Last night, my university's Pokemon Club had its weekly meeting. I tried my hand at battling, but the thing is, I got curb stomped. The guy I fought told me that I need to focus on EVs for my guys and tailor these to their natures. Thing is, I'm new to team building like this, so I'm a bit lost with all this info bombarding me right now. Here's my current team:
Blaziken (Careful)
Snivy (Timid)
Pelipper (Brave)
Zebstrika (Calm)
Shroomish (Calm)
Skarmory (Jolly)

Thing is, I specialize more towards fire type pokemon. Blaziken is my only fire type, but if I were to swap someone, who would I swap for my Quilava?

Natures will determine how hard/how fast or how defensive a pokémon can be at max EV's. For example if you have Blaziken with an Adamant nature, 31 IV's and 252 ATK EV's it will have attack power of 372. If it has the wrong nature like Modest it will have an attack power of 305. Without EV's or IV's the pokémon will hit not as hard. Only for 269 with Adamant nature and for 220 with a Modest nature. See the difference? That's why it's important to IV breed and EV train your pokémon and give it a nature that fits your pokémon.
Your Pokémon can have a maximum of 510 EV's and a maximum of 255 in each stat. A stat increases with every 4 EV's. Thats why I and most people use 252 as max EV's in a stat.
Adamant raises Attack and decreases Special Attack
Modest raises Special Attack and decreases Attack

Well here are some common builds for your pokémon:
Blaziken should hit as hard as possible
Blaziken @ Blazikenite
Speed Boost
Adamant / Jolly
4 HP / 252 ATK / 252 SPE
- Low Kick / High Jump Kick
- Flare Blitz
- Protect (use protect the first turn to get a free speed boost off)
- Knock Off

Serperior should be as fast as possible and hit as hard as possible
Serperior @ Life Orb
Contrary
Timid / Modest
4 HP / 252 SPA / 252 SPE
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Glare
- Giga Drain (use Leaf Storm as your primary stab, and Giga Drain when you need healing)

Pelipper is a bad pokémon but if you like it build it defensive. Replace this one with Typhlosion
Pelipper @ Leftovers
Keen Eye
Bold
248 HP / 252 DEF / 8 SPD
- Scald
- Roost
- Defog
- U-Turn / Air-Slash

or

Typhlosion @ Choice Specs / Life Orb
Blaze
Timid
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Focus Blast / Extrasensory
- Eruption (only use this if you know you outspeed)
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power Water

Zebstrika is not common but here is a build you can use
Zebstrika @ Choice Scarf
Lightningrod
Timid / Modest
252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Hidden Power Grass

Breloom is a good lead and should be as fast as possible to put something to sleep and get out
Breloom @ Focus Sash
Technician
Jolly
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Protect

Skarmory is your physcial defensive pokémon to switch out to if you predict a EQ on your fire types.
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet/Leftovers/Shed Shell
Sturdy
Impish
252 HP / 252 DEF / 4 SPD
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
- Defog / Stealth Rock

Keep in mind that your team doesn't really cover each other weaknesses and if this team used in Ubers you are going to have a hard time.
Your pokémon are weak 2x to psychic, 2x to flying, 2x to ice, 2x to electric, 3x to fire and 3x to ground. Try to cover that up!

If you don't know how to get this natures on your pokémon let me know and I will breed them with the right Natures and abilities and in some cases the egg-moves.

As for the weaknesses, what should I use? I'd hate to get rid of Zebstrika, but if I have to, who would I swap him out for?
