tie between the eevee line and the ralts line. i mean, i like both lines, with ralts either turning into galade or gardivior and eevee turning into one of 8 different evolutions depending on what its exposed to.

Hoo boy. I love Politoed and Poliwhirl, so I guess I'd say the Poli-tree is my fave. <3 Although in terms of functionality I use the Eeevee tree most, haha.

And, I'd love to see a family tree in the Duskull evolutionary line, it'd be interesting to see what sort of contrasting alternative to Dusknoir would look like.

Does Ninjask/Shedinja count as a branched evolution? I mean, it's a pretty unique situation, since Nincada will always evolve into a Ninjask when allowed, but that evolution can sometimes produce a Shedinja as well, depending on certain criteria (such as having an extra Poke Ball and 5 or fewer Pokemon in your party).

Of the more conventional family trees, Eevee + family are still my favorite. As it is, we've only seen 8 possible evolutions for Eevee, and it's kind of exciting to know that we may still be seeing more in the future, despite how versatile it already is.

I like the Snorunt - Glalie tandem, but I feel like Froslas was a bit of a goof. Some how female snorunts grow up to be ghosts who give birth to.... pure ice type snorunts. Doesn't make too much sense to me. But I still am a Huge Glalie fan, so there you have it.

As far as branched evolution lines go, there are quite a few I like a lot. To name one, there's the Slowpoke line, which are a series of Water/Psychic types that the evolutions on come with nice Special Attack and either Defense or Special Defense respectively. And Slowking gets Nasty Plot, which allows it to boost its Special Attack stat even higher. But aside from that, one of them lives lazily while the other is a highly knowledgeable creature that got an extraordinary bout of knowledge when the Shellder bit its head instead of its tail (think about that, haha). And Slowbro got a Mega Evolution in ORAS, and while it's a bit on the stupid side with the Shellder enveloping its body instead of being attached to its tail, it does have physical Defense on par with Aggron, combined with an ability that prevents critical hits. Bonus points for the Slowking from Pokémon the Movie 2000, which had lines of actual human speech. That is awesome.

I could mention Eevee’s evolution lines, but almost everybody likes those so I wouldn’t really have much to say about them other than how all its evolutions are different from each other. But there’s also Ralts’ line, which has two final forms, one that has entries that speak of how well it bonds with its trainer and can protect them well, and the other is said to protect its trainer by fighting fierce. They have quite a few options to use for moves, to go with that. And as of ORAS, they both have Mega Evolutions, which I have seen used to good effect competitively. The Champion in XY uses one of them, and the other is used near the end of ORAS, the former of which has given me a hassle on more than one occasion. While they messed up a bit with giving Mega Gardevoir useless Attack points instead of Defense, they fixed that with Mega Gallade, not to mention it’s a bit faster than its feminine counterpart.

Those are just two that I felt like naming right now, just to give you an idea of which ones I most enjoy.
