Okay, I'm thinking of maybe bringing these into use.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about Blast Burn, Hydro Cannon, Frenzy Plant, and Hyper Beam.

Blast Burn is only available for Charizard, Hydro Cannon is only available for Blastoise,Frenzy Plant is only available for Venusaur, and Hyper Beam is available to alot of different pokemon.

Anyway, I was thinking, perhaps we could somehow bring these moves into play, as they are extremely powerful, and could win you a match, you never know.

You can't just go into battling blasting away with these moves, you will get yourself killed, so I'm wanting to here peoples suggestions on these moves, and when or when not they should be incorporated into a team.

So far, I've came up with this Venusaur..

Venusaur: Frenzy Plant/Leech Seed/Sludge Bomb/Sleep Powder.

The idea, is to Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, and then fire away with Sludge Bomb, when you think it's the right time, hit them with Frenzy Plant, you never know, the extra power just might pull you out of a sticky situation.

In competitions, these moves are ignored for the turn they have drawback on, which is noral, since you don't really want to let the opponent have a chance to setup.

I just think these moves have some potential in them, and it's a shame to see them go to waste, you'd be amazed at just how much of a punch they pack in battle than their non-drawback counterparts.

These moves CAN be put to good use people, let's see what we can do eh?

hehe, I use hydro cannon blastoise on my UU team

[email protected] Salac
~Quake
~Yawn
~Hydro Cannon
~Mirror Coat

Knock back a massive electric attack and let salac activate so you can hydro cannon them for a guaranteed K.O.. But generally I like to use yawn and then hydro cannon what ever is coming in. In UU that generally results in an OHKO if it isn't resistant. If they stay in I can Hydro Cannon and recharge all while they sleep

Cool as, I was expecting "No, never use those", but I see potential in them.

Nice set Husk man, I could only think of a little Venusaur since my mind was focused on the actual moves ;)

For Charizard, I think he could pull it off with a Sub set.

Charizard: Substitute/Blast Burn/Focus Punch or something/Earthquake

Not the greatest set, but I think that if you can pop one off from behind a Sub it'll be very nice indeed.

Not people, that the power of these moves is like this:

225 STAB'd.
337.5 STAB'd + Ability Activation (Blaze/Torrent/Overgrow).

And with a Petaya, it'll be very, very nice.

Even things that resist are going to feel the power from these moves, it's just hard to find the right time to use them, you need the set to be kind of worked around it.

Like how Venusaur has Leech Seed and Sleep Powder to aid it, Husk has Yawn to aid his Blastoise, and I've got Sub to aid Charizard.

Any more suggestions that include these moves?

For Hyper Beam, I think a Subboltbeam Dragonite could do it with Hyper Beam as last slot.

Eh?

Lion, that Venusaur set is so close to Leafgreen Venusaur set.The only move I don't
have on your set is Sleep Powder.

On Charizard,Brick Break over Focus Punch because Sub can be broken too easily.

Leftovers go on Venusaur,so it can survive and keep using Frenzy Plant.

Lion Heart, you remind me of Horn Drill from SPPf. XD

The one Beam that I find can be useful is Frenzy Plant, which is because there's no base 95, accurate Grass type attack. It also works well on Venusaur since he tanks well.

But, the same doesn't apply to the other beams:
- A single Blast Burn is outdone by two consecutive Flamethrowers. They also last 5 turns longer.
- Same goes for Hydro Cannon/Surf, and Hyper Beam/Return (except on Slaking).

So, the only time you can get away with these would be on a Slaking, [email protected] + Leech Seed, or if you're pretty sure you'll KO their last Pokémon (not worth the slot).

A Venusaur set:
@Leftovers
Sassy, 252SpDef, 128Def, 128Atk
- Overgrow
Sludge Bomb
Frenzy Plant
Leech Seed
Toxic/Sleep Powder/Rest/...

Yes, but every poke that can have the trait Damp also has a better trait (water absorb or cloud nine), so you won't see too many dampers.

I personally like Husk's set. I have never considered using an elemental beam (even Hyper Beam on Slaking because it doesn't allow switching which is necessary with a choice band), but I think it makes sense to use it in a uu battle. Just out of curiousity though, Blastoise is uu? It seems too good a tank not to be used much (that is proper grammar even though the split infinitive counterpart sounds better). Anyway, interesting thread. It has made me rethink my ways . . .

MM, who is Horn Drill? I don't go to Sppf

Also, I know there are moves to cover the 2 turns used by the elementals, but I think we can still make these moves usable, as a larger amount of damage when the team needs it, such as if you get in a war with something that just recovers over and over, a 95 power move won't stop them, maybe a 150 powerr move will, ;)

Yes Blastoise is UU, but that just means people won't have a counter for it if you use it.

Blastoise is a good pokemon, and I think Husks set could work out well for Blastoise.

I see alot of Charizard aswell, mostly the same old same old, Dragon Dance Zard or BellyZard, no one explores possibilites with Subpunching on him, or creating a set like mine which will deal alot of damage to whatever you hit.

I see some SpecialZards around, not much though.

Venusaur is pretty common as a staller pokemon, but we could use the power of Frenzy Plant to morph Venusaur into an attacker, it has backup with Leech Seed and Sleep Powder aswell ;).

On my Venusaur set, you could replace Sludge Bomb with Substitute as added coverage, Leech Seed + Sleep Powder + Sub should provide decent coverage for Frenzy Plant.

It's fairly specialized though..

I'm going to test these sets out now and see what the results are..

And yes, I'll be using Husks Blastoise. :D

EDIT: Yawn and Mirror Coat is an illegal combination, so I'm swapping Sal for Leftovers, and Mirror Coat for Substitute (I might try Roar later though).

Okay I tested them out.

Venusaur works and somehow took out a Tauntridos, Snorlax, and a Celebi before dying, very cool.

Blastoise worked for a while until the opponent knew what I was doing, I got to Yawn his Hariyama, because Blastoise outsped it before it Subbed, but Blastoise wasn't strong enough to deal enough damage to him to kill it, and it eventually switched to Gyarados when I was about to Hydro Pump for the kill.

Charizard didn't even get to see the light of day because the Tauntridos had HP Rock not HP Flying.
I was expecting to survive and HP Flying for the kill, but nope, HP Rock comes out of no where.

All in all, I'm liking Venusaur thebest.

I should have saved the logs.

frenzy plant is the most realible one here
the others are out done by other moves in that typing.
i am thinking of it not only as part of the leech seed/sleep powder combo but as part physical sweeper set with frenzy plant as the grass form of overheat
something like - sludge bomb,sword dance,earthquake,frenzy plant
tho i think that leech seed/sleep powder/syntheis would end up working slightly better here.

Ice, you got an alright idea there, since Venusaur won't really be OHKO'd by anything, and Swords Dancing with a Salac Berry would work really well for Venusaur, it's not as slow as you'd think it is either.

;) Very cool.

Nice how someone tested it out aswell.

As you said, the opponent will think you are a new player if you use the Beams, which you can work to your advantage, I like how people think you are a new player when you just 2HKO'd their Suicune who had a Calm Mind lol.

Incorrect.

When you see someone use them "improperly" you know you have a win.

We here, are coming up with ways to use them properly, you will not have an auto win if you come up against one of the sets here ;)
