I can't seem to find any appropriate sections for the thread, so sorry if I posted this in the wrong place.
If I trade/transfer a Pokemon from the previous generation to this new generation, then will the Pokemon adapt to its coding in the new gen (by that I mean will the Pokemon's stats, movepool and a whole lot other things adjust to those coded in Gen 6)? I'm afraid Pokemon from long-ago Gens may have disadvantages if they don't. :( I want to train awesome Pokemon to level 100 but I'm always afraid that they may have no use in the future so I will have to train them again.
Eg: Are there any disadvantages of a Gyarados from Gen IV compared with a Gyarados from gen VI?
Thanks in advance. :D
I'm not the expert on Pokemon game stuff, but as far as I'm aware, any Pokemon that you catch in earlier generations will be just as strong as it originally was when you transfer it to a new game (any IVs & EVs will remain the same), and they don't gain any sort of boosts or advantages. Transferring them over at a lower level will give them access to the new game's movepools and TMs/HMs though, which might be the only disadvantage I can think of it you train a Pokemon to level 100 before moving them to a 6th gen game.
I hope I was able to at least somewhat answer your question. But, unfortunately Pokemon General doesn't deal with game related questions, so I'm going to close this thread. If you need further clarification, or just have any other Pokemon game related questions such as this, feel free to ask over in Pokemon Gaming Central's
Quick Question & Answer thread. Thanks!
