Now wait a minute...are you people saying I have to be in my Billie costume every day in order to be punk!? XD
See, I would be more than glad to put on too much black eye liner every day (I don't wear eyeliner anyways XD) and wear black pants, leather jacket and studbelt, but I'd get expelled o_O

I'm lucky I go to a public school where I can express myself. o.o We're not supposed to, but we can get away with wearing chains, too.

Anyway, mullets are still cool. XD

People at my school used to wear dog chains but I think they got in trouble and had to stop. ;_; It looked cool, too...

Well...I know one person who goes to our school who has a stud belt,but I'm pretty sure she's goth so o_O;
Anyways, if you talk to someone say...24 years old- "What's Punk?" they are going to tell you something that is so incredibly different from your own view- indeed, Punk has changed a LOT, since the 70's and it's evolved oO

Punk was created in the 70's, and the true punks were the creators...now people just, as Eli said, evolved it...and if they knew the origins of punk and respect that, than I consider them a true punk.

I have to say that punk is what you believe it is. I don't think anyone "more" or "less" punk because of the music they listen to. Heck, I listen to Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, the poster boys of pop-punk - who am I to talk? But I don't think it's fair to discriminate against anyone because of their musical tastes, and if someone thinks a band is punk then who are we to try and change their opinion? And also, punk is about who you are and your personality, it's not to do with looks or image. That's just stereotyping. I listen to a whole lot of bands that fall loosely within the "punk" label, from pop-punk to screamo and metalcore, and I don't think about what makes them "punk", but I do try and pick out their influences. I'm not afraid to say "this band sounds like that one".

...Happens to me all the time o_O Oh yes, I get laughed at every day for having a taste in Punk rock, or I'll get screamed at "Shutup idiot! Green Day isn't Punk, Punk is dead!"
And do I say anything to them regarding their tastes? I think not oO; People are really disgusting sometimes...

Mainstream bands are those that tend to get a lot of airplay on the commercial stations. To me, that doesn't make them any better or worse. After all, it's not about where you hear them. If airplay gets their music out to more people, good for them! I'm not gonna diss them for that.
