I placed this here because it seems more like this might end in a pretty big fight. Just to be on the safe side.

Anyway, how do you feel about the new red cups? Do you hate them? Do you love them? What's your honest opinion of these cups?

Honestly... THEY ARE CUPS. Here we are dealing with things like cancer, hungry children and who knows what else. Yet all people can think about are those red cups of all things? Are you fricken kidding me? Sure, I totally get changes are hard. I get that most Starbucks lovers are used to the old styles of holiday cups... but come on, do people really need to act like a two year old in tantrum mode?

In my opinion, I think it's GOOD Starbucks did it. Not only are they supporting Christmas, but they are doing their part in supporting other holidays as well. Have we honestly forgotten about Hanukkah? Kwanza? Seriously, not ever person who enjoys Starbucks celebrates Christmas.

That's my two cents. :/

god how I hope this doesn't start a big fight. I'm all for getting passionate over little things but Calm.... DOwn........... personally I have no idea about this, I just know they roll out red cups around holiday times? that's pretty cool to me, little nostalgic reminders only apt when certain things are going on have always kinda struck a chord with me because they make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. so this is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. how could anyone actually get het up about this. there is nothing harmful here. it's november. calm down

The only reason I can imagine someone having a problem with I this is because now the cup won't be instantly recognisable.
For some people drinking over priced coffee every day makes them feel special and they want to show off but now because the cups red for a while and not the easily recognisable green it could be from any overpriced cafe in the world not a trademarked over priced cafe.
That's just my opinion of course and they could all have some deep rooted trauma against the colour red, but I doubt it.

As ridiculous the complaints are about a temporary change in a cup's color, I'm actually glad this is hitting public news, because I believe any kind of news is just as important as more serious issues like politics or the environment. Now if only they could cover the fan outrage of Smash Bros. 4 not including Ridley as a playable character, again, followed by the reason behind the decision.

Just to note, since I read a few posts in here that seem confused on what the hubbub is: they're not getting cranky about the color, it's because Starbucks holiday cups used to have decals on them along with the red color.

Spoiler:

Now they are just plain red and some Christians think Starbucks is making an assault on their religion... because... snowflakes and snow are Christian... I guess....?

Oh... I'd be disappointed too. I'm not going to talk about Christianity because I'm not Christian. But I think Starbucks will be worse off for their decision, because whenever I think of plain red cups, I think about party cups, and that's not the image that Starbucks want to be associated with. Christmas cups in previous years looked nice. These ones look cheap, so blatantly commercial. It's such a shame.

Joking aside, there is no need to fight over a cup's design. Don't like it? Then don't purchase! There's no need for the uproar, really, there are other pressing matters. No one's dying over a red cup. And Uproar should remain as Whismur's move.

Are people genuinely upset over this? Can someone give examples of the supposed protests or whatever?

It's a cup. Christmas has thoroughly inundated North American culture, and one less instance of that is hardly a bad thing. Frankly, growing up Jewish I've always been tired of having Christmas shoved in my face as early as October (yep, it started before Halloween this year), and it would be nice to see less of it. I think that's likely too much to expect, though.

and i thought overemphasizing the sickening popularity of our country's noontime shows over political and serious issues such as the Bullet Modus Operandis in our airports, or serious traffic, infrastructure, internet, etc etc problems are already scraping at the bottom of the barrel...

i guess not...

I kinda feel that this'd be fine/better in the Treehouse so I'm gonna move it there.

Hopefully no one minds

Christian's are just bent out of shape because oh no there's no Christmas crap on a cup you're just going to throw away. Seriously they need to be bent out of shape about more important things than what their going to throw away once they are done with it. The cup is to plain for Christian's while the rest of the people could really give a crap and care less.

I know Starbucks isn't as big of a thing here compared to years ago given their business down under downsized greatly (thanks to being edged out by a local-bred competitor), but I don't see anything bad with these new cups and the hate is just a lame excuse.

I mean, if you don't like the cup just don't buy the drink.

Of all the pressing issues going on in the world, such as ISIS, the refugee crisis, Donald Trump running for president, or even global warming, they chose to get all up in arms over a ****ing cup?

Give me a break.
That's what I've been saying!! It's so stupid. I mean yeah, they have a right to be upset... but they DON'T have a right to make it some global meltdown issue. In fact even Donald Trump is telling people to boycott Starbucks because of their damn cups. He's more worried about the ****ing cup then he is about our general country issues... SERIOUSLY?! AND PEOPLE WANT HIM IN OUR OFFICE?! Hell no.

I literally couldn't care less about it if I tried. It's a cup. Why is this even an issue?

Because of this:

That's why it seems to be an issue with people. But still... I agree that it's simply just a cup. It's like a two year old throwing a tantrum because his mother didn't get him the toy he wanted. *rolls eyes*

the red cups before were much prettier, but i think they chose plain cups so nobody would be offended. even though they did this, they're still offending a religious holiday. either way, starbucks doesn't win.

my opinion: it's a cup im going to throw out.

Is there a particular reason why Starbucks decided to change the design of the cups btw?

Is there a particular reason that the cups are seen as offensive?
