Hello everyone, this is my first post on these forums and I'm new to the competitive scene of Pokemon battling, so try to take it easy on me and my enormous lack of knowledge in this particular field.

I've recently decided to make a competitive team in Pokemon X because I really love the game and it still has a relatively large player base (I think) which will allow me to battle lots of different people online. Basically I need help on deciding what Pokemon should be in my team. Throughout every Pokemon game I've played, I've usually been the type of player who likes to use Pokemon that have high speed stats and can hit hard, simply, my strategy is defeat the opponent in as little moves as possible (not sure if this is even a good strategy?). In saying this, I'm not dead set on this strategy, it's just what I usually do against the NPCs.

I have a basic understanding of IVs and EVs and which items pair up well with different Pokemon. So I'm (sort of) across the point of breeding for the perfect Pokemon, but I'm still far from being an expert on such matters.

Now to the point of this thread; the 6 Pokemon that will be in my team. I really have no idea which Pokemon to put in those 6 slots, so any suggestions would be great. But I was thinking along the lines of: Talonflame, Garchomp, Aegislash (if that's how you spell it), Lucario, and maybe Lapras and/or Delphox??? Once again, I'm new to this so I really don't know if that is a good line up or not.

If you do decide to help me out, could you please tell me which Pokemon I should choose and what moves to give them and why, and if you're feeling really helpful maybe what stats to stack??

Thank you for your time, and thank you in advance for your much needed knowledge :)

P.S. Sorry about any grammatical errors, I tried to keep them to a minimum.

Gonna move this down into our Battling and Team-Building section.

Moves.

Basically the strategy is what's simply known as Offense/Hyper Offense. I think that you'll wanna look at some of the links in this post here to start you off.

I'm assuming that you're gonna be doing mainly 3v3 Battle Spot Singles, yeah?

If we're going with the hyper offense theme here, good place to start with Talonflame would be a Choice Band set:

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Tailwind/Roost

Hits really hard immediately. If you're cool with taking a turn to set up, a Swords Dance set is an alternative. Normally you'd wanna run a Rapid Spinner or Defogger on your team since Talonflame is really weak to Stealth Rock, but entry hazards are kinda rare in Battle spot singles so that not absolutely neccessary.

Talon+Chomp+Aegis makes for a decent core since they resist most of each other's weaknesses and provide good offensive coverage, but you're gonna need something to deal with Ground types, particularly Mamoswine. Greninja, Gyarados, Wash Rotom, and Azumarill are good choices, but Water has plenty of good Pokemon to pick from, so it's sorta up to you I guess.

If you're using Lucario, the mega is the way to go. Can run either a physical or a special set. Mixed forms of Aegislash are generally better than purely physical or special ones.

Hope that helps and gets you started. If you got more questions and whatnot, feel free to ask.
