There are some people that think a game ends when the story mode/campaign ends as well. Some others only feel satisfaction after unlocking everything, visiting everyplace and playing every sidequests. Which of those two would you say you are and why?

Well, I need to 100% the Kingdom Hearts series.
before the trophy system, in the old PS2 days I have 100% Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
I have 100% a few stories sides of Birth by Sleep. Aqua and Ventus. Not Terra, Terra is a little bit difficult to defeat some bosses since his movements arent as easy to control (IMO). But PS3 days with the HD collection of KH. I have 100% the Journal of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix. But as for trophies I never platinum any KH, Im super close I just gotta finish mostly the Gummi missions, which I hate!!!

I also finished 100% The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D both Original and Master Quest.

I 100% Sly Cooper 1 and 2. But Im not a perfectionist I can stand not finishing 100% of the game, I have finish the stories and thats about it, when I have time i try to finish what I can before everything gets busy.

I guess im the type of gamer is in between, it really depends on the game. Kingdom Hearts I always return to try to finish 100%.

Pokemon I havent tried to 100% the Dex since Gen 1. haha I dont got time for all that haha.

I'm not one of the those completionists that must get every trophy/achievement/etc in game. In fact, FFIX is the only game where I remember doing everything (for that Ultima Weapon!) I’ll play along and try do most things as long as its fun, but most of the time I'm satisfied with just finishing a game. Completing all the achievements is not something that happens often, if ever.

Usually don't go for 100% completion unless I like the game.
i'm the same way too. my bf is the one that needs to 100% complete everything and replay the entire game.

I usually want to make sure everything is 100% clear thru my gaming and not every, tiniest bit of requirement to reach 100% is done and accomplished

There are only two games that I have gotten 100% in, achievement wise. The games are The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion and Castlevania Harmony of Despair. Course by achievements, I mean the ones that raise my gamerscore.

If a game looks easy to 100%, I'll usually suck it up and do it for the trophies or the self-satisfaction. If it's not easy, I don't care all that much.

Sometimes I'll do really ridiculous grinds to 100% but it has to be for a game I really, really love. I like doing it because it gives me an excuse to keep playing the game even when I'm mostly done. However, the problem with this viewpoint is that when I do manage to 100% a game, I almost never go back to it ever again which is a little depressing. :( Even replaying things for fun seems so pointless when I know there's nothing new to see and all I'm doing is taking time away from a game that I haven't beaten yet.

Generally though, I'm perfectly content with simply seeing the credits. I consider a game beaten after that and with most things, I have no problem never touching them again after I've done the basic win conditions.

If the game has trophies, 100% is not the goal, it's the necessity =D
If it doesn't, only if I really like the game.

Given the second and third showcases on my Steam profile, I'd be lying if I said it didn't mean something to me. :P

Going for 100% is not my main goal when I start playing something new.
But if I enjoyed the game, then I'm bound to go back through it a couple more times. And if I really liked it, I'll go for 100% -- whether that means achievements or in-game unlockables.

Outside of Steam, as far as achievements go the only console I had with those was my 360 before it fried.. and I only got 100% in 4 or 5 of those games - Fallout 3, Sims 3, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and maybe Fallout: NV? If not, all I had left was getting kicked out of the casinos, lol.
As for general in-game recognition, I've 100%'d all the Resident Evil games (pre-achievement era), Eternal Darkness (if you can count that), FFX-2 (PS2), a handful of N64 Rareware titles (Collect All The Colorful Objects: The Games), LoZ: OoT and MM (N64), Skies of Arcadia: Legends (FINALLY. But what kind of game rewards 100%ing it with a horribly difficult boss fight??!), and Super Mario Sunshine..

...That's all that's coming to mind. So really, not too many games have been "important" enough to go through a dozen times over.

I don't try to 100% games, unless there is something that I get from it in-game, it is really easy, or it poses a fun challenge. So far, I've only 100% 4 games ever. TES IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, and Red Dead Redemption. TES IV and Fallout 3 were just easy, Resident Evil 5 was a fun challenge to 100% especially when trying to complete it on Professional, and Red Dead Redemption because I really wanted to get the BOI outfit so that I can just do whatever I wanted. I do try to do as much as possible in a game, but I never really try to 100% any game, unless I really want to, mainly because I'm just a bit lazy to even attempt it most of the time.

I'm both kinds of people. Realistically, the game ends for me when the story ends. I traveled to the moon, I planted the bomb, the giant mother alien died and I was stuck in space. The end. But sometimes... you just get upset that you missed little things that would have made the game so much easier... and then you NG+. But usually that's not for a few months or so because doing a run immediately after the inital run is just so boring that I end up giving up after a couple of hours.

The only games I've 100% so far are DBZ Sagas, FF X, a couple of naruto games, and Dynasty Warriors 6 as well as hundreds of other retro games that most people wouldn't recognize if I said them anyways. There's a few that I'm really close to getting 100% on, but those last few % require a rerun of the game and that's just not happening.

I don't feel that I've 100% something until I've done all of the content available, optional or required. I feel otherwise about achievements, especially if they don't unlock anything. For example, I feel I've 100%'d BW2 because my Trainer Card and Medal Box are the highest rank, although I don't have a few medals such as playing C-gear minigames with 1000 people because I don't feel they add anything to the game.

Another example is in Donkey Kong games. I don't feel satisfied with just defeating the last boss - that's always easy. The real challenge has always lain in collecting the letters and puzzle pieces. I always love seeing the "100%" (or higher sometimes!) on the save file. (:

I'm definitely the 100% kinda guy. It just doesn't feel complete until you've done everything. You may have finished the main part of the game, but that doesn't mean you've completed the game. I complete my games. The only game I've actually committed a decent amount of time to that I haven't 100%d is Borderlands. I completely completed Borderlands 2. I can do nothing in that game but farm now. I still have some side-quests and other things to do in Borderlands that I'm sure I'll get around to eventually.

Pretty much when the story ends is when the game ends for me, at least for right now. There's been a few games out there that I haven't minded chasing 100% completion for, although that was also done in years past and for the most part I don't have the patience to sit down and find everything now like I used to be able to do.

Now, if it's a game I end up falling absolutely in love with, then I might try to go for full completion. But especially with so many games that I should finish (why do I keep buying more), I tend to just complete the story, get that "the end" screen, and then go on to the next game I have in mind. Completion can come later, if I ever feel like doing so.
