Hoopa-Unbound writes history in the Smogon tiering process, as it's the first non-mega Pokemon with a base stat of 680+ that gets added to OU right away. Last gen, Kyurem-B with a 700BST was initially sent to Uber and then tested down.

So apparently there's a double standard... or what am I missing? Because here's their reasoning: "Why would we make an exception for Hoopa ? Why would we change our current policy".

So yeah, I think we need some discussion on this 'mon, because while personally I don't think it's broken, it's kinda borked that they decided to send it to OU right away.

I don't see how this is a resource...? Anyway, I've renamed it to [Discussion] now.

Also, the way they titled it "the Hoopa-Unbound case" is really, really misleading seeing as they're discussing tiering philosophy. I think cases like this are best handled by placing the Pokemon in the appropriate tier based on its BST, and test from there.

mega evolutions changed ou's power ceiling, for better or worse. mega metagross is ou with a 700 bst and a recoil-free life orb boost on many of its attacks, and it's not like it's a huge exception. i tend to agree with the op in the linked thread that testing it down makes more sense, but i don't really see this as a double standard when, well, it's not bw2 anymore.
