Don't you hate it when you get nauseous?

I've been steadily feeling worse this morning. Nausea has been creeping up and up.. Taken some peppermint, pepto bismo, water and now some echinacea tea my wife is making.. Blah halp. Any of you think nausea is just the worse? That insecurity/worry of puking.. I feel like a weak child :( This really sucks...
I have rather severe issues with nausea, in that it completely shuts down my ability to function until it passes. I can't eat, I can't leave the house, I can barely move when it hits me. The problem with nausea is that it feeds into anxiety, and vice versa, which means that it perpetuates a cycle that is very difficult to break when it takes hold.

There is nothing "weak" about it; some people can just cope with it better than others, or have methods of coping. Personally, I always found these home remedies - peppermint, ginger, etc - make me feel WORSE instead of better, because the flavours feed into it. I don't have a method of coping other than "waiting it out" and that can take all day.

Yes, nausea is the worst. The uncertainty of it, the loss of control, just the feeling of it. I can think of a few things more unpleasant - like what it could lead to - but not many.

You understand XD... Luckily I feel a little better after going to the bathroom. I should be feeling decent enough in half an hour. Apparently I'm running a fever. Woohoo. My wife was like this 2 days ago but it only lasted a day. I might be doing better off than she was.

You could try something light such as ginger ale or sprite, even 7 up. I hear both are good for bouts of nausea. I hate puking though. When I was younger, I used to put up a fuss every time I did. Not to mention, the phobia I have for when others do it when I'm around them. :c

I don't get it very often though. *shrug*

*RUNS IN*

i was made for this thread.

my friend the best thing i can say is.. if you're that nauseated still, and it's been a lengthy time since you medicated, you probably should let yourself throw up. it can't be good to keep something that toxic in your belly, whatever it is. it's certainly not responding to treatment, which isn't exactly a positive sign from your body. real talk, get it over with in those quick really unpleasant few seconds, and then enjoy the "i'm healed" rush you get afterwards. you'll feel much better.

i'm nauseated really abnormally often myself, enough that it interrupts my daily life pretty frequently. simply feeling hungry will immediately nauseate me and cause me to not eat until hours after the growling has subsided. food itself even makes me feel a bit ill while i'm in the process of eating it, usually resulting in me not finishing it. still haven't figured out why this is, but i assume it's not normal since people usually like eating.

throwing up tho? last time for me was when i had kidney stones during the summer last year, and i was having trouble even doing that the first day. it was a dark time.

I'd almost say that the feeling itself is worse than the act of puking. At least when you throw up you feel better for a little bit afterwards, but when the feeling hits you it builds up and you can't do anything until it passes.

I used to sometimes have nausea when I ate food I disliked (I'm a really picky eater), but nowadays I rarely feel that. Fortunately, even when I used to have nausea by eating untasty food I never puked. The sensation throwing up gives is really bad and I hate when I'm sick and do that.

I get nauseous so easily, rather it's just being around a food I dislike or smelling something bad, then sometimes I'll just get nauseous randomly with no trigger.
I'm actually feeling nauseous right now from eating something I don't like 'u'
I find distracting myself from it helps sometimes!

I'm pretty used to it. It's like that every morning.

That worry was me sometime last year, after having been to a picnic earlier that day. One of the few cases of bad nausea I've had in a while, since like...2009, I believe? and while nothing actually came of it (somehow surprisingly), it was definitely worrisome while it lasted, since nothing seemed to stop it beforehand. I just lay there and waited for it to dissipate. That was not a fun night.

Although as much as I might worry (it's more a worry of "would I be able to make it in time if something happened"), it's also kind of like "eh, whatever". If something happens, then it happens. If not...yeah, I'm just going to lie here and not move until I feel better.

But then again, I don't normally get nauseated in the first place. It's pretty rare. At least, it's rare outside of "oh god I'm encountering a bad glare while in a moving vehicle", which often does set off some nausea...

(That made for some fun times when I was younger.)

I thankfully don't get nauseous as often as I used to when I was a little kid; having thrown up at school a few times was the worst. ;~; I feel really insecure about getting sick in public because of that; one of the times I'd gotten ill in 9th grade, my teacher wouldn't even let me out of class to go to the bathroom. I'll try to avoid vomiting if I can, but a lot of the times, I don't really mind just getting it over with for the sake of feeling better afterwards. Because I hate the taste of peppermint gum, I prefer (and love) ginger ale for an upset stomach.
Does anyone else get that nauseous feeling when you're really hungry in the morning? :0
All the time! I usually don't have an appetite in the morning, but sometimes I'll eat just to keep away that nauseated feeling..
