As the title says, are there any foods that you've eaten, turned out to not like and have since grown on you and find yourself liking a lot more than previously?

There are quite a few I could name this about, but to name one that's come to mind recently, I used to not like pickles. But now I can have them on my hot sandwiches (like burgers and chicken) regularly, although I won't eat a full dill pickle but will have one if it's cut into quarters or halves. And onions, too, even if those leave me all watery.

How about you? What have you come to like after not as much? Discuss.

I used to hate hot dogs. One summer, my youth group went to different church members' houses for our Wednesday night stuff and we literally had hot dogs at almost every house. I tolerated them and ate them, but tolerating them made me come to be okay with them to the the point where I'll sometimes choose them over burgers at cook outs. They're smaller and less messy anyway, so it works out.

Same thing with bananas, sort of. I used to not like them at all, but could tolerate them. I was in a pageant my senior year of high school, but I wasn't filling out my dress the way I wanted, so my mom's friend told me to eat bananas cause they make your boobs bigger. So I ate at least one every day. I don't think it worked for what I was trying to get out of it, but it made me okay with eating them. Far from my favorite fruit, though. I like juicy/tangy fruits, not sweet ones so much. That's a story for another day, though. Another thread, even. I know there's a fruit thread.

One thing I wish I could get into is avocado. It's SO good for you, but I just can't it it by itself or not mashed up into guacamole with some chips. I just wish I was able to eat it by itself in all its goodness, but I just can't get behind it's taste without guac seasoning or with the accompaniment of chips.

Green veggies! I hated anything green growing up and really up until last year or so. I decided that I really needed to start eating more veggies and eventually developed a taste for them. Though I am still skeptical about eating some greens like spinach haha.
Make some scrambled eggs and have spinach with it. Get a leaf or two of spinach in each bite. You won't taste the spinach, or at least barely. Don't cook the spinach in the eggs or you'll definitely taste it. Just have it fresh and make sure you get some with each bite of eggs.

Green bean for me. I used to be so against eating these things, but for some reason, they're really good now. The way my mom prepares them makes them taste great, and now I don't hesitate to put some on my plate.

It's still a no to broccoli.

I love eggs so I will probably give this a go! Can't hurt to try 8)

Oh god so many.

A bunch of green veggies and such, like Jalapenos, Spinach, Broccoli, and green peppers as well as onions. I used to avoid them but now I usually have them on a subway sandwich or something along the lines. Avacado I believe is another one as well and I'm pretty sure there are more but I can't remember at this time.

Cheese!

I used to be allergic to milk, so I haven't grown up with it. At first I thought it tasted weird, now I'm obsessed with the stuff.

I've always liked vegetables. (I'm vegetarian in fact =w=)

One thing that has grown on me is cinnamon. For some reason, I hated it when I was in elementary school and forgot about it in middle school, but now I've started liking food with cinnamon a lot.

I don't know how this happened, but cinnamon has suddenly become my magic fairy dust to spice up a snack.

I can't think of anything 'cause I've always stayed away from the foods I dislike, no matter what my parents/relative have told me. Sometimes I try the nasty food they make me eat then spit it out in the trashcan and wash my mouth to show them how much I hate the thing. They usually get the hint. If not, well - their problem. :)

I used to dislike the taste of most fishes, but that eventually began to change once I had started growing tired of chicken and beef (which are something I regularly consume), causing me to avoid them and give a better shot toward other things.

Aside from that, due to the same reason, similarly to many of us here, I also wasn't much of a big vegetable fan when I was younger, which had changed as time moved forward.

Seems we have a lot of people mentioning green vegetables. I'm in the same boat, I didn't care for things like broccoli, cucumbers, lettuce and such, but in my past semester at college I ended up having them quite regularly. And jalapeño peppers, I like those too.

Hm... I'd probably have to say I'd have to say Broccoli. As a kid, I used to hate it so much for some reason. Then, I started to like it more slowly as I got older. My first attempt at eating it was with melted cheese. I started to like it a lot more without it having cheese on it, and I have ever since then.

Basically, that's all I can think of. XD

I hated anything green growing up and really up until last year or so.

Probably asparagus, jackfruit (rubbery, almost vomit-inducing texture, and doesn't really taste like anything), durian (delicious; you get used to the smell), Vietnamese corn pudding / che bap (if you pick it up it looks like clear, viscous spit and droops down like natto and has an "interesting" texture, but I like it now), or men. Placed in reverse order of preference.

EDIT: Spinach, too. I'm pretty open so I can eat it, but I don't like it. I just hate it less.

I really used to hate spinach but now I kinda love it haha. At first it was so disgusting but now I eat it normally like any other food. It's mainly because I heard it makes you strong so I was like, resist it! Now I don't even resist, I just eat it.
