RMT First time building a team ever

For about a week now i've been trying to figure out what i want to do for my first team in terms of battling ever. I've got a core right now that i like in terms of what they do but they seem to feel a bit disjointed if that makes sense. Well i say that but since its the first team i've ever messed around with i have no real clue.

Skarmory @ Left Overs
Rocks, Spikes, Roar, Roost

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Selfdestruct, Flamethrower, Dragonpulse, Earth Power

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet (5 IV, HA,)
Outrage, Earthquake, Swords Dance, still deciding what i want for the last attack

Scizor @ Megastone
Uturn, Brick Break, Bullet Punch, Knock Off

Gengar @ Life Orb
Sub, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb

Rotom-W @ Choice Specs
Volt Switch, Willow Wisp, Hydro-Pump, Hidden Power Ice



I feel like this just mostly sweepers and no real synergy so i feel iffy about it. I was thinking about maybe cutting 2 mons for a Eviolite Chancey and a Slowbro. It feels like swapping to this would give me a bit better synergy in the sense that i can wall a special sweeper with Chancey and take the time to heal up the rest of my team. At the same time i'd have a regenerator Slowbro to take the physical hits if needed and could switch back out to chancey if a special sweeper is brought in to deal with slowbro while letting him gain hp back through the switch. I like the idea of this a lot more but i'm just not sure what to cut for it and still maintain good type coverage. I also don't mind swapping the mega stone to slowbro if needed. Thoughts and ideas?

Skarmory is way too passive. Sticking to only 1 hazard is best:
-Spikes/Stealth Rock
-Whirlwind
-Roost
-Brave Bird/Taunt
Nature: Impish/Bold
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Item: Leftovers/Shed Shell/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy

Heatran can learn Explosion, not Self-Destruct. It's not worth it because it no longer halves Defense as of Gen V, making it ineffective against Chansey and friends:
-Overheat/Fire Blast
-Flash Cannon
-Earth Power/Hidden Power (Ice)
-Stone Edge/Ancient Power
Nature: Timid
EVs: 28 HP/4 Def/252 SAtk/228 Spe
Item: Choice Scarf

Mega Scizor generally prefers utility moves:
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-Superpower
-Bug Bite/Roost

Wash Rotom is generally more defensive, but if it has to be offensive, a Scarf set is ideal:

Nature: Modest/Timid
EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Choice Scarf

Edit: use Fire Fang or Stone Edge as Garchomp's 4th attack. Lum Berry is also its preferred item to cure post-Outrage confusion or other statuses

Yeah the big reason for Skarmory was to set up double hazards but if i'm going to go down to 1 hazard, what do you think about swapping Skarmory out for Chansey? I feel like i've got enough physical bulk in Scizor especially with it going mega. Garchomp and Heatran should do decently for physical bulk as well. With that being said i'm kind of thinking Chansey might be good for it's special bulk and ability to heal the rest of the team. She has the ability to toss out rocks but i'm not sure how she does as a lead.

Chansey functions best on stall teams. This team has some form of offense, so that's a no from me.

Just because a Pokemon has access to 2 entry hazards doesn't mean it should use both in the same set; using both will waste move slots that could be used for better moves.

Garchomp and Heatran, however, make good Stealth Rock users themselves:

Nature: Naive/Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spe

Something like this would be good for Thundurus:

Thundurus w/Life Orb or Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Sp.Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Defense
Moves: Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Focus Blast/Psychic, Grass Knot

Usually Hidden Power Ice is the best option in that last slot, but a 6IV poke will never have Ice as its Hidden Power type, so Grass Knot is your next best option.

Hmm, not sure how i feel about Focus Blast since i've already got it on Gengar. Is it a bad thing to double up on moves? Also, what about Volt Switch? I like the idea of being able to use it to scout.
Sometimes doubling up on moves is necessary, as some Pokemon rely on a particular move for coverage.
