Alright, so I know we don't discuss office technology much in here, but I was thinking: does anybody here still use printers? Whether it'd be at home, work, or even school, how often do you guys use printers? What other function(s) does your printer have aside from printing?

Printers are the bane of my existence, they never print right when I need them to. My latest problem was that my printer refused to print black ink. It was not out of black ink, it just wouldn't print it. Every other colour was just fine.

???

I ended up handing in an essay in dark blue ink, that was real professional.

Still using Printers and without them I cannot print some of my favorite wallpapers. Besides my brother and sister still need it to print their assignments.

Well we DO have a printer... we just don't have the ink for it. Why is ink so gosh darn expensive? I'd be using it all the time if we could just afford the cost of ink... or just make our own.

I still used my printer on occasion, which I'm using to print articles on the internet that I'm interested in, and at times I'm using it to make some covers for my CDs.

At home, We have HP Printer 5520 series which is a excellent printer due to have wifi printing so you won't need to connect cables to print and just print straight away from anywhere that have wifi, also more conveniently can print with the printer's email so it can be almost anywhere even at work also from smartphone for more practical printing and it can scan as well photocopy in colors. At the office we have 2 printers and 1 printer was a far office and another one was at admin area where capable of scan and copy also in the computer lab have printer, but it's very buggy and messy no matter how much cleaning I do it still messy. I don't use printers very much unless someone requested to me printer a picture for homework and etc.
Post Sig coming soon.

I have an old HP printer that's hardly used primarily due to overall cost of ink. When I do buy ink to print several pages it ends up abandoned for the next few weeks and when the time comes that I need to use the printer again the ink has already dried out. I'm never eager to use the printer mostly due to its age; it's never used unless I absolutely have to. HP does an awful job of keeping their printers up-to-date so I'm often left with a printer that needs more work than necessary just to spit out printed papers. Otherwise, I just carry a tablet around with me most of the time.

I really am behind the times when it comes to printer; which easily explains why my old printer — which is way overdue for replacement — still lives beside me. This thread made me consider finally buying a new wireless printer and at the same time start doing my research lest I end up with yet another unreliable product. I know literally next to nothing when it comes to printers; all I know is that it prints and that's good enough for me as long as it remains reliable over time. I'm not sure what cool features printers today have.

Anyone got suggestions? Preferably one that has good chemistry with OS X.

I don't have a printer currently, but that's because of the lack of need for one--but since I'm starting the new semester soon, getting a new printer is something I'd definitely need to do--I'm just not sure which one to get, really. x_x

...I assume it doesn't matter anyway cause most of them have the same basic functionalities.
Most of the printers out in the market are all in one inkjet printers so they are good for doing everything basically. If however you do a lot of black and white printing then you could consider getting a lazer printer which uses a toner instead of ink cartridges. They last longer but their initial cost is a bit higher. ( for the printer itself) Or even a colour lazer if you're up for it.

I still use a printer at home. (In fact, I have a few jobs lined up for it at this very moment.) I mostly use it to print pictures and important documents for record-keeping. Aside from printing, it's also used as a scanner or a copier, though I haven't used it for the latter. I mostly scan pictures in to print out.

The printers that are in my office at work are the bane of my existence. They're so particular in how the paper should be loaded in and what type of paper can be used at any particular moment. Just today, one printer refused to print anything out unless each page was fed through by hand. Then again, they get used a lot, so it's kind of forgivable that they break down more often than usual.

I currently have an Epson XP-310, which I bought for its WiFi capability. Although it's pretty good at what it does, most of the time, at times, the low ink reminders are annoying, because of all the ads, even though I supposedly chose to opt out of special offers. I also hate that the software has to be updated all the time (I wish we could go back to the good old days when a particular software version was good for a lifetime without needing to be updated every couple of weeks or even days.)
I've also done copies and occasional photo scanning with it, too.

For years, I had a Canon multi-function printer, but gave up on it because it wasn't WiFi capable. Once I got high-speed Internet with a router at home, I found it pretty annoying that I had to have the printer's host computer running if I wanted to print from another computer (shared printing). Well before that, I had a 24-pin dot matrix printer, which for a period of time I would print to it regularly.

my 1st printer was Canon Inkjet printer ( Black and White) and the printing speed is slow about 3 minutes printing per paper.
Now I have Canon MP 280 3 in 1 printer which is quite convenient and fast printing. But the inks do not cost that much ( $20 - $ 30 ringgit ) per bottle in these days.

Our home printer is a lightly used HP 2550 All-In-One as they called it (meanwhile for the business side of things that type of printer is called a multifunction printer). At Least I think it's a 2550. It's somewhere around 10 years old at this point.

I support several dozen printers at work as well. They're a pain to work with when they're not working. They're beautiful things when they work, though, other than the fact that toner is usually more expensive per ounce than gold.
