In recent years, there's been an increase in interest and popularity of these technologies, thanks to the invention of devices like the Kinect, Wii and Oculus Rift. What are your thoughts on being able to use your body as a controller, or being literally immersed in the gaming world with VR? Do you think these are gimmicky fads, or will they become the future of gaming? Have you tried or do you own any of these devices? Share your experiences!

I tend not to play many motion control games unless I'm with friends and we play Wii Sports or something like that, which doesn't happen much these days :P It just seems like it's better for party games if you ask me.

Virtual Reality is probably not going to be my thing because I feel like it would mess with my head a little bit and I just don't think it's all that necessary.

If I mentioned every single VR/motion gaming device there was, there would be no point in making a discussion - I'm trying to spark conversation, not write a blog post. :P

I used to think the Wii was fairly gimmicky, but I have played some games that utilize the motion controls in very intuitive ways that make the game more fun, so I'm a bit on the fence about motion controls like the Wii, Kinect, PlayStation Move, etc. I don't know too much about VR devices and such, but they seem very interesting. Things like the Oculus Rift and the Virtuix Omni have a lot of potential to do really great things for video games, so while I don't have many thoughts about it now, I'm excited to see further developments concerning VR gaming.
