Let's not let this garden wilt due to neglect! How about another sub-topic? Create your own Grass type attack! I'm fairly certain this hasn't been done before, and even if it has, well...embrace your creativity!

Name: Calming Seed
Category: Status
PP: 10
Power: --
Accuracy: 100%
Target: Anyone adjacent to user.

I was looking over existing Grass type moves and realized that, for all the Status devastation they can cause, there's only two that can put opponents to sleep, and both have undesirable accuracy, with Grass Whistle at 55% and Sleep Powder at 75%. So I wanted to make a Sleep-inducing move that was more reliable. The result? A sort of parallel to Worry Seed.

Good idea! I've always hated the unreliability of grass-type sleep-inducing moves, so I always use Dark Void instead. Calming Seed would definitely make for a good grass-type move.

Btw I like your Slugterra stuff, I remember watching that a while ago, and I thought it was cool. Are they still making new episodes? I haven't been following the series for a while, so maybe you could fill me in.

P.S. I changed my nickname to Midnight because I found out that TempestGaming already exists. I also just think it sounds better and matches me more. Just wanted to make sure you knew.

Activity sure exploded in the few weeks I was gone! I'll try to answer a few topics. Let's see...

Grass-type ability
I'm not really sure. I'll probably go with Bulletproof if that counts. A lot of this might stem from something silly that happened: I was in the Battle Maison with pokémon from my in-game team. My chesnaught was walled by a Bulletproof quilladin, ironically! I guess my moveset must've been Spiky Shield, Leech Seed, Seed Bomb, and Bulk Up or something. Haha! It probably helps that I absolutely adore the chespin family.

Grass-type mega
I've never used a mega. Well, that's not entirely true, since I used a mega alakazam "competitively" just because it was shiny. But yeah, my in-game runs never allowed me to use a mega (Kalosian pokémon only in X and Y, unevolved pokémon in OR). That said, I suppose I like Mega Sceptile the most for its design.

New grass-type move
Hmm, good question. Maybe something like a reverse entry hazard?

Name: Heal Sprout
Category: Status
PP: 10
Power: --
Accuracy: 100
Target: User's side of the field
Description: The user grows a small field of sprouts that heals some HP upon switching out.

Or maybe it should be switching in? I don't know, I haven't figured out the details. :P

Well there's Spore, but that doesn't exactly have widespread distribution huh?

I don't think this topic has been done before but I do like the idea of Calming Seed. Sleep is a very useful move for the Grass Type and I can see some of the 'softer' Grass Type Pokemon like Lilligant, Bellossom and Whimsicott using Calming Seed...even if Prankster Whimsicott having a sleep move might be broken.

Answer to Topic

Name - Floral Barrier
PP - 15
Effect - Increases Special Defense for five turns and blocks all water moves
Learnt by - Any Grass Type that has a Flower as part of its design. (And Florges)

I am not a competitive player so am unsure how this would be used but I feel this could be a small upgrade on Light Screen for Grass Types.

I will get that changed when I update the OP tonight. A small note on Platinum, the third Sinnoh Game has a larger variety of Fire Types than Diamond and Pearl which has just the Rapidash and Chimchar lines. Oddly however Cynthia's Garchomp actually has a higher level in Diamond and Pearl.

I also have a Shiny Mega Alakazam (Nostradamus) that I caught as an Abra in the Friend Safari. I like both the Shiny Pink accents of Alakazam's regular form and the purple accents in his Mega.

A Healing Entry hazard on your side of the field is a good idea. Perhaps it could be stacked for greater healing.

I think Shroomish, The Amoongus line and the Paras line are the only Pokemon to learn Spore which other than Dark Void which is exclusive to the event Pokémon Darkrai is the only 100% accuracy sleep move.

Woah. Pokemon, Fairy Tail, RWBY, and Slugterra I think I've found a new best friend! {XD} They're set to start making new episodes some time after the fourth movie shows, which is soon, I think. I can send you a PM with more details when I have the time later.

Oh, I like that move. Good idea. And to be honest, I completely forgot about Spore. Probably because there's so few that can learn it.

Maybe it would encourage me to use Whimsicott, whom I've never used before. Hard to turn down something like that.

You've got a nice move too. I'd certainly use it. Probably in double battles, with a flowering Grass type (or Florges) and something weak to Water, for the protection.

I actually haven't watched much of Slugterra and I'm not a superfan or anything, but I did think it was a cool idea and I definitely watched it a lot when it first came out. I forgot to answer your topic last time, so here goes nothing:

Name: Bramble Hurricane
Category: Special
PP: 5
Power: 140
Accuracy: 80%
Target: All opponents
Additional Effects: 20% chance to make opponents flinch. If this attack is the first move of its turn, there is a 20% chance to place Spikes under the opposite team's feet. Requires one turn for cool down.

Muahaha OP grass-type attacks!! Okay, I'll do another one that's more legit. I kinda like this idea though, it's pretty cool.

Here's a legit one:

Name: Seeds of Life
Category: Status
PP: 5
Power: --
Accuracy: 100%
Target: Self
Effects: Weakens fire and ice-type moves by 50% for 3 turns. Also eliminates all status effects for 3 turns.

I feel like we currently lack a move like this for grass-type Pokemon, and I think it would make for a good defensive move, especially in tournaments.

Hope you like these ideas, talk to you later.

Anyways, thanks again. I'll talk to you again soon.

I thought this one up a while ago:

Name: Solar Blade
Category: Physical
PP: 15
Power: 85
Accuracy: 90%
Target: Anyone adjacent to user.
May cause a burn.

I was thinking about how there aren't any damaging Grass-type moves that can also inflict poison or burn, so I invented this one.

I actually like the concept you thought of with this one, plus I do feel we need more physical Grass attacks as if we haven't got enough already.

Oooh kind of like a grass-type version of Scald. I like that idea, it seems like it'd be very useful.

Having the flowers block water instead of ice or fire makes sense from a realistic sense. Ice and fire hurts the majority of flowers.

I recently caught a Shiny Hoppip in a Hoard recently. It has a Naive Nature and solid stats. Surprisingly both Shiny Skiploom and Shiny Jumpluff are both pink in their Shiny form.

My Shiny Hoppip is now a Shiny Pink Jumpluff although somewhat disappointingly he is male.

I have devised a new Grass Type Move based somewhat off a character in a franchise I have been playing a lot recently.

Name: 1000 needles
PP - 10
Type - Status
Accuracy - 95%
Learnt by - Cacnea, Cacturne, Maractus
Move Effect - The opposing Pokemon has their Defense and Special Defense lowered by two stages. This move also bypasses Protect, Detect and similar.

This could also work as a straight up one hit KO move with the accuracy problems it entails.

New Topic

There is currently only one Electric/Grass Pokémon (Rotom-Mow) in the series.

Design a new potential Electric/Grass Type. What will it look like? What moves will it have? Would it be obtainable early game or late game?

It's been a while since I haven'T answer here :k

For an electric/grass,... I was thinking about that lately! I wish the new starters will have uncommon types, and Grass/electric was one I was thinking about!
But I honestly have no idea of what we could have...

Maybe an animal based creature who'll have these types...

Seriously.. no idea! (I wouldn't guess a lawnmower in the first place either XD)

Hey everyone, sorry I've been inactive for a bit. With that said, let's move on to the new topic.

There is currently only one Electric/Grass Pokémon (Rotom-Mow) in the series.

Design a new potential Electric/Grass Type. What will it look like? What moves will it have? Would it be obtainable early game or late game?

So I would most likely create a legendary Pokémon that would be obtainable late-game. I feel like there aren't enough grass or electric-type legendaries, so this is a perfect opportunity for me to come up with my own. I call it Carricordicorn, a giant unicorn with a carrot horn and electric power cables running off the side of it. It would mostly be a speed and special attack/defense-oriented Pokémon that is extremely rare. I even came up with a signature move for it:

Harvest's Wraith
Power: 130 (to all opponents)
PP: 5
Move Type: Special
Effects: This move hits all opponents and lowers your defense and special defense while sharply raising your special attack. There is also a 10% chance to inflict a random status effect on an opponent.

Well I hope you like this idea, despite the fact that the Pokémon I created is totally weird and random. Can't wait to see your ideas, talk to you later!

-Midnight

P.S. I forgot to mention that Carricordicorn's primary type is grass, while electric is its secondary. Just thought this might be important to know.

Let's keep the momentum going, friends! I know I said I would let other people make new topics, but for the sake of keeping things moving, I'll make a new one.

NEW TOPIC:

What is your favorite grass-type combination? (i.e. grass and water)

Mine is grass and ghost because they're my two favorite types. I really don't have a better explanation than that, other than the fact that being partially ghost type benefits grass in some ways. It's mostly because they're my favorite types >.< don't judge lol.

Can't wait to see your thoughts on this, I'll get back with you soon.

Hi everyone. I'm looking to join in on the fun here.

Nickname: Kyle, Rain
Partner: let's go with Sunkern
Reason: I'd like to participate more in some clubs here, and grass seemed like a great place to start seeing as it's my favorite type.
Answer to topic: I think my favorite grass-type combination would have to be grass/flying. I get the impression when looking at grass-type designs that a lot of them look really light and could easily float on the wind, since many of them are literally just made of leaves.

Also @the above post. Grass/ghost is also quite cool because that combo is really cool in a haunted forest sort of way. I definitely loved the grass/ghost types introduced in Gen VI. I'd put that as my second favorite combination.

Hey there, welcome! I like your point about ghost/grass being cool in the sense of it being a creepy cool kind of combination. I think that grass/flying is a very useful combination as well. I like the idea of grass types being able to learn flying type moves to counter their weakness to bug.

Good to meet you, I hope you enjoy this club!

Hey, all! Room for one more Grass enthusiast?

Nickname: Benermerut
Partner: Budew
Reason: Grass-type is my favourite. I always choose the Grass starter, in Alpha Sapphire I did a Grass only run, and I named my secret base team Team Flora. Also, I like coming up with moves and abilities etc, and since I'm obsessed they're usually Grass related and the topics here are often about that kind of thing.
Answer to topic: My favourite Grass-type combination... Grass/Bug. Bug is another cool type, and a lot of real world bugs hide by looking like plants, so it's a natural combination. Plus, the three current Grass/Bug lines are all very distinct from each other design-wise.
Not the best competitive typing, but I don't care so much about that side of things.

Hi again, I didn't see you already found your way here. Trust me, there's room for a lot more people here.

I like grass/bug as well, because it eliminates the grass weakness to bug. I agree that it's not the best competitive typing, but it's still very nice imo.

Once again, if you need help with anything, please feel free to ask me.
