I breed somewhat often, and you need quite a bit of funding for that, so I re-challenge the E4 whenever I'm running low on money. I'll make sure to bring a team of Pokemon that can sweep everyone relatively easily, and then I aim to get through the E4 as quickly as possible, raking in as much dough as I can.
Rinse and repeat until I'm satisfied with the total amount of prize money.

I don't really re-match the E4 for purposes other than money grinding anymore.

As of probably since DPPT, I rarely face the elite 4. I like reserving it for special teams or important moments because those Pokemon are recorded. I wouldn't want my hall of fame records to be full of level 25 Klink and whatever else I was raising to evolve to complete the Pokedex.

During the older games, yeah I would beat the elite 4 10-20 times to raise my team because it was difficult raising Pokemon in GSC and RSE/FRLG otherwise. RBY was all about that rare candy glitch though, lol.

I remember when I was playing FireRed, in one of the games, just coz I wanted to get all Stickers from the Sticker Guy on Four Island for beating the Elite Four, I just went berserk battling the Elite Four, defeating them more than 60-70 times or so, but then I got bored & just left it at that :P

I never did it a lot in previous games, but in X I have rebattled them a lot so I could grind Pokemon up thanks to the Exp. Share. I also sometimes rebattled Hoenn's Elite Four at times in Alpha Sapphire when I needed money, and for more grinding.
Gone forever for personal reasons.

I have not battled them more than once before because I tend to stop playing after finishing the game. But now in Pokemon X, I'm planning to challenge them again and again for training my team and earning cash.

I used to challenge the Elite Four repeatedly, especially when they provided the only source of significant cash and some of the few challenging trainer battles. Now, though, I hardly ever re-battle them. It simply takes too long to go through cutscenes and credits, and I can beat other trainers more quickly for more money and more experience.

Also in my opinion, none of the Elite Fours & Champions in any game are that hard to beat (if you have trained your Pokemon well), so battling them numerous times is great experience.

Well i've done so in my main White 2 plenty of times, same with my main copy of X but not as many in Omega Ruby. But I do like to rematch them on occasion, especially in B2W2 on Challenge Mode with their buffed up teams. And once in Alpha Sapphire, I beat Steven's Aggron with a Charizard that was over ten levels lower thanks to Air Slash flinching and then Focus Blast. :P

I don't play the games for too long after beating the main story and some of the extra content afterwards to an extent. I think the most I've ever challenged any Elite Four team was three times, and I believe that was Platinum, because I could not put that game down for weeks.

I don't do much competitive battling, so usually after beating the main story line, and do some of the extra stuff after the E4, I usually stop playing for a while until I eventually just replay the entire thing. I'm very much of a casual Pokemon gamer.

In X & Y, I can't count the amount of times I've fought the Elite Four, mostly for level grinding new Pokemon in my team. In other games, though, I don't think I've gone up against them again after the second time battling them.

Usually just once, the required E4 challenge obviously. I used to battle the Elite Four a lot just so I could level up my main Pokemon team to 100, but now I just forget about them. I really should go back and challenge them, I find myself in constant need of money and I might as well have a good challenge while doing so.

For me it's different for every generation.

Gen 1 - I almost never battled the elite four
Gen 2 - I battle them once in a while
Gen 3 - A bit more than Gen 2
Gen 4 - Constantly on Diamond... with Palkia only... Just to get him to Lv. 100
Gen 5 - Same as Gen 1
Gen 6 - Same as Gen 2, but I might change that

Just once, they get stronger during rematches and usually have four full restores. Though I do enjoy the rematches in the Battle Chateau in Pokemon X and Y
One does not simply get too old for Pokemon
