I really wish Gamefreak would stop trolling us with great features and ideas in one generation of games, and then immediately abandoning them. ;-;

The one I'm most sore about is being able to walk with your Pokemon in HG/SS. When I was a kid, it made me sad that people in the anime get to walk around with and bond with their Pokemon, but the games wouldn't let you do the same. I was so thrilled when they put that in HG/SS; I thought that was an absolutely wonderful idea that really, REALLY added a lot to the roleplaying aspect of the game. It felt like my 'mons were sort of like virtual pets, that I could have my character connect with.

I was absolutely devastated when they scrapped it afterwards... five years and two generations of games later, and they still refuse to bring it back... hence why I refuse to play any of the newer games, because with that aspect of the game missing it would be too depressing...

I agree that is one of my all time favorite features also. When I started playing Pokemon as a kid I just assumed that you were going to be able to see your Pokemon outside of their pokeballs and then when it didn't happen I was so sad lol. When they brought the feature back in HG/SS but with the ability for any Pokemon to follow you I was so excited. I think more than amie that made me feel "the bond" with my team. Also it was exciting to see your Pokemon react with different areas.

I know for some people they found it annoying so if they could bring it back, but give you the option of turning it on or off that would be ideal.

I loved that feature in HGSS. I really wish they brought it back, at least for ORAS since its also a remake like HGSS was. It would be an awesome feature for remakes. Hopefully in the future they decide to bring that feature back again! I miss it.

I loved this feature in HGSS, maybe I wouldn't appreciate it so much if it was in every game to be fair. I do think it should be something that is brought back every so often though.

It might be a bit difficult to if translated to 3ds graphics.

For instance, if there is a narrow path, with one walking unit wide, any large pokemon will look, odd. If that issue was dealt with, I agree that it's a fun feature!

I would have the pokemon to be put back in to it's ball.

I loved walking-Pokémon feature, and was very disappointed to see it gone.

Although Pokémon are meant to remain within our Poké Balls inside our backpack (after all, they are referred to as Pocket Monsters in Japan), but even so, they are also encouraged to be treated as friends and whatnot; we hang around with them, accompany them, etc. By putting these kind of thoughts into consideration, I do believe it makes sense to have such a system around.

If they do re-implement following-Pokémon, perhaps one thing they could improve is maybe give us option to choose which teammate we want walking beside ourselves, rather than only first member of our party?

I agree the walking-with-Pokémon feature was very fun. And while I would love to see it implemented into newer games, I'm not missing it that much. There are other features that allow you to interact with your Pokémon, such as the Pokémon-Amie. Implementing the 3D, the completely updated battle scenes, the implementation of 2D movement and all the updates to the games as a whole has its toll on the amount of features that can be present in the game. I see no reason why they couldn't have put walking with Pokémon into Black and White, but they must have their reasons.

But I agree that if it was brought back, this feature would be best with the option to turn it off, through use of a Key Item or whatnot.

Give that we have Pokémon-Amie in today's games, i'm not too soured over the fact that this feature is gone. But it was fun while it lasted, there were points where your Pokémon would say really funny things if you talked to them in certain areas. And others that just come off as...really weird. xP But it'd be difficult for them to add it into the later games because of so much coding they'd have to do.

I am also confused why GF removed it. I doubt it took much of a system's space requirement. Plus, imagine the capabilities of walking with Pokmon in 3D. That's enough to bring them the money if that really is their ultimate goal.

In 3D I'm not sure how well this would work. Would we really be happy if our Eevee took up as much space as a Kyogre. It would look silly if they all became roughly human sized like in HG/SS, but using more to scale sizes wouldn't work either...

Either way, I've never looked at it as anything more than a neat cosmetic thing... I'm fine without it.
