I am playing pokemon sapphire. I have an action replay version 5.4, and I entered the code to make shiny pokemon (the one where you have about seven steps in the code and a shiny hack egg is created). The code worked fine for a while, but after my batteries died while using the action replay, it erased everything on it. I re-entered the codes into it. I decided to start a new game as well. Now when I try the codes, the egg is created, but when I go on to step 5, I get a funny symbol that looks like an E to the right of my trainer name. I know that the fifth step will mess up your name, but the times before when I'd gotten the code to work my trainer name didn't look at all like it does now. It is smaller than the letters of my trainer name, and now the shiny code doesn't work at all. I checked to make sure I hadn't entered a wrong character in the codes. For a time, every time I would encounter a wild pokemon and the screen would flash, the game would just freeze, although nothing at all happens now. Other codes on my AR work just fine. I am wondering if you know If I am doing something wrong, and you can tell me what the problem might be. Thanks!

This is the action of the replay messing up your game that happens when you cheat. It is always best to stay away from those long codes that go into part 1, 2, ect.
So start over again, and don;t use that code.Shinies aren't all that great XD.

IMO, stay away from them all the time. They will do permanent damage to your game.

The AR caused it to go into the game. It may have been there and been activated by the AR, or it may have came directly from the AR. Same applys for Gamesharks and othere cheating devices.

If I were you, I would just stay away from those multiple step codes. They're too risky. Something like that happened to my Sapphire game. Whenever I would open my bag to look at my TMs, my game would freeze. I turned off my Gameboy and I blew in the cartrige LIGHTLY. The game was fine.

I use an AR almost all the time I've never had any problems with long
codes or even using many long codes. Maybe you put in the wrong number
somewhere while typing in your code. Also there is no way a virus can
get into a game. The game can't be rewrote, it's Read Only the saved data
can however.

Cheating for shinies spoils the fun of finding them, and annoys friends who actually did find them normally.

My game glitched once, the right part of my screen moved to the other side. And i dont even use an AR!!!
Though i would stay away from ARs. Or else Glitch City here we come!

The thunder and lightning
I know they arent striking
