So what plant/animal should they based on for the Gen 7 Grass-type starter?
Let's see so far we have had two Dinosaurs, a gecko, a turtle, a snake and a chipmunk.
The starters tend to follow a red/blue/green coloration for fire, water and Grass respectively.
Based on this the animal I would go with would be a starter Pokemon based on the Red-Eyed tree frog.
There have been frog Pokemon before but none has been Grass-type.
The starter would be a stylised interpretation of the frog being green with red eyes and Blue accents. It would be a bright green to stand out. It would be bipedal. It's stats would be high Attack and speed but low defenses, a glass Cannon if you will.
It's evolved forms would become slightly more plant like similar to the Venusaur and Torterra lines. As it evolves it's defences will rise somewhat but it's speed will fall.
It's Shiny Forms will be white but keeping the red eyes referencing albino morphs of frogs.

Why I love grass types: They are great supporters and most of them are Bulky, I love sleep powdering stronger pokes with it.
I would love a Starter who is Faster an Has a Psychic side typing, somethin like a cat and becoming a leopard, fast with some good supporting and offensive moves with psychic side typing.

Welcome to the Club. :)
Snivy is a great choice of partner and his fully evolved form is a very regal looking snake.
Your suggested starter sounds like a counterpart to Liepard. Whilst we get a new cat Pokemon nearly every Generation we are yet to have a Grass Type Cat.
Whilst Grass/Psychic are my two favourite types I am unsure about having it on a Pokémon due to the high number of weaknesses. A fleet footed cat Pokemon could however be a lot of fun to use and be a counterpart to Gen 6 Grass Starter Chesnaught.
- Your Grass-Type Club-Campaign Partner: Snivy (female, as all Snivys must be female and have a Sassy nature to be appropriate)
- Reason for joining the club: I figure I might as well join, I need SOMEWHERE to discuss Roserade and Torterra's sheer awesomeness with others who appreciate it, since the Hoenn fanboys can't stand them and the Sinnoh people like Chimchar anyway :(
- Answer to the current topic: I'm not the biggest fan of the Sceptile line as a whole, it is my least favorite Grass starter line. It is still my second Hoenn line, because I have vowed never to pick Torchic, and I will be picking it up when I get to emerald in my Grass Ultimate Monotype.
Oh, gen 7 starter? I like the Tree Frog idea, but the Greninja line has kinda frogged me out. No ideas yet design wise, but a Grass/Ice starter would make my day, despite the 4x fire weakness.
Also, does anyone have any design ideas for a Grass/Fire pokemon? I believe that, with the introduction of M-Sceptile's Dragon typing, Fire is the one secondary type not accounted for on a Grass type (Bulbapedia approves).

Welcome to the Club. :) A Sassy Female Snivy has been added to your team.
Whilst Sinnoh is by my least favourite Region it was actually a Great Gen for Grass Types. The Torterra line and the Grass/Ground typing was a welcome change for starters and the addition of Roserade and Budew really helped the Roselia line. Indeed in many playthroughs I have a Roserade on my team including my recent Unova White 2 Monotype. Toxic and Venoshock is a deadly combination.
The Ice/Grass Snover types were part of Sinnoh too as was the Cherrim line which the form change was a nice touch, even Carnivine had something unique for him in Levitate.
Sinnoh is also the region Gardenia was part of. My favourite Grass Leader and one of my favourite Leaders in the entire series.
I have also done a few Grass Monotypes. I have completed Kanto (Red), Unova (White 2) and just have to beat Red in Heart Gold. Then I will likely do a 'Gardenia Run' on Pearl. (I.E. Just using Gardenia's Pokemon team).
A Grass/Ice Starter? Maybe it could be a cuter form of the Abomasnow line or a Grass Penguin.
Your final paragraph sounds good for a new topic:
There has never been a Grass/Fire Type. What should it's design be like? Would it be a new species or an evolution of an existing Pokemon?
There has never been a Grass/Fire Type. What should it's design be like? Would it be a new species or an evolution of an existing Pokemon?
I'd likely picture it as a new species, and after seeing a Fakemon pic a while ago I think a burning tree could be a neat concept for the type. The fact it'll only have three weaknesses (Poison, Flying, Rock) means it's not weak to much as well, along with cancelling out a lot of Grass's common weaknesses.
Gone forever for personal reasons.

Roserade is a boss. No questions asked. If nothing else, it ended up in my Diamond monotype with effectively 7 types of attacks (compliments of me running tri-weather with Weather Ball). It basically won me every battle from Fantina to the last Rival battle. Torterra almost single handedly beat the elite 4 for me compliments of lots of hax and Hyper Potions, sooo...
A Diamond/Pearl Grass mono is basically is a Gardenia run with the small exception of I get Abomasnow (and Worma-G). Ok, mabye that is a big exception (something something Cynthia's Garchomp). Whatever.
Gardenia is probably my favorite Sinnoh leader (and overall, for that matter), which is 100% not due to her OP as hell (515 BST) Roserade, who you are always underleveled for.

That. I was almost thinking about some recoloration of Venusaur to make it's flower look like a M-Camureptish volcano. Or a Carnivine evolution, it damn well needs one
ALSO, I got bored while writing an english essay and decided to cram as many Grass types as would fit into a .psd file. I have elected to share the end result. Not my best work, but w/e. waaay too many pokemon in one image.

From what I remember of facing the Sinnoh Leaders in the Unova Games PWT Tournament there is nothing there to particularly worry about for a Grass User other than maybe Candice and with a Fire Weather Ball she isn't too tough. Incidentally the toughest Sinnoh Leader for me in said Tournament...Gardenia.
In the Unova Games as well as her usual Pokemon she may use Breloom, Tropius, Tangrowth, Leafeon and Carnivine but surprisingly not Abomasnow.
Gardenia was one difficulty spike in the Sinnoh games. Not only did she had a Fully Evolved 3 stage Pokemon at an early part of the game and a starter, you must beat all her Gym Trainers too. Unless you have a type advantage you are in for a battle.
Getting a Cherrim from the Honey Trees may well take a while. Most of the time the Honey trees give you a Combee which is likely male so can't evolve and is a bug type so can't be used in a Grass Monotype anyway. I think the Bagworm Pokemon can only be found in trees too. I have never used Wormadam.
Carnivine does need an evolution. At the moment it is just there and only has Levitate to make it unique among Grass Types. Tropius could really use an Evolution of some description too.
I cannot see the image.
Answer to Topic
A Grass/Fire Type could be a possible evolution of Pumpkaboo which is based on a Jack-O-lanturn. It could evolve by being traded whilst holding a Heat Rock for example.
It could resemble its side evolution Gourgeist but being more fireball like. As Hikamaru says the fire typing would help the Pokemon. Since Sunny Weather powers ups both fire and Grass moves it would be an excellent Pokemon to have on a Sun team.

A burning tree was the first idea I had as well. XD I'd make it either a new species or a Mega form for Trevenant, in which it swaps out the Ghost type for Fire, but the flames are ghostly/eerie.

I love Roserade a lot and she was even my signature Grass-type Pokemon from Gen IV to Gen V. Hopefully we'll get to see a Mega Evolution for it.

Have a type advantage or have an overlevelled +4Atk +4Def Grotle (Citation: My monograss)
I got super lucky in said monograss and got a Female Burmy and a Cherubi on my first two trees. Luckily the Valley Windworks tree was one of my Munchlax trees, almost tripling the chance of getting a Cherubi if I recall correctly. Womadam is fun to use... if you can get it Trash Cloak. Having an early game Bug-Steel is huge, and it gets a couple good Steel STABs (At least in XY). Tropius also needs an evo. I never have used Tropius or Carnivine, but I love the former's design (less so for the vine).
Yea, screw the Imgur block at school. This should work better.
Almost everyone looks happy to be there. Except maybe Abomasnow. I assure you, that is Torterra's happy face. The middle looks a little crowded, but whatever...
I love Roserade a lot and she was even my signature Grass-type Pokemon from Gen IV to Gen V. Hopefully we'll get to see a Mega Evolution for it.
Sunflora needs an evolution, that is Grass/Fire. If an evolution is impossible, there's always Mega Evolution!
I have always loved the concept and design of Roserade. I never ended up getting to use it until my recent Monograss (evolving Budew is too much work). Also, I really should have thought of Sunflora. That would be another really good recipient of a grass/fire evo.
IN OTHER NEWS: I caught a Shiny Tangela in my FireRed Monograss. It looks soooo much better in it's green shiny form.

Who is your signature Grass Pokémon now?
Ah yes, Sunflora, the Sunflower Pokémon. I have never actually used Sunflora as I am not a fan of its design. It's evolution method does not help it either as I tend to use my Sun Stones (Which aren't the easiest things to get hold of) elsewhere.
It says a lot that in my Johto and Unova Monotypes where the Sunkern line can be obtained early on it did not get in either team.
A Grass/Fire Evolution for Sunflora makes a lot of sense as it would give it some spotlight particularly as its ability is Solar Power.
I saw some Fakemon art for a Mega Lilligant which was Grass/Fire. It was based on an Arabian Dancer and could get Mystical Fire. :)

In my Platinum run my starter was Piplup. If I remember correctly I imported a Vulpix in to get past Gardenia. When I get round to my Pearl Gardenia run she will be an early challenge.
I forgot Wormadam is a Female only species. Tropius and Carnivine are both in the awkward doesn't evolve category and in my Unova Monotype were available far too late to really do much with. Grass/Flying is a unique combination and a Tropius evolution would be interesting to see.
I really like that picture. Most of them do look very happy especially Whimsicott.I am particularly pleased to see my favourite Grass-type Lilligant in there. :)
Friendship Evolutions can be a pain. I find running or biking around works very well as does the daily massage if it is available. The soothe bell works wonders too. In many games Roselia is catchable relatively early on in game making obtaining Roserade easier.
Congratulations on the Shiny Tangela. I prefer his blue form but his Shiny is pretty nice too.
I have caught Shiny Forms of several Grass Types (Whimsicott, Ludicolo, Cacturne, Lilligant) and use them extensively. Indeed Lilligant is my signature Pokémon right now.

I would love to say Venusaur and Breloom, but they aren't; I still prefer Roserade over them. So if you put it that way, I have no signature Grass-type for the time being. -Hopes for a Mega Roserade-
It's not the uninspiring design that puts me off, it's the stats. As a non-competitive battler myself, I'm even put off by its stats. It was like Sunflora was created to suffer. :/ Your points on the mono Grass for Sunkern is so dang real, I feel ya completely. I tried to encourage myself to use it, but I really can't. She dragged down my team, or either that I sucked at using the Sunkern line! Lol
Maybe Lilligant as an elegant fighter? (: Or Venusaur? -thinks about the whips-
Spoiler:
Ferroseed would work well as a supporter Pokemon, they can either act as grenades or hazards!
Wow that picture looks great! I actually love it a lot. (:
Oh and congratulations for the Shiny Tangela! Are you planning to migrate and evolve it?

I can see Mega Roserade being a reality when the Sinnoh remakes come. It was on Cynthia's team and was Gardenia's Ace after all. Mega Torterra is a near certainty but Sinnoh's other major Grass Type should get a Mega too. :)
Even the Pokedex dislikes Sunkern:
Spoiler:
Black 2/White 2 - It falls out of the sky in the mornings, knowing it is weak it feeds until it evolves
It is not surprising Sunkern slowed you down when even the Pokedex points out poor Sunkern's weakness.
I had a glance at Sunflora's stats...
Spoiler:
I didn't realise they were that bad. It has a 30 base speed - That's slower than Cacturne.
I am sure there is a way to work Sunflora into a Grass Monoteam but for me at least it is much easier to just use my Sun Stone on Lilligant, Whimsicott or Bellossom. In my Unova run Lilligant was my MVP, I can't imagine saying the same if I went with Sunflora.
Pokken Grass Type Topic
Lilligant could work as an elegant fighter. It could have a Moveset similar to Ivy in the Soul Caliber games or even Helena in the Dead or Alive games. (Or her Tekken equivalent) Lilligant's lack of visible legs may make it difficult to implement in game however.
My pick is Roserade. She wears a mask similar to masquerade wearers and dual wields bouquets of Roses. It could have a playstyle similar to the Street Fighter Character Vega with a personality to match.
Talking of Vines everyone remembers Dhalsim and his stretchy arms in the Street Fighter series. Vines could fill that role, perhaps with Bellossom as the Pokemon.
For support Pokemon the idea of Exploding Ferrothorns is an excellent one. I suggest Whimsicott. A group of the Windveiled Pokemon could slow the other fighter down with Cotton Spore. :)

Whimsi was added as a result of that as well, because you can't really have one without the other. Then again, I put Ludicolo and not Shiftry, soooo...
Yea, in every mono except Diamond where Budew is available early (Y, StormSilver), I have skipped it completely and just caught Roselia a few routes later.
If I ever did muster the patience required to Shiny hunt, first one would probably be a Roselia.

I certainly wish I could bring the Tangela up. I lack the required systems to do this, and it's on a rom anyway. I just won't reset said rom :P
If I were to pick a signature Grass type, it would, as much as I despise the thing, be Ferrothorn. Choice Banded Ferrothorn has become a staple on my OU teams (IT WORKS I PROMISE), so it ends up being something I am almost infamous for among the better PO players (the ones who know how to beat it, AKA send in Skarmory). You basically use a move and then say in chat either NOW WATCH ME WHIP or YOU WANNA BE A GYRO M8?, depending on what move you use. It's defense means it won't get blown up in one hit like many CB users, it's attack is acceptable at base 98, and every move it uses is either 120 (Power Whip) or 150 (Gyro Ball). Gyro will almost always hit for 150 BP, because anything that runs less than 240 speed either should be Whipped (Blissey), or is too defensive and Ferro should be outta there anyway (Anything else). Bulldoze is also fun for picking off Heatran.
M-Roserade is an absolute necessity in DPPt remakes, even if Carnivine may be a little more deserving for the same reasons that Mawile deserved one (no evolutions and was bad)

On another note, Roserade might be a good addition for the same reason as both Lilligant and Venusaur. "With the movements of a dancer, it strikes with whips that are densely lined with poison thorns." - Y/AS Pokedex. Graceful AND has toxic whips.

1. Well since my Roserade idea was stolen, I'll be forced to state the obvious: Breloom. "Breloom closes in on its foe with light and sprightly footwork, then throws punches with its stretchy arms. This Pokémon's fighting technique puts boxers to shame." - Omega Ruby Pokedex Entry. And it can use Spore as a defensive technique. Because Pokemon Logic.
2. Ill throw out Shroomish as my Support idea. It would just sit in the middle and then if the opponent steps on it it's Effect Spore triggers.

Lilligant is a lot of fun to use and has two great abilities in Chlorophyll and Own Tempo. She could do with more type coverage moves but Sleep Powder, Quiver Dance, Petal Dance has served me well. Her pre-evolution Petilil was also the first Shiny I found by DexNaving. :)
The move Nature Power can be fun in-game, a Lilligant defeating Deoxys with Draco Meteor? Of course. :)
Random Note - Can't we have all Stones just be buyable in future games? Even as Battle Points similar to Gen 5 would work. As it stands it is tricky to find some of the non-elemental Stones particularly Shiny Stones.
I have tried Shiny Hunting for Roselia myself but have had no luck in AS and the virtually undoable Pokeradar in X. The best way for Shiny Roselia seems to be either the Dice Roll of the Masuda Method or have great luck in a horde.
Recently I have found a Shiny Nuzleaf (Now Shiftry) in a Friend Safari whilst looking for nothing in particular and a Lotad by DexNaving whilst looking for something else altogether.
Ah yes Ferrothorn. I used it in my Unova Monotype initially to get past Elite Four Caitlyn (And I ended up using Lilligant for that anyway). It's good defensive typing was very useful for tanking a few hits in the PWT though. It's more a Pokémon I use because I had to rather than wanting to in truth.
Breloom is a great if indeed obvious pick for Pokken. It could be the Dudley to Chesnaught's Balrog/Boxer. :) Spore could work similar to a Dizzy Punch.
Shroomish as a support with a random effect would work great I think.

In the Gen 6 games you were able to buy items of clothing based on Pokemon. (A Pancham hat for Male characters and a Slurpuff dress for Female characters).
What Grass Pokémon would you like to see clothing based on?

Hmmm probably trecko, a treecko clothing would be incredible, or even a trreecko hoodie imagine the possibilities...

I wish I had patience sometimes. I almost want to Powersave in a living dex so I can get the shiny charm, then go about Dexnav hunting
And you can't imagine the s*** I went through to get my AS Gallade before the 5th gym. Literally 3 hours of Super Training to get the damn Dawn Stone. I wish Shiny Stones would be available earlier as well, because Roselia almost always ends up as the last member of my party to fully evolve. XY did a good job avoiding it though.

Roserade. IT WEARS A CAPE. PROBLEM?

As someone who has the Shiny Charm obtained from a full Pokedex (In X) I am not sure how much of an effect it has.
If I remember correctly you get 1 in-game Dawn Stone in AS (From Wally in Victory Road). Quite some time to carry a Male Kirlia around. I have never obtained a Dawn Stone from Super Training but have found a good way to stock up on Sun Stones is to by steal them off Solrocks in Glittering Cave.
A Roserade Cape makes a lot of sense and could be a unisex clothing item.

My answers are a two types of hat. One for each Gender - Males would get a beanie hat based on a Bulbasaur's back.
Female characters would get a hat modelled on a Lilligant's hat. A 'Shiny' version of the hat would be available if certain objectives are met.

A Bulbasaur bulb as a backpack, a Lilligant flower as a head dress (I know the club owner wants me to say this), similarly a Vileplume hat works too! I guess a Bellossom skirt wouldn't hurt? Perhaps a Whimiscott inspired wig and a Chespin beanie would be fun too?
I'm definitely with Sun on a Chespin-inspired beanie. In fact, I actually saw a pic of one that a fan made themself. I would love a nice Whimsicott-themed wig and have nice woolly hair as well!
Gone forever for personal reasons.

A Bulbasaur bulb designed backpack is an excellent idea.
A Lilligant headress would be fun as would a Lilligant inspired dress. As it would cover the legs it night be a bit tricky to animate.
Whilst I doubt the hairstyles will be too diverse a Lilligant Flower scrunchie could be very cute.
If I remember right there is already a skirt similar to Bellossom's in game. A Whimsicott wig and Chespin beanie would work too. :)

A Chespin Beanie or headband could work very well I think. A Whimsicott wig (Or at a push a Shiftry one) could work very well particularly if Game Freak relax the 'All Protagonists must wear hats' rule.
I didn't even think about a Bulbasaur bulb inspired backpack. Now all the people who loved Bulbasaur back in the 1st Gen days can wear a piece of accessory based on their beloved little green starter.
