But Seagate has some of the highest failure rates for HDDs. If you're after the lowest failure rates get WD(second lowest) or HGST(lowest).
Now if only SSDs were that easy to speak of...

The Marshmallow update arrived on my Moto G last night and I'm installing it right now. I think I'll probably take advantage of the feature that allows me to use my external SD card as internal storage. :)

So I'm going to add another 8GB RAM to my laptop, and max it out. I'm also going to see if I can install an SSD in it if there's room. If not, I might wait for larger SSDs (2TB+ in size) to come down in price, then install one of those to replace the HDD and clone it over.
Are you maxing the RAM just to max it, or do you actually need it? :P

I could max my laptop's RAM to 8GB as well, but I dunno if I'd need all that space haha.

Oh, and in other news. I upgraded my server to Server 2008 from 2003 today. I know I'm behind in times on this, but it's also an older tower I did this on as well, from 2007/2008.

Considering how heavily I multitask (Having VS open, perhaps an emulator and IDA, or something else), and how Chrome is a memory hog, having more memory would be nice. In addition, having it for building large sources on Linux would be nice as it'd be handy space to build in.

I am also going to double-check my BIOS to see if perhaps I can allocate some RAM to graphics memory, it'd be nice for gaming.
VMs are probably the only reason for me to even need RAM upgrades :P haha

Ah, I should probably do the same. I thought I'd get back into the gaming world on the PC, but nooope I've slowed down again >_>

Also yeah, VMs are great. I need to get those set back up, although I've already used half my hard drive for just games. Might already have to upgrade to a larger hard drive.
Which VMs would you like to run out of curiosity?

I have an Ubuntu VM I need to get running and it ran pretty fine, at least compared to a Windows VM on my laptop.

So apparently putting the SIM card back into my Lumia 520 and removing it causes the phone to reset its time back to like May 21st 2014... o_O

Probably as a result of you taking the battery out. At least it doesn't reset to January 1 1990 like on Android o.o

Y'know what, that totally escaped my mind. And I guess the reason why it never happened before when I did it by giving it an SD card was because it actually had the SIM card to auto-sync it. :P

Though since Windows Phone 8.1, the clock is supposed to sync over the internet (wifi or data) alongside with the cellular network.

so far i need a better video card a better hdd and a 2gb ram.

since my cpu has 4 hdd slot i can put two more ssd and two hdd.

750ti asus strix version would be my preferred choice for budget and performance.

ram is totaly need a small buff if i need to play current games. kingston is horrid expensive but i use that brand for 9 years so i just dun care.

cpu is fine at clock rate 3.15 Ghz overclocked.
Core i5 750 and it still able to run any games without bottleneck... yet.

Perhaps waiting for a bit more might be a good idea? Who knows, maybe new cards...

So the RAM chip that I ordered came in today, I'll probably be installing it tomorrow or Thursday. Can't wait to see it in action! :D

Edit: Just found out that apparently MSI is wrong. The chipset on this laptop actually supports up to 32GB of RAM. Might have to look into that upgrade down the road if I ever do need it. 16GB is plenty for now, although having two VMs open at the same time as Windows running might be useful.
Holy psyduck I'd upgrade that muk farther if it was my laptop lmao

yeah new cards for more than RM 1500.... out of budget.
Aww...

You probably won't really need that much video card, though. Likely a 950 will run everything well.

Well, a 16GB stick would run a pretty penny, so two of them is a lot of shiny pennies.

Also, today I picked up a Motorola smart watch. It's really damn nice and it works with pretty much any Android device too :D
I still don't feel the need to upgrade anything's RAM yet. :P

I wish there were more compatible smart wearable things that work on Windows Phone. Kind of barren when you can pretty much select from three, and two of them are more fitness bands than anything else.

That, and I'm not sold on their battery life.

I decided to update Windows 10, after holding that of for a couple months actually. Took me about 6 hours to complete, but at least it seems like all the additional software, like CCleaner, is still present. Not sure if they corrected that or if I did something, all the others did not, but whatever. {XD}

Windows 10 upgrades removing installed apps seem to be a strange bug that may or may not trigger.

Seriously? I could have sworn the news of IE retirement was already out in about a year ago or so, given that Microsoft Edge was announced back then. Speaking of IE, I still remember when I used Internet Explorer 6 back then when I used Windows XP, that was before I knew there are other browsers like Firefox and the others once I'm going to internet cafe that time.

3. This laptop is absurd to open. I have to pry open so much stuff to get to the guts of the laptop.
I hate that manufacturers are doing this. I guess they just don't want people to upgrade their PC parts and instead try to have consumers upgrade by getting new computers. -_-

Be glad that things aren't soldered in. It's the ultrathins and eMMC storage-based cheap laptops that you'd have to be careful of.

That and warranty seals. I do make use of warranties when I have to, but when you want to do an upgrade, it hurts you the most because you have to choose between voiding the warranty for that upgrade you want or keeping the warranty in case something fails.
Usually I only start bothering with warranty-voiding things when it's almost out or out...

I'm the kind of person that voids warranties.
Usually I wait for the warranty to expire altogether, or at least hope it's something that can easily be reversed should I need to take advantage of a warranty.

Case in point, remember when I had a defect on the first Nexus 7 2013 model I had before I exchanged it for a new one? I put CM on it (which voids warranty), but still got it exchanged thank gosh by putting the stock ROM back on it.
