I only played Red, therefore so far my favorite character is Gardevoir who appears in your main character's dreams.

Pokemon Silver Furret Run: (16/16) (JOHTO + KANTO + RED COMPLETED)

Grovyle even he is a baddie at first, but risk himself for you! It's bit upsetting and perhaps I see gates was Virizion because she is bit confused at first then possibly get along.

Gengar, from Red Rescue Team. He's a character that you won't grow attached to unless you play pretty much well into post-credits. Gengar starts off as a mischievous individual who does everything to ruin the protagonist's day; as the story progresses, more of the backstory is revealed about his curse and connection to Gardevoir. Eventually it's revealed that the sinister smirk is merely masking a broken, damaged soul, and the protagonist helps him break the curse. Gengar's role represents character development at it's finest, and that's what makes him my favorite not only in PMD, but the entire Pokemon franchise as a whole.

So far my favorite has been Hydreigon in Gates to Infinity, because omg, he's just so entertaining. But Keldeo is also a pretty fun character too! Since GtI is the only Mystery Dungeon game I've played though, my pool is very limited. Maybe once I finish Super PMD I'll have another favorite :)

Triples since it provides a very interesting battle experience for me.

Currently playing: The Ultimate Rodent Solo Run Challenge Marathon
Pokemon Blue Raticate Run: (8/8) (COMPLETED)
Pokemon Silver Furret Run: (16/16) (JOHTO + KANTO + RED COMPLETED)
Pokemon Sapphire Linoone Run: (8/8) (COMPLETED)
Pokemon Pearl Bibarel Run: (2/8)
Pokemon White Watchog Run: (N/A)

What's your favorite battle format (other than singles)?

Doubles, because it's the only one I can stand. Triples are a bit crowded, Rotation is the worst, most poorly implemented idea I have ever seen in a Pokemon game, and...are there any others? I suppose you could count randoms or rentals from the Battle Frontier, but I hate being at the mercy of the unfeeling RNG.

Rotation battles always makes the battle bit more exciting and the random format gives interesting ideas on what team you could have if you have that pokemon and utilized it well

Doubles and Triples. I love the idea of being able to team up and focus on one target or even have one team member each handle one opponent. It's also very fun and it's so annoying when there isn't enough in the game.
Gone forever for personal reasons.

I really like inverse battles just because they make you think outside of the box. The only problem with inverse is that there aren't many inverse battles in the game, but they are still my 2nd favorite. (First one being singles.)

I think you could count Sky Battles as another format, and Inverse too. But yea, I've been great at Triples...too much going on, too much to process xD I don't mind rotation too much, but I haven't played much of it, so I haven't yet come up with a good strategy for it.

So I'd go with double battles for my personal favorite.

Though I'm still patiently awaiting the day we get free-for-all battles (4 players all against one another). Pls make it happen GameFreak :3

Rotation; I like the new dynamic it brings about the battle by having 3 'mons on the field, but only allowing one to battle the opponent. Doubles comes at a close second.

I like triple battles, since I perform them so frequently in restaurant Le Wow. I had a great time grinding there during the XY days. I still do on occasion! Also what I do is send Pokemon from Hoenn to Kalos specifically to train there. I end up fairly rich and with piles of mushrooms. It's a glorious time!

Do you prefer to grind, or do you take your chances at going through the game underleveled?

Grinding in Pokemon? Ha. Grinding involves spending hours gaining levels, not mere minutes. Pokemon is a ridiculously light grind by JRPG standards, so light I wouldn't even classify it as grinding. Pokemon discourages it with increasing experience requirements for the next level anyway.

I tend to gain a few levels in-between Gym Leaders; just enough to keep up, usually.

Nowadays there's no such thing as being underleveled in an initial playthrough of a Pokemon core series game. It just doesn't happen.

Unless you count being a mere 5-10 levels above the next trainer, gym leader or Elite Four member as underleveled, then sure.

That actually depends.

If I'm doing a Nuzlocke (although I only did one), there's a 100% chance I will grind for it since I'm worried about starting the grinding process all over again for another underlevelled Pokemon if one of my Pokemon faints.

If I'm not doing one, it depends on the generation. For Gen 5 I grinded with the Lucky Egg + Audino method since it only takes a few minutes to raise your Pokemon's levels and I don't mind doing it.

For Gens 1-4 on the other hand, I usually take my chances going underlevelled. Sometimes I would win, sometimes I would lose. Lucian, Cynthia, and HG/SS Lance took me several times to beat them via a combination of luck, a bit of strategy, trial and error and high item usage.

There was at only one point where I had no choice but to grind, and that is when I needed to beat Red in HG/SS. My Pokemon were way too underlevelled, so I had no choice but decided to grind by rematching gym leaders several times until my Pokemon team grew 5 levels.

I managed to beat Red in the end, but in the cheapest way possible which is when I reach Red's last Pokemon which is his Blastoise, I spammed Full Restores since I was left with Ho-oh (and Ampharos I think, but he was at low HP at the time) until Blastoise ran out of moves to the point he uses Struggle until he faints. One day, I hoped I could beat him fair and square.

I just go straight and do it hardcore without all those getting overleved and just pressure myself.

I...have never played Mystery Dungeon :X
Spoiler:

Question of the Day

Who's your favorite ever Pokemon Mystery Dungeon character?
Yoomtah! The owner of Wigglytuff, he's one memorable Pokemon. (: He's the defiinition of mercy face... or not. :P

Honorable mentions go to... Oh my gosh! Sunflora and yup yup, by golly! Bidoof! :B

I love love love Rotation Battle, probably even more so than the Double Battle, nowadays. One must be wise and have a great prediction; It's not just a simple battle, one must use their knowledge and intelligence when it comes to Rotation.

I also like Inverse Battle. Just imagine how exciting it is if there's a facility that offers Inverse-Rotation battles. -whistles-

I think you could count Sky Battles as another format, and Inverse too. But yea, I've been great at Triples...too much going on, too much to process xD I don't mind rotation too much, but I haven't played much of it, so I haven't yet come up with a good strategy for it.

Free-for-all battle is something like the Super Smash Bros, right? That's a cool idea, really!

I would also love a crazier one, a battle that involves four trainers -- three trainers vs one trainer, akin to Mario Party's 1 VS 3. Each opposing trainers are only allowed to use 2 Pokemon, while the one lone trainer is permitted to use 4-6 Pokemon. :)

Oh, speaking of grinding...

Question of the Day

Do you prefer to grind, or do you take your chances at going through the game underleveled?
I do not grind for levels, so the answer is nah. I do not escape trainer battles and I also try to rise my kids' level equally. (:

I do grind, so I can at least be able to breeze past most tough trainers. I also like to balance my levels so that I don't overlevel one of my Pokemon too much.
