Did you think Iris deserved the title of champion in b2/w2? From pokemon games, it's quite common for the '8th' gym leader of pokemon regions to hold their own against even the Elite Four, but was Iris's case different?

When Alder stepped down from his position, it was Iris who somehow gained the helms of becoming the league champion, with even stronger dragon pokemon and a better variety of pokemon in general (ie Lapras, Aggron, etc).

In B2/W2, do you think her Pokemon suited that of a champion, and if you could replace her, would you replace him with anyone? If so, who, and how would you change the storyline to suit the new champion? Or would you just replace his Pokemon and be done with it? If so, feel free to be creative and give a pokemon team, and movesets too!

She felt like a champion. I had a harder time fighting her than I did with Alder and I had teams with similar levels for both, not to mention that Alder's team is more diverse type wise.

As OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire said, Iris's team is diverse enough. Unless you are well prepared, you'll have a hard time against her Pokemon.

Having said that, I say Benga has the potential to succeed his grandpa but not because he is related with Alder; he climbed to the top of Black Tower/deepest part of White Treehollow(depending on the player's game version) with three Pokemon, it can be argued that he has Pokemon with high base stats and one of those Pokemon from his team is a legendary Pokemon. Nevertheless that is still an accomplishment and it is courageous of him to conquer the Black Tower/White Treehollow.

His team would be consisted by Metagross, Volcarona, Lickilicky, Gliscor, Hydreigon/Haxorus, Eelektross.

I'm honestly not into Iris as a champion. But it's not like there's a lot of other suitable people to take that spot really. None of the other Gym Leaders (except for Drayden, who I assume wasn't made to be the champion because he needs to inform the player of some of the dragon lore and about the DNA Splicers before you get to the E4) really feel like they'd work as champs. Cheren never beat the Elite 4 afaik and became a Gym Leader himself (which suits him better imo). Benga would work I guess, but idk. None of the Elite 4 really felt to me like they could pull a Lance either.

I felt like Iris had the team of a champion, Dragon-types are used by a lot of champions and their high stats makes them a challenge to take down. Having one of the strong Unova fossils, a bulky Lapras and physically tanky Aggron alongside her strong dragons makes her difficult if you aren't prepared.

And as Sun said, if Iris weren't champion I could have imagined Benga succeeding his own grandfather.

If you guys know me, you probably know that I really liked Iris as Champion. I thought said idea was very creative, even if the Dragon-type may not be to some others. I will admit that on Normal Mode she's nothing too special compared to the bigger names, but I have access to Challenge Mode, which buffs her team with 100, 120 and even 150 power STAB moves alongside odd held items. That makes her quite a bit more challenging to take, especially that Outrage Haxorus, which is insanely strong. Not to mention she uses so many Pokémon I really like.

As for who a different Champion who would have worked would be... Maybe Marshal, since Alder was his mentor? Just a thought.

I didn't really like Iris as champion. Sure, she had a powerful team, but she was a kid -- compared to the other champions, whose older age gives the impression of years and years of experience Iris just felt like a kid (much like the MC) that got lucky and made it to the top.

I would have preferred a new character to fill the spot, as nobody from the first games really fit the position imo. Although, it would have been cool if the player from BW showed up as the champion in BW2, would it not?

It would be, though idk if there'd be story issues with that or not, but it also would've been hella cool if the player character from B/W showed up in the Champions tournament at the PWT as a Memory Link feature.

I can totally see how it would go down: you make it to the champion's room only to find nothing there. After waiting a bit the camera zooms out and you see the player from BW flying in on the legendary dragon, landing before you and saying nothing just like Red as the battle starts. I know I would've freaked if that went down.

I think Iris deserves the position of the champion for 2 reasons. First of all, we have seen from the anime that she is very kind to pokemon and she tries hard even when she is gonna lose if we remember from other champions gary is a good trainer but he made everyone punch tv,pc or whaterver everyone watched pokemon from because he was mocking ash all the time lol. Secondly, Iris has dragon type pokemon so i think she would be there because if she weren't maybe Drayden was gonna be champion. Nevertheless, b2 and w2 have pwt so you can experience more cool champions there if you don't like Iris :) (Which i think is one of the main reasons that they put Iris as a champion).

By my friend Master Snowy an honorary masterpiece :). Thanks a ton!

I liked Iris as a champion, and other than maybe Caitlin or Cheren, I can't think of anyone else suitable to replace her.

Iris' team was one of the better ones as Champions go. Haxorus was a good Ace to have and the likes of Aggron provided some variety. The only weak link was Archeops and its horrible ability. Her battle Music was great too.

Iris herself as a Champion, not for me. She seems too young to be a Champion and her character does not fit as Champion, although it was always going to be hard following Cynthia.

Many players would not have ever faced Alder in the Original Black/White and he was at best an unremarkable Champion.

For Alternate Champions I suggest Drayden, he is a very experienced trainer and would have fitted the Champion mold better, Iris could have remained as Opelucid Gym Leader.

My personal Pick though would be Marshal. He was Alder's student and a student surpassing the Master would have been a nice story. He could have a Heracross and Lucario on his team to prevent Psychic Types One shotting his team.

His team could be: Conkeldurr, Heracross, Lucario, Blaziken, Scrafty and Ace Mienshao.
