I can't be the only one on this website who's excited for overwatch's beta soon right?

This game looks so fun. Aside from some controversy (If you could call it that) about some of the character designs *Cough Zarya Cough* I think this game is going to be quite phenomenal. I like the way the characters look, the ability's look fun to play around with, and if I get to play the beta, along with other people, we could have a genuine chance to shape the meta for the game. Just the thought of being able to do something like that is quite exciting. I know that once it's officially released as a full game things will change, but at least then I/we would have had an oppertunity to play a version of the game that nobody else could. Besides, I think some people get bonuses for participating in a games beta, like a badge or whatever. So, you know, that'd be neat.

I couldn't find a thread for overwatch so I decided to make one myself.

To answer your first question, I'll give you the short version: people didn't like that most of the women had similar body types, blizzard made zarya in response to this, and plenty of people felt obligated to whine about it. Plenty of people were also like "OMG THIS GAME IS SO DIVERSE!!!". Anyway, One thing I thought was funny when I was watching gameplay previews for some of the characters, I noticed that whoever was playing as tracer in her preview seemed to be doing exceptionally well, while a few others... Didn't fare so well.

IM SO HYPED FOR OVERWATCH!!!!!!! Finally a competitive first-person shooter that isn't CS:GO.

I come from an extensive background of competitive Team Fortress 2 and this looks like the real deal. A lot of Overwatch heroes translate to TF2 classes and basic TF2 mechanics. I am so sad I didn't get a beta key, but hopefully in the next wave. :)

Reaper and Widowmaker look like the most fun. Tracer looks OK - probably really poo in the wrong hands but with potential to be devastating in the right ones. Pharah looks great too, but incredibly vulnerable to Widowmaker, a hero who I think we'll see on the field in most matches. I haven't seen too much gameplay of the tanky/defensive heroes but knowing myself I wouldn't enjoy playing those guys too much. Maybe if I had a mumble or teamspeak channel with people I knew and could play around, but not solo queue.

IM SO HYPE!!!!!!!!! With the way Blizzard is approaching the release of this game - meticulously tweaking and listening to the pros and established fanbase - this game has the potential to be huge. The biggest FPS game to date. IMO it's an amazing blend of MOBA and FPS and Blizzard are doing the right thing.

Now if Valve had just supported TF2 matchmaking two years ago there wouldn't be thirsty fans like me waiting for OW.

I admire your enthusiasm marz. I've played tf2 for a few years now, and when overwatch was first announced I wasn't too interested. It wasn't until I saw some gameplay footage that I got excited.

One thing that's quite unique about the game is the team composition, having a large selection of heroes to choose from, and only six players on each team means that you could create a balanced 4 man team, and have the other 2 players change heroes based on the situation of the match. In an organised team anyway. The heroes I really want to try are zenyatta and reinhardt. I have a feeling that reinhardt will become meta for most teams, seeing how useful his entire kit is. And if you manage to get in melee range that hammer can be devastating.
