How about this, then?
Calculating a number based off of some expression is one thing, but deriving a solution from a function with a multiple-value inverse domain is another.

But it grants the same result, merely with the inverse calculated behind the scenes.

Posting a digital root really isn't all that different than simple addition.

But the amount of information that it provides to solve the next number in the series is negligible, as it would be far easier to just look one post back (Sn) and determine that Sn+2 = Sn + 2.

Yeah, but that could simply be resolved by just adding in the process.

9 + 3 = 12
1 + 2 = 3

How about this, then?
Problem is, by that point it just becomes superfluous and it's really just better to post the number or the digital root alone. That said, it's really not much different than posting anything else related to the number in question.

But then your solution would just be extraneous information.

If the equation you used to determine the current post representation could be expressed as f(pn-1) = xn, most people would just look at pn-1 and add 2.

Edit: Yeah, your edit basically said the same thing this post said.

Yeah, pretty much. But again, it's really not much different than posting anything else related to the number in question.
