Hey all, new guy here! I recently picked up Omega Ruby and want to get into some battle spot battling. To start building this team, I decided to focus on building around one of my favorite pokemon of all time:

Arcanine @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Morning Sun
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed

I feel this pokemon is a great place to start. His typing combined with intimidate and Will-O-Wisp support allows to take on some of the most used pokemon currently:

-Resist fire and fairy type
-Counters: Mega-Mawile, Mega-Lucario, Mega-Kangaskhan, Talonflame, Aegislash, Ferrothorn, Mega-Charizard X, Venusaur, Amoonguss, Bisharp.

-Checks: Tyranitar, -1 252 Atk Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Arcanine: 98-116 (49.7 - 58.8%) -- 96.5% chance to 2HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery.
So he can switch into an Earthquake, take one non-crit stone edge and get the Will-O-Wisp off. After that he needs to exit the battle, tho.

-Checks: Mega-charizard Y, 252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arcanine in Sun: 99-117 (50.2 - 59.3%) -- 77.7% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
He can switch into a fire blast and stall with morning sun in the sun. But without burn damage this is not the best option.

Checks: Rotom-Heat, 252 SpA Rotom-H Volt Switch vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arcanine: 63-75 (31.9 - 38%) -- 0.6% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
He can force a choice scarf Rotom-Heat into an unfavorable position, and force a switch. To be noted the choice spec version will deal a bit more damage on the volt switch.

Other things it counters: Gliscor, Excadrill, Dragonite.

With this in mind, I went ahead and decided to try and form a Fire/Water/Grass core around this mighty beast. He likes someone to remove hazard entry for him and take status well. Here is the next partner:

Blastoise @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Water Pulse
- Dragon Pulse (possibly Ice beam?)
- Aura Sphere

This partner allows to counter some of the more popular pokemon that Arcanine could only check.

-Counters: Tyranitar and mega Tyranitar: 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Aura Sphere vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Tyranitar in Sand: 180-212 (102.2 - 120.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

-Counters: Garchomp and it' mega version: 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Dragon Pulse vs. 4 HP / 0- SpD Mega Garchomp: 192-226 (104.3 - 122.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

-Counters: Salamence and it's mega version: 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Dragon Pulse vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 180-212 (105.2 - 123.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

-Counters: 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Aura Sphere vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Greninja: 204-240 (137.8 - 162.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

-Counters: 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Water Pulse vs. 244 HP / 192+ SpD Gliscor: 162-192 (89.5 - 106%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

-Counters: Heatran, Latios and Latias.

To be noted, with sunlight, Mega Charizard Y is doing good against this set. A counter will need to be found.

Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP /20 Def / 212 SpA / 4SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power Fire

The Ev spread is specifically to counter assault vest Azumarill, outspeeding it's adamant nature:

-Counters: 212 SpA Venusaur Sludge Bomb vs. 240 HP / 16 SpD Assault Vest Azumarill: 102-120 (49.7 - 58.5%) -- 96.5% chance to 2HKO
To be noted the choice band version is outsped with max investment by our 20 speed investment and 1HKO with hazard entry.

-Counters: Rain, especially Politoed.

Now this team has a good gimmick going for it that gave me an idea: Only pokemons from the first two generations.

With this, I went and found myself A stealth rock user that would also counter mega charizard Y, a problem listed earlier:

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Payback

He allows me to counter and check a few things out of my threat list: Takes care of Gengar and Mega-Gengar, counters Gardevoir (But not Mega.), Mega-Charizard Y, Mega-Manectric

252 SpA Gardevoir Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 78-92 (37.6 - 44.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

This is my team so far, and this is where I need you guys help, I need suggestions to fill the rest of the team and cross some of the things left on my list:

- dragon resistance or immunity? (steel or fairy type)
- way to deal with sleep? (Lum or Chesto Berry, Safeguard, Fake Out (for Smeargle), Grass type (for Spore), Flame Orb/Toxic Orb + Guts/Quick Feet, Pokémon capable of OHKOing Amoonguss/Smeargle, Taunt, Sleep Talk, …)
Smeargle: Blastoise can 1HKO it, but is outsped and put to sleep.

- way to deal with Perish Trap? (Taunt, Volt Switch/U-turn, ghost types, designed lead to beat Mega Gengar + Scrafty/Amoonguss, …)
- way to deal with Thunderwave + Swagger (+ Rock Slide) Spam (Safeguard, Taunt, pokemon that can OHKO Meowstic/Klefki, electric types, Quick Guard, Lum Berry, bulky pokemon in general, …)

Let me know what you think, and thank you for the help!

In Battle Spot, you can get away with having 2 Megas on the team; this lets you pick the best Mega to use depending on the opponent, given that Battle Spot only limits you to picking half of your team to battle with. Venusaur is one of those Pokemon that's only good as its Mega Evolution, so you can make it one of the alternative Megas:
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
-Sleep Powder/Leech Seed/Hidden Power (Fire)/Knock Off/Earthquake
-Synthesis
Nature: Bold/Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP/240 Def/16 Spe
Item: Venusaurite

or
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
-Hidden Power (Fire)/Earthquake/Knock Off
-Synthesis
Nature: Modest/Quiet
EVs: 232 HP/252 SAtk/4 SDef/16 Spe
Item: Venusaurite

Or if you don't want to go that route, Amoonguss can act as an alternative:
-Spore
-Giga Drain
-Foul Play/Hidden Power (Fire)/Sludge Bomb
-Clear Smog/Sludge Bomb
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP/136 Def/120 SDef
Item: Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator

Crunch is the more reliable Dark STAB to use on Tyranitar, as there are still opponents that Tyranitar outspeeds even with a -Speed nature:
-Stealth Rock
-Stone Edge
-Crunch/Ice Beam/Fire Blast
-Pursuit
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 248 HP/36 Def/224 SDef
Item: Leftovers/Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream

Remember that Mega Gardevoir is a thing and it would rather use Hyper Voice over Moonblast in that case:

232 SpA Pixilate Mega Gardevoir Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 116-138 (56 - 66.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

232+ SpA Pixilate Mega Gardevoir Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 126-150 (60.8 - 72.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

In Battle Spot, you can get away with using things like Aegislash or Mega Mawile. Speaking of other Dragon immunities/resistances, Klefki, Mega Metagross or Mega Diancie can also work. Only use Mawile, Metagross or Diancie if you didn't opt for Mega Venusaur, as having more than 2 Megas on the Battle Spot team is too much:

Aegislash:
-Shadow Ball
-Shadow Sneak/Iron Head
-Sacred Sword/Iron Head/Pursuit
-King's Shield
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 244 HP/12 Def/252 SAtk
Item: Leftovers

or
-Substitute
-Toxic
-King's Shield
-Shadow Ball
Nature: Modest
EVs: 244 HP/12 Def/252 SAtk
Item: Leftovers

or
-Shadow Ball
-Shadow Sneak
-Flash Cannon
-Sacred Sword/Pursuit
Nature: Hasty/Naive
EVs: 4 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb

or
-Swords Dance
-Shadow Sneak
-Iron Head/Shadow Claw
-Sacred Sword/Head Smash
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb

Klefki:
-Spikes
-Thunder Wave
-Magnet Rise/Toxic
-Play Rough/Foul Play
Nature: Careful/Calm
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
Item: Leftovers/Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster

Metagross:
-Meteor Mash
-Zen Headbutt
-Hammer Arm/Earthquake
-Ice Punch/Bullet Punch/Grass Knot
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe

Ability: Clear Body

or
-Agility
-Meteor Mash
-Zen Headbutt
-Earthquake/Hammer Arm
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spe
Item: Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body

Diancie:
-Diamond Storm
-Moonblast
-Earth Power/Hidden Power (Fire)
-Protect/Hidden Power (Fire)
Nature: Naive/Hasty
EVs: 16 Atk/240 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Diancite

or
-Rock Polish
-Diamond Storm
-Moonblast
-Earth Power
Nature: Rash
EVs: 64 HP/16 Atk/252 SAtk/176 Spe
Item: Diancite

or
