Welcome to The PokéCommunity's Monotype Project! What we hope to do here is create an awareness about this format since it's gaining popularity. We'll discuss three types during a span of two weeks in detail. The first post will provide all the necessary information like the viability list, type weaknesses and Pokemon that would suit very well on a team. You guys can discuss the type in general, strategies, what Pokemon or cores do really well and possibly post a team with a short description as to what it does. Not only will this help people who are getting into the format for the first time, but the discussions will also give ideas to those who have already been playing this format.
The schedule for the project is as follows and will start from January 12th.
It is encouraged that everyone joins for each type so that after the project you will have a perspective and mindset of a monotype EXPERT!
Hope to see you all during the project, also do not worry if you think you do not know anything about the format since we are all here to learn and help each other.
P.S, each person can take up and build any or all types chosen during the on-going rounds to build a team around.
Round One
Type to be discussed -> Normal, FIghting and Ghost.
Steel: Aegislash, Genesect
Water: Damp Rock
Dragon: Kyurem-W
Flying: Shaymin-S
Viability Rank Meanings
Spoiler:
S Rank
Spoiler:
Reserved for Pokemon that can easily play a role against a majority of type matchups with ease, meaning it will never be useless in any matchup. These Pokemon need little to no support (which can be easily given) for them to do their job (Both Defensive and Offensive). They are easy to bring in and out, and often with little to no risk (Mostly Defensive). They can fulfill a ton of roles depending on what you need. These Pokemon define the metagame.
A Rank
Spoiler:
Reserved for Pokemon that have S rank qualities, but need support (which can be easily given) in order for them to be successful. These Pokemon can play a role against most type matchups, but they may be hard walled by 1-2 types. However, these Pokemon are mostly used for one or two of their sets meaning that they can be predictable. These Pokemon influence the Metagame.
B Rank
Spoiler:
Reserved for Pokemon that are good but they need support (which may be hard to give) for them to function. These Pokemon are used to check your counters once or twice, meaning that it cannot switch in and out repeatedly. Pokemon in this rank can have a positive type match up sometimes, but they may be useless in others. These Pokemon are adaptable to the metagame.
C Rank
Spoiler:
Reserved for Pokemon that are only used to check a threat once or twice. These Pokemon often run unorthodox sets since their primary niches are outclassed by other Pokemon. Since they run unorthodox sets some Pokemon can set up on them without fear. These Pokemon need a lot of support (which may be hard to give) for them to function. These Pokemon have a hard time adapting to the metagame.
D Rank
Spoiler:
Reserved for Pokemon that are outclassed in almost every single way. These Pokemon are only used for one of their moves, or for their typing / ability. Even so, they are generally second rate Pokemon meaning that they can be only brought in once or twice to perform their role. These Pokemon rarely adapt to the metagame.
So starting up, breloom is a grass/fighting pokemon which has main weakness with flying, fire and psychic, so I use focus sash on it to prevent a one hit death first of all and then there is spore which can put opponent to sleep and then is rock tomb which kills flying, fire types and mach punch gets powerful which ability of technician and bullet seed manages water type pokemon. So let's discuss if we can make breloom more better which other item or set and what is the thing I am doing wrong here if any.

My lead is either Ditto or Ambipom depending on what the opponent's team is, but Ambipom is generally the reliable pick with fake out surprising damage outputs with double hit and knock off. It also outspeeds a LOT of SR or Spikes leads, which is really useful for taking them out quickly.
Lopunny is a good sweeper with HJK and Ice punch for coverage, and Healing wish is good for when you're at low % and a good teammate is low. the only reason i use it is because she outspeeds most anything so you can get it off when in a tight bind.
Diggersby tho. Scarf for his lacking speed. The rest is a staple set on him, but i replaced quick attack with u-turn since he isn't banded.
Slaking is a good revenge killer with retaliate, and when it comes down to it he can deal large amounts of damage with nice coverage.
Meleotta was the only special attacker that I thought would blend well with this team, plus she's pretty easy for finding a porn nickname. Her set is pretty generic.
Ditto is a moveset scouter, just be careful on switch-ins against stall because he is scarfed.
Any suggestions/comments would be nice, but mainly this team is just for fun and I thought I would share it. Feel free to use it just don't use it against me ^^
